The old man lied to us!!! Even after he came clean about a dragon he knew the location the whole time and had a map. He truly was going to send us to possibly die!! Well even though I felt he wasn’t evil now I am not so sure.
“I don’t know whether the Druid was evil or not, and now we will never know (Rastin glances briefly at Autzen), but we know for certain that he had no regard for our lives and for that sin he paid the ultimate price.”
Rastin then turns to address Autzen. “Brave Tiefling, in a short time we have come to trust each other, or at least that is my perspective. I know that you will have my back and I hope you know that I will have yours. However, I hope you understand that when I attempted to restrain you, it was because I disagreed with your approach. I am not willing to maim or kill someone, even someone who has wronged me, if there is an opportunity for that person to undo the wrong. In this case, the Druid most certainly crossed us, but we were not in danger and I don’t believe he intended to attack us. And yet, you attacked him and seemed to do so eagerly. I do not understand your reaction and I do not condone it. I fear that we will not see eye to eye on many things, but I feel we can still get along and work together to complete our quest here. I simply ask that you show a bit more restraint before you compel the rest of us to put our lives on the line, which is, no doubt, what happened here today. More specifically, if we are not in danger, please do not force a fight and the bloodshed that comes with it until we must. That is my small request, friend.”
Rastin finally turns to Dimitri and nods, “I too need a rest, Adolmain, but I agree with our new friend here that it feels wrong to enter the dead man’s home. It is enough that we killed him and maybe too much even. Let us find somewhere else to recuperate and plan our next move.”
Dimitri nods at Rastin, satisfied and in agreement, and begins to make camp in the ruins to the east. He goes off for two hours, and comes back with two rabbits, a quail, and a pouch full of roots and berries. He takes out a small iron pot, builds a fire, and begins making a stew. He whistles while making it, skinning the animals with quick and efficient movements, not unlike those he used to wield his blade in battle. Before long, a tasty aroma begins to fill the air.
(OOC: Using Wanderer background ability You can find food and fresh water for yourself and up to five other people each day, provided that the land offers berries, small game, water, and so forth.)
Autzen's ponders Rastin's words, shakes his head, and makes camp. Perhaps his retort will come at a later date. Clearly, the Tiefling isn't overly concerned with the opinions of his companions.
(OOC: Autzen - feel free to retort in the morning).
The sky turns dark, and Thundertree is quiet, but for some distant sounds which could be anything - living or "undead." Some of you feel like you heard a roar of some sort, but it doesn't interrupt your sleep. Instead, your sleep is filled with the images of the dead who have fallen from you actions. The undead, the twigs, the spiders, and the druid. There is a saying that those you kill must become your slaves in the afterlife. All of you shall have many slaves if the old wives' tales is true.
(OOC: I'm gonna assume a long rest).
Morning greets, and suprisingly, your sleep was not interrupted. The coals to the fire you made still glow, and the faint scent of Dimitri's meal still lingers in the air.
You all make small talk, and awkward discussion as each of you know there are tough choices to be had. Do you venture on to investigate the supposed dragon the druid brought up? Do you head back to town to report your findings? You now know the location of Cragmaw Castle, which is your ultimate destination.
Dimitri wakes in the morning, glad there were no interruptions in the night. He listens to the group discuss possible courses of action, but doesn't particularly want to go report findings to town. He is an outlander by nature and by calling, and much prefers being outdoors and on the road than in some pompous priest or baron's reception room. If the party heads to town, he'll spend his time gambling, playing chess for coin, and drinking on the outskirts with other roughshods like him. Besides, the tiefling would probably attempt to murder the local paladin guild's golden boy for some perceived slight like glancing in his general direction, and Dimitri doesn't particularly want to be around when the force of law inevitably catches up with Autzen.
A dragon though, that sounds more interesting than a musty old castle that's probably full of unpleasant traps and littered with the corpses of fools. Dimitri is a barbarian, and likes to swing his sword and charge out the open. Tiptoeing around, checking traps, and avoiding spike pits is not his cup of tea.
Adolmain doesn’t care to go back to town he is on a mission from God and the workings towns and people gain no respite from evil while Adolmain is not seeking out evil wherever it hides. What is more evil then a Dragon?? Pure evil, has God bestowed upon Adolmain the ability to defeat a foe as powerful as a dragon even with these able bodied comrades gold and treasure means nothing to Adolmain but destruction of evil is honor, glory, and the work he was sent here for. Then there is Cragmaw Castle and a dwarf being held prisoner by a Spider perhaps this is the evil that should be dealt with first, for who knows what power lies in this Wave Echo Cave we have heard mentioned and if it gets into the hands of evil we will have forsaken many. The Dragon can wait as it seems that it will be here hoarding whatever treasures it has Adolmain is sure that Cragmaw Castle is why he was chosen by God for this Journey.
In all his shady run ins and underworld dealings, Autzen has yet to lay eyes on a dragon. Truth be told he's unsure of the fellowships ability to survive such an encounter. Some dragons are known to have lived closed to a 1000 years. Perhaps at best this rumored dragon will be young and untested... at worst they'll be walking into certain death. Though the weight of his path has become heavy, he has no desire to see the end of his road.
However, it's obvious his defense of the group has upset some. Autzen can sense the group's uneasiness with him. Rastin has made this much clear. He'll go along with the consensus, but will not go against his nature.
"If it is the will of the group to seek the dragon, then so be it. When do we leave?"

