You set the pair of scimitars, shields and shortbows outside the cave so you'll remember to take them on the way out, after stowing their corpses in the thickets.
As The Face of Beau Fjolnir breaches the entrance, just inside the cave mouth, a few uneven stone steps lead up to a small, dank chamber on the east side of the passage. The cave narrows to a steep fissure at the far end, and is filled with the stench of animals. Savage snarls and the sounds of rattling chains greet your ears where three wolves are chained up just inside the opening. Each wolf’s chain leads to an iron rod driven into the base of a stalagmite. They don't seem to notice you.
The ceiling in the cave is about 30' high. The sound of the stream echoes in here and seems much louder as a result. It is hard to hear much of anything beyond it.
Absinthe and Hymir can't see anything past the first few feet of the entrance and have a feeling that once they enter they will be effectively blind.
Absinthe speaks in a low tone so as to make sure only the party can hear.
"I have a plan that may just be crazy enough to work, once we get into 'the shit' and general battle chaos insues, I believe that if I ferociously trample the crowd of goblins, straight to the 'big one' and make quick work of him, the rest may no longer feel like contending with the likes of us. Thoughts?"
I wanted to be a big solution myself, and while I value your raw.. disgusting power... I need you. Personaly, can't speak for anyone else, I need you free to crush without being the target of ire. Anyone but you, these other guys are a little armored, but you my little fistikins.... I would rather you punch things one at a time....methodically. You're daddy's little homewrecker :-D
I dont think that's the right idea in this situation, the one goblin ran away because he was the only one left if you killed the big one sure they would all be scared but they would be trapped in a cave in with a goliath so they would be more scared of dying than anything else and would fight even focus on you, the question I have is this wolf's could prove problematic in the near future. Now I dont feel quite right about "fish in a barrel-ing (verb)" these tied up wolves but we may not have a choice. Unless we can calm them down and let them free or something
Wolves, who said anything about wolves? Look guys, I've got a solid idea. We pack it in, take the cart back to Neverwinter and party it up. It sounds like running away, but if we keep fighting the current, we are gonna drown.
"i believe we are obligated to see this through. Goblins are nit so dangerous when you see them coming." "We should push the advantage the are now... how do you say... rats in a trap. "
Dirk you are straight up about to get bit maybe by Az definitely by the wolves if you dont let him focus. And I'm not going to lie this is the most important thing in my life right now so I'm going to see it through but if I were to quit, it would 100% not be before we save our mutual friend
You assume he's still alive, or needs to be saved. We don't know anything, we could be pawns eating up bread crumbs. I'll follow you guys but be very careful that you aren't playing right into someone's hands, I'll be sure to bow out before that.
well I assure you I'm happy you are sceptical but they were forcefully dragged off so although it could all be "staged" which seems unnecessary complicated since we already trusted our friend has been noted, also you basically saying the first sign of trouble you are going to run away and abandon us is also noted.
I'm not specifying anything save that we know so little except what little has been conveniently placed in our path. I'm not saying I'll cut and run at the first sign of trouble either, I am saying that I wont follow you if you walk off a cliff. *raising my index finger There's a difference.
"Listen to him. Dogs accept pats and accolades. You deal with wolves now we are not so forgiving." I stare intently into the eyes of the closest wolf to begin my ritual. "Have a look around this wont take long"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
...we? I'll let you focus on the ritual before I char these unfortunately imprisoned creatures but I would like to talk later when we have some downtime
I would like to roll insight on the wolves before and after Az finishes talking to them if it's just one roll use the first I guess. I would like to know the creatures intent specifically if they are actually calm or just pretending to get out of chains and eat us.

Put your spoiler here. "1. My brothers (sisters) it pains me to see you chained and mistreated. Tell me what creatures did this to you so I may rip their throats out."
3. If they are your pack why the chains? My pack never chained me to them.wolves should run under the moon and hunt.
5. Or perhaps they are not worth your trust
7. No we wouldn't want that. Would you be interested in two freshly dead horses about 5 miles down the road. I was going to go back and eat them later but I see no reason to not share with new friends.
conversation with wolves.
I take the jerky I have in my pack and offer it evenly to them. I ask the group. "Did anyone forage fresh meat?"
AH! I nearly forgot: everyone gains 75 XP for dealing with the goblin bandits and successfully finding Cragmaw Hideout!
Az Emberi completes his ritual after a few minutes of meditation and reciting a quiet mantra. He stands up and opens his eyes, which have somehow become a little more feral looking. He moves past Fjolnir, who keeps out of sight, allowing the wolf whisperer to work his magic.
The wolves, upon seeing Az Emberi step toward them, bound up from their relaxed position and begin to snarl, hair standing up along their spine. Before a bark or howl exits their mouths, however, they are struck with confusion upon actually being able to understand his words. They stop, collaborate and listen.
2) "Chained, yes. Mistreated, no. We are well fed. We are among our pack, our family. We don't want you to kill them."
4) The wolves look at each other. The one that was talking continues. "We don't know why. Perhaps we have not gained their trust? We will work harder to do so."
6) The wolves eagerly gobble up the food you give them. "Thank you. We do not want to upset the alpha. But, you're free to look around we won't bother you. I can't promise it will stay that way. If the alpha deems you not welcome, we will obey him."
It is difficult for you to understand the intent of animals. They do seem to genuinely calm down, physically, as their hair goes down and they stop snarling. As a sage, though, you know that beasts with low intellect really don't understand the concept of lying.

After the conversation, the wolves lay back down.
