"I am your host, Von Terrius. The greatest social experiment on the Sword Coast. 16 strangers, split into two tribes of 8. What traits will prove most useful in this cunning game of social politics. The next 39 days, they’ll be abandoned on the Moonshae Isles. They must learn to adapt or they’ll be voted out. In the end, only one will remain to claim the prize and the title of sole survivor."
So, I am a MASSIVE fan of Survivor (a competition based reality show where a group of strangers live on an island, voting players off until only one of them remains) and I have always wanted to run a Survivor type arc in D&D to see how it would go. Everything is planned from advantages to how the tribes will be set up, to how every single challenge will be played. The game will have separate Private Message groups per tribe, and then this Forum Thread will be the main place for posting for challenges, as well as being the main conversation focus post-merge. If you are familiar with Survivor, you will know there will be side-conversations, this can be had through PMs to other players. I don’t mind anyone sharing anything with anyone, I only ask you not PM a player on a different tribe (since you shouldn’t be able to contact them). If anything of interest comes up in PMs, please let me know so I can plan accordingly, otherwise you have complete free reign.
Due to the nature of the game some slight changes will be implemented as explained below. If you are okay with these changes and want to be a part of the cast, DM me with the following information. Due to the amount of players this game needs, if you put in an application, you will most likely be accepted, or worst case scenario asked to retweak something. We will roll for stats with a slight modification, which will be explained in PMs.
Application:
Name:
Race:
Class (Subclass):
Background:
How much Survivor have you Watched?:
You don't have to be a fan to play, just make sure to be aware of the changes and we'll all have a good time)
How do you see yourself playing the game, or how do you want to play the game?:
You don’t need to be overly specific, just a little gist of what to expect
Character Sheet Link:
Place 10's in each ability as a place holder
A full body picture of your character. Or as full body of a picture as possible.
Changes/Clarifications:
Challenges become encounters with initiative rolls if needed. However, initiative is slightly modified so that the game doesn't get put on unnecessary holds. There will be initiative blocks, where multiple people are able to go at the same time.
Exhaustion works differently on the island. There are 8 levels of exhaustion since it will be a big factor in this game. (I will keep track of this)
While you have any points of exhaustion, long rests regain hit points equal to your level x3 (in this case 15), you gain half as many hit die back as you normally would (in this case, 1), and half as many spell slots back as you normally would.
Because comfortability will play a factor into exhaustion, spells/abilities that create any form of shelter become brittle and turn to dust, any food or water does not appear, teleportation does not work greater than 30 ft and cannot shift you between planes.
If food is created by a spell it will not provide any nourishment or affect hunger. For example, goodberry will indeed create berries that can regain hit points, but will do nothing to sustain a full stomach.
Each tribe will be half male/half female. Non-gendered (Warforged) or non-binary characters can fit anywhere. Both tribes will need to be even before starting. Additionally, I would like a good spread of classes and races, therefore will keep a tally of what has already been accepted, so that others can alter based off of that. It would be nice if your profile picture matches your character’s description and picture, but that is not required.
NOTE: Races/Class Features that affect eating/drinking/sleeping and exhaustion will not be in effect. For example, warforged characters will still need food/water and can still suffer exhaustion. This is to keep the balance of the game variant in tact.
Creating Characters - (Before Creating a Character, please refer to the Cast Tally below for diversity. There can beduplicate races and classes, but try to branch out as much as possible)
All official 5e classes and races are okay (including Eberron races).
No homebrew races/subclasses just because I don’t want to add any more variables to this game.
Artificer and Blood Hunter are not allowed.
I have content sharing if you do not have access to other official 5e options. Just make sure to not select any of the homebrew options.
This entire campaign will be played through at level 5 and there will be no leveling up.
Keep in mind, I have done my best to make use of as many skills as possible for challenges and other things. There for, just because you have expertise in Athletics or Survival doesn't necessarily mean you'll have an easier road to the finale than others.
The only items you will be allowed to bring on the island are 3 weapons at most, and one set of armor and a shield if you so desire. Other items will not be allowed when we begin.

Please do you ask to join if you see yourself bailing because you may lose (losing). If you’ve seen the show, you know anything can happen. In the event that a player has to drop out, I will play as their character to the best of my ability to match the description they gave on application.
There are what I call “Day Actions”. During your time on the island, you can spend Day Actions to do various things. Day actions will be openly discussed, but you will PM me specifically with what Day Action(s) you are taking, whether this be what you have said you will do, or not. I will then narrate what happens during each day in a way according to the rolls.
