Urgog shrugs as he finds noting and descends back down to the group to relay where the ladder leads. Ponders maybe telling Zed about the wine in case he was thirsty but shrugs.
Urgog looks back at what is left of Kestrell , "Nothing we can do for him. You said he will turn or could turn into one of the things that got him. If we take his body with us, we may get attacked later. Only thing we can do is either leave him or take him to the empty crypts we found."
Zed and Urgog seem not to have taken to kind to Kestrell during the time they've known each other. They seem rather unbothered by his demise as they both decide to leave his body behind in pursuit of the chanting that's echoing throughout the basement. Eldon and Cinna remain in the Darklord's Shrine, unsure of what to do. They know that Kestrell's body still lies there, and that the five shadows that slain him are hidden within Strahd's statue. What are they doing?
Cinna follows the others. "I hate to leave him here, but carrying him right now might mean we aren't prepared to defend ourselves well. I hope we can care for his body later."
Cinna and Eldon decide it's best to leave Kestrell's body behind and follows after Zed and Urgog. They all go down the spiral of steps to descend further into the basement of Durst Manor. They eventually enter what was known as the Reliquary, and the ghostly chanting here is discernible, as they're able to hear copious voices chanting "He is the ancient, He is the land!" over and over.
The reliquary is quite a spacious room, with pillars throughout to support the floors above. They're thirteen niches along the walls of the room, filled with items that were used for rituals. They can see that they're two openings on the western wall. An entrance to a prison, and the southernmost has a 20-degree slope into murky water that's blocked by a rusty portcullis.
Urgog walks straight to the western wall, and approaches the niche between the two entrance ways. Urgog can see that relic embedded here is a hag’s severed finger.
Eldon will walk to where he can see into the room the pool of water to see if he can make anything out with both his normal vision and eyes of the grave.

Looking down the tunnel that has the 20-degree slope, Eldon sees there's a rusty portcullis that's blocking entry into the flooded chamber. He can't see much transpiring in the chamber, but can hear the ghostly chanting. He would also feel uneasy as he can sense undeath all around him.
"Doesn't seem like we can get through that gate there. Let's go this way."Zed says as he nods towards the open entrance ten feet to the right of the gate. He begins to make his way towards the hallway.

Zed and Eldon walk through the hallway to enter the cultist's prison. They can see the holding cells containing skeletons attached to manacles bolted to the basement wall. The stench of death is filling their noses. They progress further into the prison to see more of the same. Their curiosity leads them to find a body that's clad in a tattered black robe. Unlike the other skeletons, this skeleton is hoisted in the air via a pike. It appears as if this particular person was being tortured. On one of its bony fingers, is a dusty ring.
Zed and Eldon can make a Perception check as they move through the prison.
Zed doesn't see any traps. He does find a wall that has been deteriorating to the point he can see through it. The other side of the wall is the ritual chamber, and Zed can hear the "He is the Ancient, He is the Land!" chants booming through the holes in the wall. He gets the sense the wall could be shattered with sufficient physical process to allow entry into the ritual chamber.
The cask of wine has liquid that's deteriorated from time. It has a foul aroma that makes Urgog gag. The pipe rack is empty.
