"A full night's sleep? It is still morning, lad (I think?)." Maldorn has a bit of a confused look on his face. "Like the dwarf said, none of us died. I say we take some time right here to rest, build a fire and eat some crab... take turns keeping watch and all. Hard to imagine something will approach unnoticed on an open beach. We even saw the rock-like crabs. In about an hour or two, once our nerves are down, we can make our next move, be it going to the wreck or further inland. What do you all say?"
Maldorn picks up Sagitta from the rowboat and lets him entangle his arm. He then grabs his bow and begins looking for a spare bowstring in his backpack. "You'll be alright, Jambiya. Hunting is always a bit dangerous but it makes you appreciate life."
Anafrey would sigh after finishing off what was left in her flask. "I uhh... I think a short rest might be nice" She would say after Jambiya and Erric finish freaking out. "I think the two of you could use a drink... and I could use another drink" She would say with a small frown as she realizes that she has no more booze.. pouring the empty flasks out into the air. "You guys don't need to.... to worry... because Anafrey isn't gunna let anything bad happen to any of you...*hic*" The white haired woman would say as she gets up and stumbles across the sand towards her companions. Once close, she would flop on to her butt with a spray of sand and look to the others. "I love you guys... She would say with a grin, sluring her words slightly before letting out a loud belch. She would then fall face first into the sand with her head covered in a mess of white hair. After a moment or two her hand would reach or her broken rapier and she would hold it out from her body, still laying face down in the sand. "I need a new weapon..." She would mumble into the sand, barley loud enough for those around her to hear.
Jambiya sniffles and stares skywards. Then she screams again, angrily, and shoots crackling white and green energy blasts into the sky one after the other. After thirty seconds of that, she sighs and lets her arms fall to her sides again. Craning her head to look at Erric, she sniffles again. "Thank you, Erric. You're a kind man and a good friend."
When Anafrey stumbles over and falls face first into the sand, Jambiya's instincts take over. Theirs is a well-rehearsed dance. She sits up and rolls Anafrey over. "Stop eating sand. We'll find you a new weapon somewhere, maybe Maldorn can spare one if you've not got something at hand. Or Ebokk can row back to the boat and get something pointy. Maldorn, you're right, you're all right, of course. We survived, and after a little rest, we'll be all right to go on."
She stands up, shakes the sand off, and runs her hands through her short black hair. She sets her sharp teeth in a can-do smile. "Let's set someone to watch, Maldorn? Erric, why don't you and I gather some driftwood and start a little fire, we can relax with some sizzling crab. Has anyone got any... spices? Salt? No mind, it'll still be tasty."
OOC > Short rest is my vote.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. Here's my D&D stuff. I love it so.
Erric sighs, knowing that it's a long time until he can get some real rest, but still feeling drained. He pulls out his lute and starts strumming, as calming music pushes back against the wind on the beach, helping his friends find rest. (Short rest rolling one hit die: 6 plus 4 from "song of rest" which everyone can apply if they roll hit dice)
He will ritually cast unseen servant and have it help clean the crab goo off of anything that needs de-gooing. He offers Anafrey to borrow his silvered rapier, since she can use it better than he can. He'll stick to his two daggers and try to stay out of giant crab mosh pits for the rest of the day.
As he tries his first roast giant crab skewers, he asks, "so do we think this island is really just empty apart from local flora and fauna?"
When Erric offers Anafrey the rapier, she would smile and take the weapon.. wiping a tear form her eye. (not sure if she is happy or if she has sand in her eyes). "Thanks buddy. You can use this new dagger I made for ya... " She would say as she hands him the broken rapier.
Jambiya smiles at Anafrey's "gift" too Erric. She'll gather some driftwood while directing Anafrey to "make some sort of cooking thing, you're woods crafty," while suggesting we use a piece of the shell as a pot of sorts. When ready, she'll pass a hand over the wood to start it on fire (Druidcraft). Then she'll start cooking crab.

