Much like the others, this shadow is successful in melding back into the statue.
It now goes to Eldon, who witnesses the shadows morphing back into Strahd's statue after unleashing their devastating fury on Kestrell. Shadowy trails can still be seen however, as the third shadow struggled to meld into the statue. Eldon can make a History check to determine if he's familiar with shadows.
Eldon knows that shadows are undead, and anyone who is slain by a shadow, will rise to become a shadow themselves.
(OOC): We're going to end combat here as all shadows have essentially exited combat.
Kestrell's body lays lifeless on the gritty floor. His skin shriveled profusely as his life was depleted from him. Remnants of the shadow can still be seen within the statue of Strahd. How does the party react?
Urgog walks into the room where Kestrell lays and grunts looking at the shriveled body. He looks around carefully to see if he can determine what happened. He looks at Eldon and Cinna, "What happened to him?"
All the shadows have hidden back into the statue. You can faintly see shadowy trails from the statue. After a few seconds, the shadowy trails dissolve into the statue and it now appears as a normal depiction of Strahd.
Eldon just sighs "Poor soul - he's met a horrible fate. The statue is guarded by undead shadows that appear to drain your life force to turn you into one. What should we do, it'd be to risky to get his body."
What will the party do from here? You're now aware that the shadows that slain Kestrell is hiding in the statue of Strahd. Kestrell's corpse is lying before the statue. Will the party attack the shadows, retrieve Kestrell's body, or leave?
Urgog scans the room, and notices something odd in the middle of the east wall of the shrine room. Urgog inspects the door to see that there's a thin layer of clay coating a rotten, wooden door. He deduces that the clay was concealing the door. If Urgog opens the door, he will see that behind the door is a stone staircase that leads ten feet up that leads to a landing. The landing has a 6-foot-high ceiling of close-fitting planks with a wooden trapdoor set into it. The trapdoor is bolted shut from this side.
Urgog grunts and moves over to the wall and smashes into it to get to the door and opens it and looks up. He looks back at the party. "Goes up. Be right back." He steps into the area and climbs the ladder up to the trap door. He unlocks it and climbs carefully into the room above.
Urgog grunts as he ascends up the stairwell, his massive frame squeezing through the narrow space. He opens the trap door, and sees that this leads to the Den of Wolves, which is a room on the first floor of the Durst Manor.
Urgog steps into the Den of Wolves, and sees that this is an oak-paneled room that resembles a hunter’s den. Mounted above the fireplace is a stag’s head, and positioned around the outskirts of the room are three stuffed wolves. Two padded chairs draped in animal furs face the hearth, with an oak table between them supporting a cask of wine, two carved wooden goblets, a pipe rack, and a candelabrum. A chandelier hangs above a cloth-covered table surrounded by four chairs. They're two cabinets in the room, both of which are open, and empty.
Zed continues to casually stroll through the basement, having noticed the chanting having gotten slightly quieter in this area.
It now goes to Urgog.

It now goes to (S5) Shadow. The shadow will scan the room in search of other defilers.
The shadow doesn't spot any one else within the vicinity, and will now move back to Strahd's statue.

Zed slowly makes his way back towards the rest of the crew. He turns the corner and finds the crew standing solemnly around a shriveled up body.