“I agree with Autzen on this. The dwarf needs our help and there is evil at work in Cragmaw. If the dragon needs to be dealt with, then let it be after we rescue Gundren. Maybe Sildar and Gundren could then help us deal with this pesky lizard and with the Black Spider. Dimitri, I hope you will join us even though our path leads into a dusky castle.”
Your party makes the decision to head to Cragmaw. As you inspect the map for the location, a days and a half hike from your present situation, you find that the back of the map has what appears to be a map of the castle itself. (Check Discord for Castle Map).
As you head out to the castle, your party grows quiet. A sense of guilt falls over your party, like a cold, wet blanket. Though Autzen remains indifferent, as if he had stepped on an ant, the rest of you wonder if a crime was committed on this day. Perhaps rescuing Gundren will cause the karma gods to fall in your favor.
You make camp before you get near the castle (everyone can take a long rest - please update ration usage and stats accordingly).
You wake in the early morning, and you suspect the castle is less than 500 yards away. You proceed to what you believe is the entrance to the castle (West side of map), hiding behind trees to peer at what lies ahead. The castle consists of seven crumbling towers of different sizes and heights, but the upper stories are all in varying states of collapse. A short flight of steps leads up to a terrace in front of the main entryway. Past the wreckage of a pair of sundered doors lies a shadowed hall. Round towers loom over the entranceway, with dark arrow slits looking down on the terrace.
(Ok, fast tracked to castle. Need location and moves.)
Dmitri inspects the area (Perception roll of 14 on Discord). He relays to the party that there are arrow slits in the castle walls that are 10 feet above the outside ground level, 4 feet above the interior floor level, 8 inches wide, and 4 feet high. He thinks he sees creatures walking by.
(I went ahead and resolved Dmitri's perception check, however, when you roll on discord please post in forum thread with explanation of what you are doing. Helps with the story telling and I'd prefer players to vividly describe what they are doing. Discord is only for OOC, rolls and maps).

Dimitri does not like the idea of walking up to the front door of a defended castle. He agrees with Aldolmain. He suggests going second to last as he is not heavily armored like the others.
The gang of four quietly circles the castle and approaches the side entrance to the south. An overgrown path leads to a passage that climbs up into the wall. A large iron door stands here, sheltered from direct outside attack. Arrow slits ten feet above the ground overlook the path.

Rastin is concerned about this entrance as much as the last. He does not want the party to be sitting ducks as they try to find a way through the iron door seeing those murder holes above them ready for whatever waits inside to rain arrows or worse down on their heads. "I suggest that we use a combination of flight and our magical rope to scale the wall in an area of the castle that is hidden from observation." Rastin scans the castle exterior for a discrete spot to scale the wall (Perception 13) and awaits a response from his companions.
