"Ah... I see." Lilith nods her head slowly and keeps drinking her cider. She looks to the barmaid. "This is very good, by the way, thank you for your suggestion... uh... oh I never asked for your name. I'm Lilith."
Gribz stops outside The Tap-Room Tavern and sighs, thinking to himself ("Another performance in another town... At least this one's bigger than the last few...") before entering. The Goblin's arms are full of sheets of paper and as he tries to open the door a few fall to the ground and scatter like leaves in the wind. With a mumbled curse, Gribz leans over to pick up the stray pieces of paper and presses on into the Tavern. Even in a big city like Neverwinter, he still draws looks of suspicion, fear, and outright hostility. Even though he takes care to dress, speak, and behave in a civilized manner, most folks aren't used to seeing a Goblin walk right to them and hand them a flyer for a travelling theatre, which is what he's doing at the Tap-Room. Gribz goes table to table, greeting the patrons and handing out flyers for Thellasian's Travelling Theatre, giving them his best smile. After making a circuit of the Tap-Room, Gribz will head over to the bar and speak to the barmaid. "Hello ma'am, I'm handing out flyers for Thellasian's Travelling Circus, mind if I leave a few at the bar here?" and he sets the remainder of his stack on the bar as he hops onto a barstool. He'll turn to the Half-Orc and extend his hand "Gribz, theatrical gladiator. Nice to meet you. Here, take a flyer." and he slides the man a flyer "I'll be performing tonight along with the rest of my troupe at the Merchant Quarter." He'll also turn to the elven woman and do the same.Gribz will then run a hand across his slicked-back black hair and straighten his brown leather vest. The vest covers a well-oiled chain shirt. Gribz also wears brown leather breeches and brown leather shoes.
The barmaid spits on a rag and cleans a tankard before turning to Lilith and replies “The name’s Glinda. Pleasure to meet you Lilith” Just as the new, odd looking patron enters the bar handing out flyers. Glinda watches him with a suspicious look on her face “Umm, sure, just leave them on the bar there. I’ll see if I can get rid of them. Will you be having a drink?” She shuffles the papers and puts them to one side. Gorag grunts and mutters his name “Gorag” he takes one flyer before using it as a bar mat a second after Gribz turns his back.
Gribz will turn back to the barmaid and say "No, I don't drink while I'm working, but I'll pay for the drinks of these fine folks." gesturing toward the elven woman and the half-orc. Noticing the now soggy flyer under the man's drink he'll say with a laugh "Excellent idea friend." After a few seconds of silence, Gribz will turn to Lilith and say "Pardon me ma'am, but I couldn't help but overhear your conversation as I walked over. Did you say something about a treasure map? I only ask because as a performer, I'm always looking for new tales to turn into performances. Yours sounded interesting." with a large smile full of very white teeth.
Gorag says “That sounds good to me!Glinda, I’ll have another Post Horn!” He then sits and looks at the slightly smudged lettering on the posters, trying to work out what it actually says.
The wood elf had always found herself at taverns, whether it be for socialization purposes or for an actual drink, she managed to come for more of a purpose this time. With the rumors of a mundane job opportunity given by a Gundren Rockseeker, Nadia was quick to hop on it. Her yearning for something more would hopefully be fulfilled, along with her need for more social interaction and, most importantly, money. She was tired of always having to scrape by and even if this job didn't prove to be profitable, money was money, and most of the time little cart jobs ended up opening a path for so much more for the adventurer's on them. At least, that's what she's read in books.
Once the sun-kissed skinned woman enters the tavern, her dark brown eyes scan the room first before settling on the bar itself and making her way to sit a stool away from the pretty looking elven woman. Usually, Nadia's honey colored hair would be weaved into a braid, but today she decided to pull it back into a bun, similar to the elf's, but with impossible to control curls curls poking from her hair line. Anyone who would look upon her visage would notice a few freckles and dark colored moles: two under her left eye, one at the bottom corner of her mouth, and another on her right cheek. Underneath her dark green hooded cloak, she wore simple leather armor and ankle high boots to match, with a bow and quiver strewn across her back.
