Toxic looks surprised... eh... as surprised as a Warforged can look. He wanted to be the leader, but he certainly didn’t expect it! It means these people have good taste. I will be sure to lead them to victory, whatever the challenge!
Toxic is a tall warforged, with nothing but a Cloak on his back, a violin and a few weapons.
Von places a hand on each of your shoulders. "Now Anastasia and Toxic, what you see before you is an obstacle course race. You also see a podium covered by a blanket. Underneath the blanket is a puzzle. You will need to assign one person as the runner and one person as the puzzle solver. Again, only based on first impressions. So, Anastasia, who do you choose for VELUTHE, and Toxic, who do you choose for IKLIDA?"
Again, feel free to narrate how your character would react. If you want to raise your hand, or suggest yourself, or someone else for the roles, you are completely free to do so. You now have 100% control of your characters and anything you want to say or do!
Toxic looks at his fellow teammates. First impressions..... hm. He eyes the spellbook at Whisper’s side and LeShanna’s Rapier. In order to use those efficiently, one must be nimble and smart. Whisper, you're the Puzzler, LeShanna, you’re on the obstacle course.
He glares at Stonetree. And that’s why you aren’t the leader.
Torinn's eyes widen at Toxic's jab at the big man. "Well, this doesn't seem like a good start for tribal unity," he says with a chuckle. If we lose the immunity challenge, it might be team Stonetree vs Team Toxic. Lines are already forming. What a game.
"Alright, Whisper, LeShanna, come on up. You are the solver and runner for IKLIDA. Is this the role you wanted? How confidant are you in this first challenge. If you do well, surely your tribemates will be thankful, however, the same can be said for the opposite."
LeShanna slowly walks forward as her grin turns to a nervous smile. She walks over with Whisper to Von and Toxic. "I'm, uh, honored to be picked. I will definitely give it everything I've got. Hopefully, my magic can help!"
Stonetree laughs at Toxics remark. Spits at the floor. "Prove yourself worthy tinman, and I may carry you to the victory stand!" He looks at his new so called leader with a broad smile. Bumping his fists together. "Or, fail and I'll throw you on the first boat back to Waterdeep myself! Hah!"
Stripes kicks around in the sand softly. Maybe I would've been good at this, maybe not. You can't lose if you don't play, right? So maybe it's good I'm watching. Does look fun though. But could I do it? I don't know. Maybe. Yes? No? Oh jeez. Let's just watch.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
“You know what the issue is with this world? Everyone wants some magical solution to their problem and everyone refuses to believe in magic.”
The pink goblin steps forward sneering. "I would be good for either position, should the pretty lady like to place me in such a space." She looks over to her tribe and gives a very odd smile that shows several chipped or missing teeth. She looks more like a male goblin, but her voice is feminine. She has a longbow on her back and twists an arrow in her hand. She is wearing a black cloak over chain mail armor. Her blue buff is now around her head like a headband.
Whisper smiles, before walking up, "Von, darling, you should know better then to ask a girl to tell you what she's thinking~" She throws a wink in the general direction of her tribe, and stands ready.
"Wow. I'm intrigued.Stonetree, tell me, what about Toxic's first impression has created this sort of interaction?"
Von laughs and nods to Whisper. "Well you better get used to it! I will have plenty of questions throughout the game, but you are free to answer, or not, however you please." He smiles.
"Confident! I like that. Ok, how about you handle the obstacle course. Seth, would you mind solving the puzzle for us? You seem like someone who's clever." Anastasia's interest piques a little bit as she overhears what's going on between Toxin and Stonetree before returning her attention to her team.
Niver watches as Stontetree and Toxic buttheads, not even 10 minutes into this. Niver shakes his head. "Not a good start. Not a good start at all," Niver says to whichever team member is standing nearby, not including Stonetree or Toxic. "I'm surprised I even got a vote to be leader. Never saw myself as one to be honest. I'm really happier if I can do my own thing. And this place. It's wonderful. I just hope those two don't kill each other."
"Alright, Khan and Seth, come on up. You are the runner and solver for VELUTHE. Any thoughts on this? How do you think you stack up against IKLIDA'S runner and solver?"
"Ah, it's all fun and games right?" Stonetree smiles at Von. "A good leader needs some solid motivation. Anyway, ain't going to follow anyone blindly. Got to see what they can do." Looking over at Whisper and LeShanna. "It will be very interesting to see what these two can do though. I fully support his decision, they look like they can handle themselves."
Looking at Toxic with a smug face. "Let's win this!"
So, as most of you know, I wasn't able to get the full number I wanted, so I created NPCs, I am replacing the original tribe picture with this one below. It shows which of the characters are NPCs that are created and will be played by me. I have predetermined, their personalities and play styles, so they should very much act like separate players. But I just wanted all of you to be aware of who is not technically a PC. I rolled a d20 for each of them and that determined where they went on the half who rolled higher tribe (Veluthe) or the low half tribe (Iklida).
