Remus shrugs and then massages his wrists. Remus tries to stand brushing his pants. He looks at Lyle and gives him a weak smile.
"Hafkris, what a saint," Remus remarks sarcastically. Remus looks down at his hands. They were cut up and full of callouses due to hard labor. He wanted his tools. Those savages took them away. Maybe he can convince the others to look around before abandoning ship.
"You guys want to look around, maybe we can get some supplies or something," Remus suggests
"I believe they created a tenth Hell, just for Hafkris." The half-elf frowns as the strains of a song carry on the wind towards the group. "Perhaps the Hells will take him sooner rather than later so we can end that infernal wailing!"
Denethir straightens up, wincing in pain as he massages a shoulder and rotates his arms to get some much needed blood pumping round them. Looking round the group, he weighs up their options. "While we obviously outnumber this abhorrent slaver, all of you appear to be in as terrible a condition as myself. That is to say, we should only resort to combat if other avenues fail us. Brutes like this Hafkris character can be of some utility, should we convince him that working for the common good would be more beneficial than a brawl on a beach."
Scooping up the sharpest splinter of wood he can see, to use as a makeshift dagger, the half-elf shrugs. "If he cannot be made to see reason however, I will have no qualms about ending his miserable life."
If makeshift weapons aren't an option here, no worries.
Rubbing his wrists after Lyle unlocks the manacles around them, Nicholas says, “Thanks, buddy.” Then he lowers his voice and whispers, “Let’s go find the captain’s cabin. There sure to be something worth taking there.” He reaches down and picks up one of the splintered legs from their bunks, wielding it like a club. He also brings his manacles along, following Lyle’s lead.
"Anythin' on the deck's like to be washed away, along with every other soul left on this boat."
The dwarf breathes a sigh of relief as his manacles are at last removed. He suddenly seems to stand up a little taller.
"The way Hafkris is walking out there, there might be a short window where we could step out and round the boulder - him not the wiser, see? Take stock of what's left outside, then we put him out of his miserable life."
He takes another glance out the shattered bow. "Can't let him see us though - that'll lose us our first and main weapon."
Just to be clear, we’ve explored all of the ship that we can, right?
if so, Lyle will speak up for a moment “Perhaps we try both plans. Some sneak closer to Hafkris while one of us tries to talk to him. If he fights, we’ll jump him. Throw rocks at him, beat him, whatever it takes. If he helps... then we’ll see.”
Lyle will try to sneak out of the ship onto the beach, and find cover. He’ll find some rocks he can throw and get close enough to hit Hafkris if things go awry.
You have not explored the aft section. Beyond the bulkhead. Sorry if the map wasnt clear. There is a bulkhead dividing the back third.. And a door to it.

OK, Lyle will go with Nicholas to explore the aft then first
This hold is in no better shape than the forward hold. The collision with the boulders to starboard tore open a huge part of the galley's hull here, and the bottom of the hold is swamped in sea-water. This hold is still partly in the water.
The hold contains four broken barrels which have spilled wine and ale everywhere; Dozens of sacks of grain, soaked with wine, ale, seawater, and rainwater, all useless. Besides the ruined provisions:
Janey follows Nicolas and Lyle to the aft of the ship and looks through the door they just opened. She closes her eyes in dismay at she sight of the spoiled food.
When she opens them again, she notices the human girl seated nearby crying. "Hey it'll be alright" she says soothingly as she crouches in front of the girl. "We will find a way out of this."
Most of the chest is filled with brightly colored seashells and rocks with strange fossil impressions. On top however, is a navigation chart (see below - black line is tracked path, red future course), a book that looks like a journal which you can not read, and another book which uses common characters but is in a language which seems familiar but you do not know.
Small Chest:
Contains a broken (at the torso) silver statue of a woman with small horns on her head. From her back are to broken stubs, and a third from her lower back.
Lyle takes one of the provision sacks, dumps it, and stuffs the silver statue in it. Then hands Nicholas another sack. He holds onto three of the crossbow bolts.
“I’m not quite large enough to really use this beast of a crossbow, but I think we’d be foolish to try dealing with Hafkris without it. Do you want it, Nick, or should I ask one of the others?”

There are makeshift weapons... shackles and chain, splinters of wood, bed legs...

“Agreed. But we need to be quick, this ship is falling apart. Who knows when it’ll get washed back out to sea.”
Lyle and Nicholas look for what’s left of the ship, and any valuables.

In the slave hold, there is nothing. There is the other part of the deck, and there is a ladder built into the wall.

Lyle climbs the ladder and peeks up above, trying to be as quiet as he can be.

Nicholas will try the door to the aft section, unless Lyle is already out, in which case he will stick close to his smaller friend.

Lyle will see if any of the keys he has open either of the chests. If not, he’ll see if he can jimmy them open with a crossbow bolt.

None of the keys will open the chest.
You can roll Pick/Lock.... Dex for each chest. :)
OCC BTW: Barrel staves make decent clubs
