"So it's just the four of us and Master Ebokk, then? I think I missed this part, but where is your ship and crew? Should we be going now? I'm ready," and she glances over her shoulder again.
Erric turns to Jambiya and asks, "Are you alright? Will they be alright? I don't want the shenanigans you get into with us goofballs to get in between you and your dads. They care about you very much."
While Ebokk is going over the document with Maldorn and Erric, the old coot will make sure to pay at least half attention to the mannerisms of the dwarf in hopes of extracting any now-spoken information from the way he is delivering his tale:
Later, as Erric describes the casket, Maldorn brings it out of his pack: "Here is the object my bard companion is describing, along with the key our dear Jambiya here found. I would not mind trading it with you, dear Eleanor-asys. That is, if the rest of my companions agree, of course."
Maldorn will also try to read the enigmatic gnome's facial expressions:
Ebokk, being a dwarf, is probably just a little bit younger than Maldorn, but he acts a lot like Erric. He's a little shy when put on the spot, but once he gets going, he seems to warm up to the idea of sharing his tale. As far as you can tell, he's being honest and isn't trying to hide anything.
Eilikasys is a master of the mask (not showing her emotion), but again, you sense she's just trying to be helpful. She appears to hold some affection for the dwarf, for whatever reason, but probably thinks the search for Ebokk's father is a fool's errand. She seems to help him more out of kindness than because she thinks he'll succeed.
Eilikasys accepts the casket and key. Her eyes light up — just a smidgen — as she accepts it from the hunter. She looks over the ornate box, testing the hinges and lock mechanism. Her long-nailed fingers feel of the wood and the gold. Finally, she sticks her delicate nose to the empty interior padding. "You found this in a burnt wreck?" she says more than asks. She closes the lid and places the casket on the table. "No doubt Sune protected it. I won't ask what was it in, as you are clearly wanting to keep whatever was in the vials. I will gladly give you 95 gold pieces for the box and key." She looks at Maldorn and Erric and awaits their decision.
Ebokk, a small smile on his lips, looks back and forth between them.
After the party's answer ...
"Was this the only treasure you found? No other homages to the goddess?" the gnome asks, exuding a little more energy.
"Let me confer with my colleagues -- this box is of the finest quality so it is no small decision, you understand," Erric says with outward sincerity.
He nods at Maldorn and then walks with Jambiya over to the bar to Anafrey. He speaks in a very low tone, catching Anafrey up on things. "I feel like she's lowballing us and is very interested in it. We could get more. I didn't want to pull the trigger on more negotiating without, well, asking you all if you'd like to part with it. We're keeping the potions -- those are invaluable. But do we want to part ways with the box? Gold would be a nice thing to have more of, and I don't know what we'd do with a box."
Maldorn follows Erric and adds his two cents to the private discussion: "Seller's remorse is setting in early with me, dear companions. Something tells me the box might still hold some secrets. Perhaps we should have tested it. Do you think the box is magical in any way? Do you think Sune protected it once or is it some sort of indestructible box now? Or perhaps it isolates valuables from magic?"
Maldorn sighs: "Maybe we can just go back to the table and kindly ask the lady gnome to be open with us. She buys and sells things for a living. Perhaps she has an eye for this kind of thing."
Jambiya doesn't care about the box. She's never had to buy a thing for herself in her life.
"That seems like a lot of gold, and it isn't really our box, is it? I guess they didn't have children or anything though, so it doesn't really have an owner. Treasure is treasure and all that. If you guys think it's worth more, it's okay with me to try to get a little more for it, or find something else about it."

"Aye, you are right, Jambiya." Maldorn comes to a realization. "I am probably just overthinking it. If Leric wants to try and sweet-talk this lady for a bit more information or gold on the box, I am fine with that, but in the end we should probably just accept the offer."
With that, Maldorn returns to the table and smiles at Eilikasys while he waits for Erric to take point.
Anafrey looks at her companions quizzically, "I haven't the first idea as to why we'd need to keep such a thing; toss it in a ditch, sell it, let her have it s'all the same to Anafrey." She up ends the bottle and then looks disappointed that it is already empty.
