Relentless, the dwarf reloads slowly and carefully before exiting the wreck, waiting for the last survivor to exit before rejoining the group now around the fallen captor on the beach.
Lyle immediately begins to separate Hafkris from his weapons and belongings. He’ll drag them out of reach. “I’d feel sorry for you Hafkris, but... no. I don’t. You’re just a mean old bastard who got what was coming to him.”
Lyle begins to check through any pouches, packs, belt loops etc.
Out on the beach, the wind and rain's chill robs you of the little heat your meager clothing provides and the human girl shivers in the cold. Remus, your brief companion, has suffered fatally for his rashness, and Hafkris' life is quickly departing him. Bound for the 9th level of Hell, you are sure, if there is any justice in the world.
OCC: I am going to assume you search him and find
Studded leather armor
Longsword
Dagger
Boots
Oiled Cloak
Pouch containing
7 sp
13 cp
a double sided cameo of two similar women, one side in alabaster and the other in onyx. (30 gp)
vial of dark red liquid with a a silver rune banded on it (5 sp)
”Fair is fair. The money we’ll divide equally when we get to someplace more civilized. And we ought to go together. Alone, we’ll get scooped up by any farmer and his brother. As for the loot, first pick goes to Eurim for his most excellent aim. Then Eurim decides who picks next. If you’re last, well... that’s a shitty deal from life, eh? There’s not much to choose from. Best to make do with what you get. And always remember: none of these things saved Hafkris. Your wits and your hands will get you farther than any amount of gold or any sharpened blade.”
Lyle will hang onto the money in the pouch for now, since no one has pockets.
Lusith will immediately seize the cloak and wrap it around her, trying to guide her to a more sheltered area out of the wind and rain.
Looking to the others, "Call it my share if you wish, the gods will provide me with anything they feel I need." Looking back to the girl, "I'm called Lusith, may I ask your name?"
Nicholas, who had been reaching for the cloak before Lyle began to speak, glared at Lusith. “Seems pretty clear to me whatever gods may be have forgotten us out here,” he grumbled. “Quick wits, fast hands, or a stroke of luck will be what saves us now.”
"Don't be silly, if they had forgotten would we have been freed from that ship? Or would a handful of starved slaves been able to overcome an armed man? Of course not, the gods have spoken, freeing us and giving us this victory, they obviously have a plan for us. We need only watch for the signs and follow their will."
"I'll take the boots. No sense in passing up good boots." Shouldering the heavy crossbow, Eurim inspects the boots, sniffs them, scowls, and then proceeds to put them on.
"The Girl gets the cloak. Pick whoever's next."
With that stomps towards the end of the beach, hoping to get a sense of what shelter might be available further inland.
Thankful that he wasn't called on to go toe-to-toe with Hafkris, the half-elf does his best to sweep his shoulder-length hair off his face as the wind rattles round him.
"Our esteemed friend Lyle here has the right of it - we must band together if we are to avoid an untimely demise, such as that of dear Hafkris, or our unfortunate colleague here." He prods the body of Remus slightly with his toe. "Sustenance, refreshment and accommodations shall also be required, and we will not find it here."
Janey steps forward. "I will take that dagger if no-one has any objections. The rest of it is too big to be of any use to me"
Janey will take the dagger if nobody objects and then turns back to the ship. Once inside she will move to the aft hold, remembering the sacks of ruined grain. Assuming there are at least two remaining, she will empty two of the remaining sacks and wrap one around her shoulders for warmth, and then stash her manacles inside the other. She will then proceed to empty the other sacks to bring outside to offer to the others. [ooc: how many of these sacks are there?]
She then removes the book, the journal and the navigation chart from the medium chest and places them in the sack containing her manacles. Stopping on the way back outside, she also picks up the crossbow bolts and places them in the sack as well, feeling satisfied that she has retrieved anything of use.
Janey - the sacks of flour and oats have been rendered inedible by the spilled ale and wine as they lay on the deck.
The beach is an inhospitable shelf of rock and sand. The cliff opposite the ship rises 40 ft, though it would be possible to scale. At either end of the beach the cliff lowers to about 20 ft before plunging into the raging sea, and climbing would be possible with care.
As you divide Hafkris' belongings, you hear the grinding of wood and rock.
After a moment, the girl says, "The ship is moving and the tide is coming rising. That must mean it's mid afternoon. Looking at this place, it will probably be underwater at high tide. We can't stay here.
"I rather think dividing these items politely goes out the window when we're at risk of drowning, so someone claim ownership of that sword, and let us make haste."
The half-elf picks up the leather armor warily, and gags as he slips it on, as the stench of Hafkris, more so the stench of dead Hafkris, invades his nostrils. He shudders as the extra layer of clothing provides some respite from the cold.
OOC - For the DM regarding Janey's last post - I don't think she was trying to eat the contents. :)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Lyle looks at Nicholas and the sword.
“You take it. Might be able to sell it later if you think it’s too much. And maybe have a sip of this, might keep the cold off.” Lyle hands Nicholas the vial with the dark red liquid.
The sacks are usable, but not edible (unless you are Goatborn)
Studying the vial, there is something oddly familiar about the silver design, but it offers no other clues.
Scrambling up the broken timbers you make it to the deck. The reason the hatch could not open is not obvious as the broken mainmast lays across the deck. Shreds of canvas cling to the yard, but the sail is gone. Rope though is in plentiful supply as it trails from the broken yard.
The deck is awash with water and seaweed.
Looking out into the distance, ominous, black, swirling clouds are briefly illuminated by flashes of lightening. The thunder is too far away to be heard over the surf.
Eurim approaches the bleak wall and stares up it, trying to pick out the safest path. He decides on one of the slightly smaller ridges, a stretch about 25-30 ft high. Looking back to the boat, he sees the rest of the survivors milling around and exploring the wreck. With a thump, he sits down against the ridge, waiting for the others to try and make an ascent.

It's only the sacks themselves I want, not their contents :) Are the sacks themselves still usable?
OOC - More importantly, are the sacks edible? :)