When the barmaid gives her a look is when she speaks: "A simple ale, please." She then waits for the goblin's question to be answered before turning to strike up a conversation with the elven lass. "You wouldn't happen to also be interested in this little job that, what's his name? ...Gundren Rockseeker, has would you? Just wanting to see who I'll be making friends with on this little journey, is all. My name is Nadia Selwyn, pleasure to meet you." Nadia gives her a warm smile.

Replying to Gribz "Oh, I did say treasure map but I'm not actually sure if it was a treasure map. Gorag went on a little trip with Gundren Rockseeker and they found a map. I was only inquiring to see if it was a treasure map but Gorag wasn't sure. Your travelling circus sounds amazing, I must say. I've been around a lot but I've never really been to one before."
Lilith turns to the wood elf. " Ah, yes! I am interested in the job. I'm looking to save up some coin so I thought it'd be good to ask about it. It may not be much coin but it's most certainly better than nothing!" She gives the two new patrons a sweet smile. "My name is Lilith, by the way."
The young green scaled dragonborn enters the tavern. He scans the room and sees the barmaid talking with someone. A female from the looks of it. He moves to take a seat next to the female keeping one stool apart.
Blighttree is dressed in a earthy and old leather armor set up. The armor is layered in some plants, some appear to be mushrooms. The other bits of plants appear to be fungus moss. Blighttree has a scimitar strap to his back. His scales while hint a green are pale. As if the sunlight has not visited his scales. The backpack he carries on his right shoulder. In his waistband is a narled wooden wand.
Waiting for a moment to speak. He says is Mr. Rockseeker in? I heard he is looking for paid help.
To Lillith, Gribz will say "Feel free to come by our show in the Merchant Quarter tonight. Mention my name and you'll get in at half-price." with a wink. To the new arrivals, Gribz will greet them each in turn and hand each of them a flyer for Thellasian's Travelling Theatre. Gribz will then say "A journey, paid work, and treasure maps huh? I think I'll stick around and meet this Rockseeker fellow myself." To himself Gribz thinks ("Maybe this is it! An adventure of my own... Worthy of epic ballads and sold-out performances!")
A tall human male casually strolls into the tavern, drenched in sweat and panting lightly, but he seemed to enjoy the exertion, as a smile was spread across his relatively cheery face. Crossing that visage, was a single, spiky bang, curved in an arch over his right eye, obscuring it just a bit from sight. The rest of his raven-black hair seemed similarly spiky, but sleeked back. If anything it would remind you of a wolfs 'mane.' As he pushed the door in more, you'd see him draped in a sweater-like sleeveless turtleneck over his chest bathed in a royal-purple color. Much like his shirt, he wore loose commoners clothes over his legs , that were tucked into his heavy, black boots. His shoulders bore two, twin coal-colored pauldrons, that were all criss-crossed with wear, proving it had protected him before from greater injury. Draping from these pauldrons were thick, brown leather straps that went down to his pants, interlocking and holding the whole suit together. A discerning eye or ear could tell that he was in-fact wearing armor beneath his clothing, either by the occasional misshape of the clothing he wore over it, or the soft, telltale jingle that metallic links made when they moved.
Strapped to his back was a large, black, sword. One side shaved to create the blades threat. The shape of the sword was similar to a giant razor, in that one side was flat to the tip, while the other went at an angle, before also dropping directly down to the hilt. The handle itself was long, obviously to allow maneuverability with such a massive blade, which was almost as tall as Zack himself was.
His face was sharp and angular, but handsome in it's vivid definition. The only mar on his visage being a crossed scar on his lower-left cheek, just above the chin. His eyes were the blue of the mid-day sky, and even in the tavern light, there was a barely perceptible glow to them. Despite all this, he gave off the aura of a humble life, seeking to become something greater than it was.