Erric nods as his companions weigh in. "I can try to convince her of the truth that it's certainly worth more than that. I can also come clean and tell her that we don't know of any magical properties, and ask her if we could have it appraised by someone who can identify any such properties."
He heads back to the gnomish lady. "Apologies, my Lady. It's a very important decision! To be perfectly honest, we do not know exactly what properties the box possesses. Do you have the means to appraise it? If not, it might make sense for us to have it looked at so we know what we're dealing with and it earns a fair value. Our friend Dirk here sold a mirror that was far more than he thought, and I would simply feel awful if something befell you out of ignorance of some property of this treasured artifact of Sune's love." (OOC: Are we still operating under the 22 persuasion roll from Erric's sales pitch or do you need another?)
He thinks to himself if he knows anyone in town who might be able to identify the properties of magical items, and if not, anyone in his... networks who would easily be able to perform such a task. He also takes another look at the box as he's talking, trying to puzzle out anything he can observe from it. (History for network-checking? 9; Arcana for exam: 5)
Eilikasys gives Erric a slight smile, and a twinkle dances in her eye for just a second before she blinks and the momentary display of mirth are gone. "I don't think this particular gem is magical, but let me check." She reaching into an interior pocket of the ornate vest she is wearing. "If I wasn't so pleased you agreed to accompany Ebokk, I'd deduct the cost of this out of my offer," she says, pulling a scroll into view. She unrolls the parchment and reads the strange words. At the conclusion, her eyes flash blue, and she looks at the casket. "No magic," she says flatly. She then begins looking at each of the adventurers. "The only magic items I see are on you two," she says to Jambiya and Erric.
Erric, you know people who have used others to test items for magical content, but you've never met any of them.
Erric looks down at himself with a start, as if he could see something glowing. "What?"
His hand goes to the crispy silvered rapier from the mansion. "This? What magic do you see?"
He smiles, and pulls his birdpipes to his lips. "Or this? I always knew my song was transcendent, but magical? Really?" He plays a bit of a melody from a very complex gnomish aria and casts minor illusion to provide some additional harmony to build the effect. (Performance 6)
Eilikasys watches Erric for a few seconds, then looks at Ebokk. The dwarf shrugs. When Erric finishes, the gnome clears her throat. "Abysmal" she says bluntly. "Not your sword. Did you not know? You have something in your pack. Yours too, young lady," she says, waving a finger at Jambiya.
Erric, taken aback at the criticism, drops his birdpipes back into his pocket and opens his bag without a word. He rifles through, pushing aside more small improvised instruments and some pretty colored stones, utterly dumbfounded, and looking to Jambiya for a clue.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"It's the potion, Leric." Maldorn clarifies as he thinks it is necessary. "Both Jambiya and you are carrying a vial. Though I don't know about that dagger."
"At any rate, I believe we are ready to accept your offer, Lady Lenorasys. Why don't you thrown another 5 golden pieces in the pile and make it easier on all of us in splitting the sale's proceeds in four equal piles? Surely we deserve a small tip for our honesty regarding our lack of knowledge about the casket. Or perhaps you'd prefer looking at it as a small show of gratitude towards us accepting to help your benefactor here just moments after arriving back home from a previous adventure, yes?"
As Jambiya holds both the vial and the dagger, one per hand, Eilikasys looks at them both. "The potion, I recognize as Sune's Kiss," the gnome says. "I assume that is what was held within the casket dedicated to the goddess? The dagger, I don't recognize, but it has a magical aura as well. May I see it?"
Jambiya, you picked up the dagger off the fancy zombie at the same time you picked up the key.
The gnome takes the dagger and examines it. "Beautiful," she comments. "A prime example of elven craftsmanship." She looks at Jambiya. "It would behoove you to have someone adept at identifying magical properties to examine this. Unless you're willing to part with it. I could give you 200 gold for both the casket and the dagger."

"She'll will be fine, Leric, and the other two can take care of themselves." Maldorn tries to calm all the elevated nerves around a bit.