Day Actions:
Get to Know a Tribemate – A Charisma contest to learn information about a tribemate. Most information can be given freely, however, if someone is not forthcoming, or you want to verify, you can use this. Or if there is an NPC tribemate, you can use this.
Search for an Advantage – There is a map, you will select where you want to search. You might have a good roll in a section where there is no advantage, or a bad roll in a section where there is an advantage. Or you just might be lucky enough to find one.
Hunt/Fish/Forage for Food and/or Water – With food being scarce, you may need additional food to keep your exhaustion level from increasing.
Spy on Someone – Select one tribemate to shadow for the day. You learn how they spent their action if you are successful.
Make Fire – You attempt to make fire so your tribe will be more comfortable and help keep your tribe’s exhaustion level from increasing.
Attempt to Make a Fake Idol – You create a fake idol, either to make people believe you have one, or hide it and hope someone else finds it and believes it’s real.
Be Creative – You can literally do anything, just explain what you want to do and we’ll do our best to make it happen.
Please do not post here, PM me for questions. 20 is the maximum number of players for this campaign, however, I HIGHLY doubt we reach that. If we are too low, I will generate NPCs to fill the gap to make the game playable.
Deep in the heart of the Sword Coast, lies one of the most mysterious and isolated isles in the Forgotten Realms—the Moonshae Isles.
A land of steep, volcanic mountains, towering waterfalls, fierce rainstorms, rugged coastlines, virtually untouched by civilization, and surrounded by an ocean that’s home to a diverse marine life.
Here’s where these 16 adventurers are beginning the adventure of a liftetime. Though they’ve not spoken yet, first impressions are surely forming.
16 strangers forced to work together while battling the elements and each other. They must learn to adapt or they’ll be voted out. In the end, only one will remain to claim the 1,000,000 gp prize.
The 16 of you unload from your respective boats onto the sand and stand on a mat that matches the color of your buff (a stretchy cloth in the shape of a tube). You see before you a human man. His hair is slicked back and his voice is smooth. Behind him you see what looks like to be 2 covered podiums and a long 2-lane obstacle course. In the obstacle course you see some logs on the ground and some circles drawn out on the sand. Behind all of this is a lush forest. The sounds of the waves crashing against the shore ring in your ears. The smell of salt water fills the air.
"I am Von Terrius. I will be your host for this season. Welcome to Survivor: Moonshae Isles. You guys have already been divided into two tribes. Wearing blue, you are VELUTHE. Wearing green, you are IKLIDA. You are now going to make your first tribe decision. You are going to elect a leader for your tribe. Out here on the Moonshae Isles, the leaders, or omahs as they’re called here, are held in very high esteem because they’re called upon to protect the interests of their tribe. Whoever you elect is going to do that for your tribe. It’s going to be based on first impressions. A piece of parchment and a quill for each of you."
Von tosses a bag to each tribe.
"Do your best to describe who looks like they could lead your tribe."
Each of you will PM me with your vote. You cannot vote for yourself. Describe who you're voting for however you want, the one with the most votes will be the "leader". You can narrate your characters body language as well as any armor/weapons on your character in the thread for now, but please do not speak until after the vote is revealed. Once the vote is revealed, then all is good and things can be posted as normal!
*Btw, this leader thing is only relevant to this part. After this, the leader has no more control than anyone else*
5ft 8in, and standing in a very intrigued, yet proud pose, an albino tiefling, complete with white skin, hair and horns, plus crimson red eyes, smiles as she sizes up the others around her. Her figure exudes both beauty and knowledge, and her clothing would have many believe her to be some form of entertainer. However the spellbook at her side would tell you otherwise.
With his 8ft he is towering over most (If not all) of his competitors. He only wears a (very small) green cloth to cover his manhood. He stands tall and strong with crossed arms. Looking down his competition. He does not seem to care much for the smaller humanoids among him.
He has a smug on his face, as if nothing can contest him, and his bulging muscles, that covers most of his body.
A fair-skinned gnome makes his way up the beach from his small wooden boat. He stands about 3 and a half feet tall with bushy blonde sideburns and fluffed back hair He is wearing a light green shirt, a dark green dyed leather vest, brown pants and leather boots. He is carrying a set of bagpipes along with a wooden quarterstaff. He has a large smile on his face as he looks around, clearly happy to be in such a beautiful place. The gnome takes his position on the mat and stands ready for what is next. He listens to the man and begins to look around at the others.