Seth watched as the votes were gathered and listened when the votes for his tribe were read first. He was a little surprised at first when he had gotten a vote before giving a small smile. "My name is Seth, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance." he said back in a friendly manner, bowing before hearing the rest of the votes. He smiled a little more as he got another vote, but then was somewhat disappointed when he was short one vote of being the leader, beaten out by the female human with an owl. Knowing the other males on his tribe, they must have voted for Anastasia simply because she is pretty. But he also figured that those who voted for her over him must have done so because they felt like they could trust a human to be their leader over a Yuan-ti like him, knowing that he will need to prove himself and acquire the trust of those around him. Seth is very glad to know that at least two people here think highly of him already, whoever they are. Now he listened to the other tribe's votes, hiding how glad he was that the naked giant, Stonetree was also one vote short of being the leader and got beaten out by someone else, how they deserve it for being so cocky and believing that they would win so easily. He remained calm and collected as Anastasia gave her thanks and speech, relieved as she pointed out that she hoped people didn't vote for her just because of her looks. Whatever happens next regarding the leaders, he hopes that Anatasia is wise enough to make the right decisions for their team. Then he listened as Von told the leaders about the obstacle course race and the puzzle under the blanket on the podium, learning that they will need to assign one person to run the course and another person to solve the puzzle, going only by first impressions. Seth knew that he could probably do the puzzle well, hoping that Anastasia chooses someone good to run the obstacle course. He listened as Toxic and Stonetree are already fighting with each other, resisting the urge to smirk. That tribe is already being split apart, they will surely fail with how they will end up so divided and unable to work together. Then he heard Khan volunteer for either position before Anastasia told her to do the obstacle course and then asked him if he would solve the puzzle for them, believing that he's clever. "Of course I do not mind, I am glad and thankful that you would think of me as clever. I will do my best to solve that puzzle." Seth said back to her, nodding and smiling. He had heard Von, now stepping up and ready to go as the host asked them their thoughts and how they stack up. "I am honored that Anastasia would choose me to solve the puzzle. I believe that we should be able to win." Seth said back with a casual but determined smile, nodding as Khan was encouraging them to win too. He has to solve this puzzle in order to make himself and the tribe look good, especially after being asked to volunteer by their leader.
"Each tribe, waiting for you at your camp is a machete, a pot, a fishing kit, and a small supply of rice. So, without further adieu, let's get on with the first REWARD CHALLENGE of Survivor: Moonshae Isles. For this challenge, runners will race to a log, digging up the sand to burrow underneath it, then will go to a section marked to dig through the sand to find a set of keys. You will do this three times total for three sets of keys. You will then run back to the start where the solvers will untie the knots on the bags to unlock access to the puzzle. The first person to finish their puzzle wins a massive shelter building kit for their tribe, making tonight an easy night for the winning tribe. Additionally, the losing tribe will have their fishing kit at their camp removed, making fishing nearly impossible."
Von looks at Anastasia and Toxic.
"Now, leaders, this is where you come in. Over by the puzzles stands a lever. If pulled, the lever will force all of the puzzle pieces to drop from the bottom of their team's podium, forfeiting the challenge. If the leader of their tribe decides to forfeit the challenge during the puzzle portion, their tribe will get to keep their fishing kit, but the opposing tribe will also get 20 eggs and flint to start fires in addition to their shelter building kit. Remember, you only have a small timeframe once your solver begins to solve your puzzle to pull the lever. Once that time is lapsed, the option to forfeit and keep fishing gear is gone. Do you have faith in your tribe, or do you value insurance over risk? All attacks and magic of the 3 members of each tribe are at your disposal. Let's get started. To your positions."
How challenges will work is I will describe them as Von, then create a spoiler category with how the challenge will actually work. Additionally, all damage is non-lethal.
Initiative: I need Anastasia, Khan, Seth, Toxic, LeShanna, and Whisper to roll initiative.
Running: So the runners have 90ft from each check point. Then can spend their actions to dash or attack or cast a spell. You may not enter the other tribe's lane. Once you have all 3 keys, you will run the complete distance back to hand them to your solver.
Logs: When the runners get to a log, you may make an acrobatics check to dive underneath. Conversely, you may choose to make an athletics check to dig, which is a much easier check, and will also reduce the DC for your acrobatics check needed to get past by 2. You can use magic to make this easier, but you must go under the log (meaning teleporting to the otherside is illegal).
Sand Pit: Once you've cleared the log, you will begin looking for your keys. This will require a sleight of hand check to find the keys. Like the logs, you can attempt a much easier athletics check to reduce the DC of the sleight of hand by 2. Once you've found your keys, you can begin heading to the next log.
Key Bags: Once your runners have given you the key bags, you will make sleight of hand checks to untie the knots. Once you have untied all three bags, you can use the keys to unlock your puzzle. - Bonus Action to unlock puzzle.
Puzzle: Puzzles will be solved in Survivor with Investigation checks. I have my own table that I consult to reference how many pieces are successfully placed due to the investigation roll.
Lever: Leaders, you will have until the 4th round after the solver has begun the puzzle to pull the lever or not. If on the 4th round you are in front of the solver in the initiative order, that is still your last chance to pull the lever. I will be keeping reminders for you as well.
