Dog stands up, ready to go. He stows the amulet away. "Bad trap," he says to Neventi. "Seemed metal, and fiery, as I said. Let's tell the city guard and offer to take care of the problem for them. Too many past run-ins over misunderstandings of rules."
He looks at Gash. "Anything from Friend?"
Leaning down to Martin, Dog opens his mouth in what could be mistaken for a smile if you're squinting hard. "I monologue because I had information you didn't. If you'd like, I can keep it to myself in the future and prolong the mystery."
After an uncomfortably silent remainder of the meal, everyone, including Neventi and Gentoa, head to the city watch's headquarters in the Ward District.
"I could use a walk," Neventi says as Gentoa points at a feral cat ducking into cover as they pass. "Besides, I don't think you want me home alone after what we've been through. Am I wrong?"
The constable on duty takes down the information from Tock and Dog dutifully but skeptically. "We can send a pair of officers around to take a look. If it is as dangerous as you say, I don't recommend going in there. We can always post a bounty if we deem it too dangerous to handle."
Tocksays, "Thank you. It might make sense to remove the pointer from the sign at the gates as well then to prevent others from running into this."
He looks at the others.
"If you assess the danger soon then we might be able to take up the bounty immediately, making the city safer for everyone."
He turns to leave, then turns back to the constable, "Actually, who would be the one changing the signs at the gates? Or how could we follow this thread to find out who posted the address there in the first place? It feels somewhat personal and it would make us feel safer to know more."
The constable nods and calls over a messenger boy. "Derk, go find Kete and Kylo in the Temple district. Give them this message," he says. As the boy heads to the door, he adds, "And tell them to be careful."
And then the boy heads off. The constable turns back to the adventurers. "It will be at least an hour before I hear a report back and that's if Kete and Kylo aren't already involved in something. If you intend to stay, have a seat over there. Otherwise, check back later."
Dog is fine skipping the visit to the 'friends of aucasia' address for now and going to the masonry shop to make sure the Kete and Kylo don't do anything stupid.
The trio heads towards the Temple District, which is only a short 15 minute walk. They settle in for a wait and they get one. it is nearly an hour and a half before the officers arrive at the scene. They appraise the mason's shop professionally and then approach it an rap on the door. Dog's stomach tightens, knowing what is behind the door. But nothing happens. No monstrous construct comes barreling through the wall.
The officers peer in the windows from as many sides of the building as they can and then meet back at the entrance for a conference in hushed tones. Eventually, one of them sucks in his gut and draws a short sword before approaching the door and placing a firm hand on the handle. He swings the door open and creeps through. (6)
A moment later, the officer comes barreling through the door. The roar of the infernal construct rattles the walls and shatters one window. The man stumbles and his partner races to pick him up. Inside the shop the construct roars and sprays a long cone of acid out of the door, just after the two officers make haste up the street.
Gash agrees to go scout out the second address with Althus. As they approach the area, Gash regains contact with Friend. Taking a quick peek through Friend's eyes, he sees a large, three story manor. Friend is sitting across the street, perched on a small tower. A similarly tall tower with a peaked roof adorns the target address across the street. It is an expensive neighborhood, clearly.
Dog tries to flag down the guards as they leave. "We called this in -- if we take down then do we get any bounty they offer?"
(DM: when we were in the shop earlier, were there a lot of pieces of equipment and stone items that would fracture in a shatter spell?)
To Martin, he says, "I think they're not smart -- not actual thinking beings like Bulwark. Ambush with magic and ranged attacks might be best. Or lure them outside and hit them all at once. I can use magic to carve out a hole about 5 feet deep and 5 feet wide right outside the door, so if we can get them to come rushing out, they'd fall in, and then we can all hit them at once at first from range and then melee. Got a spell that should shatter their brittle hides. It's the kind of thing that should happen first and Bulwark should stay out of the way. What are you both thinking?"
It must be a bad time to ask. In their terrified state and as far away as they are, there pair merely run past, not interested in stopping to answer questions.

(It hadn't been enough time and Friend is more than 100 feet away.)

Dog nods at Tock. "Good ideas. Would be good to pick up a bounty." He does his best to warn the constable that the construct seemed very dangerous.

Dog suggests using the time to go look at what the other address is. How far away is it from where they are?
(Not being familiar with the city, it is hard to say, but the constable says it is about a 25 minute walk to get there.)

(So far I have Tock, Neventi, and Gentoa staying at or near the city watch HQ. Dog is going to go spy on the watch officers. Anyone else?)
Bulwark is willing to accompany Dog, the situation sounding like it could potentially be dangerous.
Martin will go with Dog

Althus would be happy accompanying any of the original members to go see Aucasia.
(I think only Gash is left, so we'll see what he chooses to do.)

Gash and Althus:
Gash agrees to go scout out the second address with Althus. As they approach the area, Gash regains contact with Friend. Taking a quick peek through Friend's eyes, he sees a large, three story manor. Friend is sitting across the street, perched on a small tower. A similarly tall tower with a peaked roof adorns the target address across the street. It is an expensive neighborhood, clearly.
Martin strings an arrow from their hiding place. “Alright, Dog. This is your show, how do you want to do this?”