“How about we boil the giant claw on some salty sea water, Jambiya? That’s gotta do something in terms of spices, right?” Maldorn asks, being familiar with only the most basic of field cooking.
Anafrey would let out a grown... "Alright.. I will see about finding some food.. and then see about pulling some useful bits off of these crabs.." She would say as she rubbed her head. "Why is this beach soo bright... she would grumble as she set off to find some wood and get a fire started. (survival 21)
After working on getting a cooking fire started, she would focus her attention on the crabs. "Hey... Uhh.. you guys think we could make some kind of Breastplates or Half Plate out of these things? She would say knocking on the creature before trying to remove some meat from the corpse.
IF she thinks she can remove large enough sections to make a few brestplates, she will try to do so.. (Survival if I have to roll again 16)
OOC: You're all doing this and that, but everyone can roll for a short rest if you want to. Also, I was under the same impression as Mingofaust where song of rest is concerned — that the bard rolled and everyone got the same bonus. However, after seeing Maldorn roll for himself, I did some reading, and it looks like it makes more sense for everyone to roll their own bonus. So, Mingofaust, please roll 1d6 to add to your rolled 5 hp. Ebokk rolls: 8 + 4 :: retcon to roll for second wind PRIOR to short rest: 10.
OOC2: I have given Anafrey the silvered rapier and Erric the broken rapier. Erric, the broken rapier cannot be thrown, even though it has that innate property.
OOC3: Anafrey, how drunk are you? I'm considering asking you to roll those survival checks at disadvantage, but you don't seem to be as drunk in your last post as the one prior, so maybe not.
You all have no trouble starting a fire and getting some crab meat cooking using shells as makeshift cooking containers and plates. Ebokk also offers his mess kit to supplement. The crab tastes great and dulls the pain of the battle. Your eyes constantly turn back to the beach, and you occasionally see something move in the distance, but it's too far away to make you feel threatened in any way.
Anafrey, in your alcohol-enhanced mind, you can see all kinds of possibilities for how to use the shells of the giant crabs to protect you and your allies.
OOC: Sorry, I assumed a bit too much general knowledge for song of rest, and assumed I was being clearer than I was - anyone who rolls their own hit dice on a short rest who can hear the song ALSO rolls their own d6 and gains that in addition to their own hit die roll. Sorry your follow-up rolls didn't work in your favor Jambiya! Erric's also got a lot of abilities/functions that recharge on long rest, and given how the last adventure's fights took place in one day and the fight with the kenkus completely drained him, he's looking to take it easy on this one and go slower.
OOC: The song Erric played for song of rest sounds exactly like Enya's Orinoco Flow (Sail Away), just with locations all around Faerun substituted in.
Erric smiles gently at Anafrey's offer of the broken rapier, furrowing his brow at her speech. "Are you out completely, 'frey? You've got more on the ship, don't you? You bought a great deal in Waterdeep. I'll put the broken hilt away safe for you -- my daggers are a bit more comfortable in my fingers anyways. And remember the silveryrapier's a loan. Try to keep it in one piece, hear?"
He tucks into the roast crab for a bit, giving contented eyerolls and warm smiles at Jambiya in a familiar sign that he's once again amazed at her cooking.
"Speaking of using our weapons again, we're just expecting an empty shipwreck, right? There's nothing we know that would suggest the wreck's inhabited, and the fox Jambiya talked to hadn't seen people. First question is do we want to comb this beach anymore, and potentially go into the woods? I can send our little invisible servant person carrying an empty crabshell or a piece of driftwood about 60 feet ahead of me to see if it attracts any kind of target as a warning."
He directs the unseen servant to start cleaning up as people finish up their meals.
"Second question is, when we row out to the wreck, do we want to keep quiet or should we make some noise from a distance to see if anything moves or comes out? I can make some fake noise, or honestly just sling a stone at the side of the hull, give it a good knock, and wake up anything that's in there while we're safely off the wreck."
Maldorn eats well and compliments Jambiya on the cooking. He then turns to Anafrey: "Icyshivers, are you serious about using crabs as armor? I know nothing about armorsmithing, so perhaps you can, but that just sounds like a bad idea to me... and, you are already armored, are you not?"