Zack made his way into the tavern, walking with a swift stride, Seeing the two patrons playing cards in the corner. Zack would head straight to them, pulling out his own set of cards, and offering them both a warm smile he'd say Hey! I hope you fella's don't mind if I join you? I haven't had the chance to play cards in a while, and as far as I can tell, the person I came to meet isn't here yet.. Unless you've seen a Rockseeker around here? If they haven't seen the man he's looking for, and don't mind him joining their game, he'd pull up a nearby chair, and ready himself to play with them, slapping 5 gold onto the table casually.
(OOC- If I do play a game of cards with the two, what do i roll or do?)
Glinda the barmaid pours all the drinks asked for and accepts 2 silver pieces for each drink bought, offering silver in exchange for gold when needed.
Glinda sees the Dragonborn enter and says “Ah, I’ve been waiting for a green Dragonborn. Are you Blighttree? I’ve got silver here in return for some of your mushroom supplies for cooking. As for Mr Rockseeker, I believe he’ll be here soon” She lays 2 silver pieces on the bar.
The halfling and the old man look up at the tall man that has just strode into the room and placed money on the table. The halfling speaks first in a raspy and slightly irritating voice “Sure. Sit down. I’m Hondu, this is Davis. Do you know how to play chase the dragon?” Hondu and Davis both match your 5 gold coins
(OOC - Zack, roll a d20 3 times plus your intelligence and proficiency modifier of +2 because of your playing cards proficiency. Highest number in each round gets a point. First to 3 points or the person with the most points wins)
Zack sits down and begins to play. After 3 rounds the door suddenly swings open with an almighty crash and the tavern goes silent as a heavy handed human walks briskly through the now open doorway. He’s about 5’8” tall with a bald head and squared jaw, he has a large burn covering the right hand side of his face which forces his right eye to remain closed due to the swelling. He’s wearing chain mail with a yellow and blue patched tabard with a stitched in sigil of a winged beast over the top. Following quickly behind is a grey bearded dwarf with a small monocle in his left eye. His total height of about 3’10” makes his human companion look slightly taller than he actually is. The dwarf is wearing a dirty white shirt with a fastened leather jerkin over the top of it with a Handaxe tucked in to a large belt that sits at his waist. He walks up to the bar and shouts out in a heavy accent “Glinda, pour me a Nomad and get a Glyndŵr for Sildar. We’ve got a busy evening ahead of us”
The barmaid quickly grabs two ivory tankards with golden coloured handles from somewhere behind the bar “Yes Mr Rockseeker sir, a Glyndŵr and a Nomad. I’ll get them right away sir” she says frantically as she makes her way to a pump and starts pouring.
The dwarf takes a few silver coins and places them on the bar before accepting the tankard and taking a large swig from it.
Zack offers another smile, as he offers his hand to shake with the both of them, if taken, he'd shake firmly. Nice to meet you both! Name's Zack~ And yes, though I've never been very good at it in particular. I still find it fun! His tone was upbeat, pleasant on the ears, but most of all friendly. He took his cards, and did what was necessary to prep his hand before starting. Licking his upper lip as he did so....
First Round: 17
Second Round: 12
Third Round: 21
Zack chuckles a bit as they each score a single point in each round.
If Zack were a Tabaxi, his ears would have perked up and faced the sound. Having heard the name Rockseeker, he knew the person who'd came to hire an entourage for some low-pay work had came in (Gah, just as I started! Lets see if I can finish one more round before he starts rollcall...) Zack hated starting something and leaving it unfinished.. it was against his nature .. However, if Gundrin began asking around for his hired hands, he'd politely back out of the game, explaining that his 'contract' was here.
Hondu smiles “looks like that’s two hands for me” he starts pulling the piles of gold sat in front of Zack and Davis.