There will be no campaign group for this. The reason for this is because information is important in the game. So being able to verify someone else's truths (or lies) would make it all too easy if you had access to everyone's character sheets. So no one will know anything about your character that you do not tell them, this includes race/class/spells/ability scores/skill proficiencies/etc. Everyone will know your name as soon as this voting period is over though.
Standing at the beach is a young human woman with dark hair, hazel eyes, and slightly tanned skin that's dotted with freckles. She's wearing a black shirt that exposes her midriff and a knee-length black skirt. On her feet are a pair of simple sandals. Perched on her shoulder is an owl. She has a pleasant expression on her face as she looks at the other competitors.

Xenophon: Topaz Dragonborn Fighter (ixi's Dragon of Icespire Peak)
A teal bugbear with a nose ring drudges across the beach to his team's area. He eyes his competitors, nodding at anyone who makes eye contact with him. He's wearing gray leather armor with spikes around his shoulders with dual scimitars attached to his back. His fingers twitch with excitement.
Standing alongside his 'tribe' on the blue mat, there is a humanoid male of average-sized build at 5'9" with blonde hair and fair skin. He wears fine clothing that seem to be fitting of a merchant or a businessman in neutral colors along with a studded leather vest as his armor. On his waist is a dagger and dart inside of a holder followed by a small pouch, the most noticeable item though being a grimoire that he is holding. What gives away the fact that he isn't quite human are his piercing green snake-like eyes with patches of green scales around them and on the back of his neck, fangs protruding from his mouth and a forked tongue as well. While listening to Von, he stands with purpose but not too stand off-ish either before soon receiving a parchment and quill. He gazes upon his competition, acknowledging any eye contact made back and seemingly with a casual and neutral expression on his face. But in actuality, he was calculating and judging each one of them based off of first impressions. It was obvious for him to tell who he won't get along with right away, the naked giant with that stupid smug grin on his face, acting as if he is looking down on them all and believing himself to be better than them. Of course the Yuan-ti didn't show it on his face as he was thinking of who should be the leader.
Von walks over and takes the parchment from each of you, having kept your votes secret. He reads for the VELUTHE tribe first. As the votes are read, he asks for the name of those that get votes. You see votes for "pink goblin" who introduces herself as Khan, "yuan-ti fellow" whose name is Seth, "teal bugbear" whose name is Xan, "pretty human lady" whose name is Anastasia, then another vote for the Seth, and another for Anastasia. A vote for "lizard and bats", who introduces her name as Susan. Then a final vote for Anastasia.
"With 3 votes, Anastasia, come on up, you are the leader for VELUTHE."
Von then begins to read the votes for IKLIDA. The votes are read as follows: "Dragonborn - do not let me down", the dragonborn steps forward, introducing himself as Torinn. "Pale Demon Lady", who introduces herself openly as Whisper. "Warforge", whose name is Toxic. Another vote for Toxic is read. "Little man" who introduces himself as Niver. A vote for "the rugged man" referring to the man named Stonetree. He smiles as if he expected to receive votes and win. Another vote for Stonetree. Then the final vote is for Toxic.
"With 3 votes, Toxic, come on up, you are the leader for IKLIDA."
"Anastasia, Toxic. What does it mean to you to be voted as a leader for your tribe, based on first impressions alone?"
If anyone wants to narrate how their character reacts to getting votes, or the lack thereof votes, or even how they introduce themselves, you can do so. Additionally, I can make any changes to this thread to better suit your characters. I did a brief intro for the sake of moving things along, but I do not mind at all making alterations to better fit what you think your character would have done, or even have said their names! :)
Stripes, the shifter who has wolf-like characteristics of fangs and tufts of white fur on the backs of her hands, as well as her ears, breathes a sigh of relief when the leader is announced and it is not her. Her left foot never stops tapping.
She's wearing scalemail and has a longbow and quiver on her back and two all white shortswords, one at each side.

“You know what the issue is with this world? Everyone wants some magical solution to their problem and everyone refuses to believe in magic.”
LeShanna grins with a sweet smile. Even when no votes read her, she continues to smile. Her light robes breeze against her fair skin and single rapier at her side. A nearly translucent book cover reveals pages with elegant cursive writing. When the final vote is revealed, her smile widens with excitement.
Anastasia smiles warmly at the rest of her tribe as it is announced that she has been voted as chieftain. "Thank you all for putting your faith in me as your leader. I will do my best to lead us all to victory. Although I hope that you didn't vote for me just because you think I'm pretty! I'm Anastasia, obviously, and this is my familiar, Stolas."