Turning to more serious matters: "Between the fight and the cooking, I think we made our presence here more than noticeable over the last hour or so. I would ideally prefer to search it well, but the fact that no one showed up so far makes me feel better about the chances of this place being inhabited. So, if that is what the group wants, I am willing to go to the wreck next. Also, it seems cruel to make Reebok here wait any longer for his family treasure now that it is right there, dangling in front of him after being sought after for so long."
OOC: Maldorn would have re-strung his longbow over the course of the short rest.
Speaking specifically to Eric, Maldorn says: "Seric, when hunting, announcing your approach is particularly unproductive. I don't know about you but I don't do a lot of underwater fighting. So, in case we need it, I am sure we could benefit from the surprise element." Looking at everyone else too now, he adds: "What do you all think?"
(OOC: I had her finish her flask... but I don't know how much was in there or how strong it was and how strong her tolerance is since it sounds like she drinks basically non-stop lol. The crab armor I was thinking might happen after eating and resting since I didn't know if trying to tear about giant crab carapaces would be considered resting :D)
Anafrey would sit and enjoy her crab meat and rubbing her head as a dull headache begins to set in. "You're right Erric.. I think there is some ship!" She would reply as a couple bits of crab fall from her mouth. After wiping her mouth with the back of her hand as her pale cheeks continue to bulge with crab meat, she would look up to Maldorn. "You bet I'm Serious. The armor I have is just leather.. It started as the hide of a creature too! Just a much softer and furrier creature... " She would say with a pause as she gulps down her mouth full of food. "This food is amazing by the way, you really have outdone yourself!" She would mention to Jambiya before looking back to Maldorn. "I bet if I can get these shells cleaned up and cut into the proper shapes... perhaps some leather straps to keep it all together.. We could definitely get some usable armor made." She would say with a grin.
Jambiya stretches after eating, feeling better. "I think we should approach the boat carefully, I'd rather surprise people than be surprised again. But we should... oh, wait!" She hops up and half runs to the edge of the grass. Then she crouches down and mumbles some stuff, coming back with her arms full of striking red berries.
"Everyone should take two of these, just in case. And as we found out at the haunted house, it's really the juice that makes it work. So if someone is down and out, you just have to squish one of these into their mouth."
She hands out two Goodberries to each party member (incl. Ebokk).

OOC: Sorry I didn't correct his earlier. In adding the goodberries to Ebokk's inventory (and adding a timestamp, since they're only good for 24 hours), I realize that it is now early evening. (Ship arrived just before midday, time to put the row boat in the water, time to row to shore, time to have a battle, time to clean and cook the food.) Not too early to begin thinking about setting up camp, or going ahead and agreeing to the idea of rowing back to the ship for sleepy time.
"I don't love the idea of going to a shipwreck as it's getting dark. If we have to, is it worth the risk camping on the beach for the night, or worth rowing back to the ship? I do think we could try to get some sense of the wreck by rowing around it once before we lose light on our way back to the good graces of Bosun Grout. Thoughts, friends? Ebokk?"
Maldorn takes the two berries and smiles in thanks to Jambiya, recognizing that the pre-exploration magical snacks are becoming something of an MO for the group.
The ranger then says in response to Erric: "Well, time has flown by us today. It is later than I though! The safe option would indeed be returning to the ship. An alternative would be camping on the beach, giving any potential inhabitant, if any, even more time to show us their faces. Perhaps having that extra assurance that the island is uninhabited could be useful information. We can always circle the wreck tomorrow morning, before going in. That said, if everyone else prefers to go back to the ship sooner rather than later, I will not argue."
"I say we camp out and check out the boat in the morning." Anafrey would say as she begins trying to find ways to remove some of the natural amored plates of the crabs.
"Let's get this cooked crab on the rowboat, circle the shipwreck, and take the sailors some grub!" Jambiya is on board with spending the night on board ship.