Gundran walks over to the center of the room. He takes a sip of ale and clears his throat “Everyone that is here do a small job for me, please, follow me this way” Gundren indicates towards the archway on the far wall and makes his way down the couple of steps into the back room. The room is small with a large oak table sitting in the middle of it with a large bench on either side “Come and sit down, we have a lot to discuss”
“Hmm, I thought there would be one or two extras, anyway, if they turn up this evening or in the morning then I’m sure one of you can fill them in… Right, let’s get down to business shall we?” He says before taking another mouthful of drink, the froth sitting on his moustache. “I’vegot a wagon load of mining supplies that needs taking from Neverwinter to a trading post at Barthen’s Provisions in Phandalin as soon as possible. It’s about two days ride and you will each be rewarded ten gold pieces for its safe arrival. I was hoping it would be ready by now but I was informed this afternoon that a couple of items were missing and that they will be here by the morning. Sildar and I will be riding out tonight, we have some business to sort out in Phandalin that can’t wait any longer. Does anybody have any questions?”
Zack smiles as his gloves hand disappears into his dark hair, and says It would appear to be my loss fella's. Ah well, you can't win em all eh? he says with a smile, pushign his 5 gold pieces into their pot, and standing up to excuse himself Sorry to leave so soon, but the person i was waiting for just walked in the door. I guess I can find a way to earn back my losses and challenge you again sometime! With that, he'd offer them a respectful bow, before pushing his chair back in.
-----------
Zack would hear the roll call, and nod his final farewell to the pair he'd been playing with just moments before. As he walked, his eyes wandered a bit, fallign temporarily on the Dark Skinned Elf, his brow furrowing.. he shook it off for now, there was time to ask questions later. Though if she noticed his gaze before it left he would just smile and give her a thumbs-up. Then, Following Sildar and Gundren to the aforementioned location. Once the pair had settled in wherever they may, zack would offer them both a handshake before saying Yo! Zack, Mercenary for hire, reporting for duty!I heard about the job the other day, and I take on all work!(Afterall, in order to make it big, you need to have money first!)
With that, he'd lean against the wall, crossing his arms, as Gundren explained the situation. his sword clanking softly against the wood. Zack thought the request was simple enough.. just a simple, low danger escort mission right? Plus this would be the first time he'd be working with others since.... his eye twitched... like a glitch in his memory.
He raised his hand to his forehead, holding it until the white spot vanished, coming back to the reality at hand. Simple enough. Just get it from A to B starting in the morning when it's ready!
((OOC - Unfortunately I need to pass out for work. I'll try to be awake a few hours before I need to go! DM, Feel free to control me if necessary to keep the story going!))
Gribz will follow Mr. Rockseeker into the back room, his mind full of wild adventures and cheering crowds. Practically dancing with excitement, Gribz will take a seat and call for another Nomad for Mr. Rockseeker. Gribz is beaming, his large, sharp, but very white teeth gleaming in the torchlight. Listening to Mr. Rockseeker's tale, the smile falters a bit, then fades altogether. (A supply delivery? That's hardly an adventure at all..) The epic fantasies in his head now replaced with scenes of unending countryside atop a flatulent mule, hauling turnips to and fro. Then Gribz hears the reward (Ten gold pieces!? For two days of work? That'd be a great start to funding an adventure of my own... Ah, what the hell, I'll do it.) Gribz will pipe up "Gribz, theatrical gladiator of Thellasian's Traveling Theater, at your service and I have only one question for you sir... When do we start?"

Davis smirks. “Let’s try that again shall we?” He re-shuffles the deck and hands out the cards.

“I’ve got a wagon load of mining supplies that needs taking from Neverwinter to a trading post at Barthen’s Provisions in Phandalin as soon as possible.

Zack, Mercenary for hire, reporting for duty! I heard about the job the other day, and I take on all work! (Afterall, in order to make it big, you need to have money first!)

Gribz
