Seeing A'ro making a break for it, Kestrell steps back to hold the door open and casts Minor Illusion to create the image of a gaping, 5 foot hole suddenly appear in the floor between A'ro and Buck. The sides look like slick rock and the bottom is all black to make it appear even deeper.
Remaining outside the tavern but with a clear view of both A'ro's fleeing form and Buck's menacing approach, Kestrell tosses a ball of fleece over the genasi's shoulder and snaps his fingers... and suddenly a pit appears to open up in the floor directly between A'ro and the angry publican. Eye's bulging in suprise, the approaching barman pulls back at the last second, cursing loudly, "Argh! Seems Brannin was right and we do have magic using trouble makers in town. PA! Bring... Bessie!"
Even as Buck hesitates before the seeming pit and calls back for his father, a tall, skinny black haired man with a hooked nose and shortsword in hand barrels into the room, casting about for his fleeing prey. Catchinig sight of A'ro's fleeing form, the snarling man whips out a dagger with his free hand and throws it over the shoulder of a patron who dives to the ground with a shout of fear. As the dagger glints, spinning across the room, two leather clad figures wielding shortswords of their own appear through the smoke to rush past the hook nosed man in pursuit of the fleeing genasi.
At the same time, the huge ale stained form of Barney Barney reappears behind the bar, having returned from a back room with what looks like either an oversized heavy crossbow or a slightly down-scaled ballista in his massive meaty paws. With a narrowed gaze that promises dire retribution, the hulking tavern tavern owner takes in the scene before him, the head of the weapon and the nasty looking barb-tipped bolt that protrudes from it swinging back-and-forth to track the multiple potential targets who are involved in the unfolding disturbance. Finally, Barney Barney growls in bear-like voice, "Right then. I'll 'ave... YOU!"

Vaken casts Shillelagh on his staff and runs up to the side of the door ready's an action to attack whichever enemy comes into range first.
As Vaken runs up and takes position on the left side of the door with his shillelagh at the ready, the goliath notices Kestrell standing in front of the doorway looking into the taproom and hears thuds, shouting and furniture moving from within. A moment later, the druid hears two further sounds - A'ro's voice crying out in pain and the *shattering* of glass as something long and fast-moving explodes outwards through the window just behind Vaken's position to sail out into the night beyond. Broken glass spatters across the goliath's form and the street around him and he feels the too-close disturbance of whatever the large missile was, but Vaken takes no damage.
[OOC] A'ro was hit by Ned's thrown dagger and takes 3 piercing damage. Starting RND2: A'ro's up first, then so on.

Grunting in pain as the spinning dagger slashes him across the shoulder blades, A'ro turns to see Ned grinning evily at him from across the room even as Shawn and Bailey close in with weapons drawn. The genasi just smiles and mutters "One-for-three"and reaches out to send three bolts of searing magical light flashing unerringly towards the dark-haired thug. Even as the bolts slam into A'ro's attacker and Ned's shouts of pain ring out, another gust of wind swirls around the sorcerer lifting him beyond the reaching arms and striking blades of the chasing thugs, carrying him through the tavern door and out into the relative safety of the street beyond where he sees his companions gathered and ready to assist him.
The fatigued and wounded genasi slumps against the wall next to Dekket and says to the three men, "Well... that could have gone better!"
[OOC] Dekket is up next. A'ro cast magic missile and did 14 force damage to Ned, then used tempestuous magic to drift beyond Shawn's potential AoO before using a little movement to get beside Dekket.

At the Kestrell's shout, the four of you bolt away from the front of the Bronze Crate Southwards down the docks and back in the direction of The Shore Shark. Sounds of commotion can be heard behind you from within the tavern but as you all sprint away, the sounds quickly fade into the ambient night time sounds of Rumbottom. Against the backdrop of wind, crashing waves and various sounds made by sailors enjoying a night in port, the four of you hear a loud whistle echo up the street and a stern woman's voice shout, "Well where's this lot going in such a hurry then? I'll have ya stop right there if'n ya please... and don't be reaching for any weapons if ya know what's good fer ya!"
A small group of five clearly armed Wardens rounds a building's edge about forty feet ahead of you up the docks. The two at the back sport heavy crossbows while the next two have lanterns hooked to their pikes. The speaker advances to stand out front with longsword and shield in hand. You see the burly woman's swarthy skin and mohawke and easily recognise her as Sharn, one of the Wardens you encountered in the Prancing Pirate the night you all signed on with the Shark.

Seeing the wardens, Vaken quickly ducks down an alley and casts wild shape turning himself into a cat. Cat Vaken then finds a perch where he can observe the conversation between his shipmates and the wardens.
A'ro just grabs his shoulder running towards the woman, stopping right before he gets to her "Thank the gods you're here - I found a lead on the individuals stealing ships store and followed it. When I got close enough to their operation..." A'ro just grunts a little in pain "Well they decided to retaliate and try to silence me. - I'll tell you everything when we can ensure safety."

When I got close enough to their operation..." A'ro just grunts a little in pain "Well they decided to retaliate and try to silence me. - I'll tell you everything when we can ensure safety."
The group of Wardens initially seem prepared for the worst as they surround your trio, but as A'ro explains the situation broadshouldered Sharn begins to nod and motions for the rest of her patrol to lower their weapons, saying, "Aye, we'd knew that there were some shifty types hanging around town, well, shiftier than usual that is, and after that stabbing incident this morning, Golm had a few people keeping a watch on the Crate. It's why we were so quick to come running once word reached us of another fight. We had no idea that they were mixed up in stealing ships' stores though, and it sounds like there might be dyed-in-wool murderers as well as thieves and ruffians staying at that roach pit. There'll be hell to pay for it, but we'd better head back to the tavern now to sort this mess out. Raro, you go get the Cove Warden and maybe a few more of the lads... just to be on the safe side."
"Yes, Sharn, was it? I'm glad you all found us. We've been assaulted, but we should be safe here with you."
Turning to Kestrell as one of her men run off South and the rest begin moving back North towards the crate, the mohawked sergeant smiles warmly as she sheaths her longsword, even slapping the navigator on the shoulder as the group heads back to the Crate, saying,
"Don't worry that pretty head of yours. You'll be safe enough with us. And once Golm sees the proof of your claims... well, I wouldn't give a bent copper for the chances of these thieving blademen that assaulted you."
With brief glances at the cloaked and as yet silent form of Dekket, Sharn and the other three wardens move back up the wharf towards the Crate, clearly expecting you three to follow.
[OOC] Anyone doing anything else except accompanying the patrol back to the Crate? @Gambit - by the time Vaken takes cat form and returns to the alley's mouth, his sharp nocturnal vision vision would easily spy the group beginning to move North back up the Wharf.

Dekket tries to keep himself in a second place and follows the group. He tries to position himself at the back of the group so he has a better chance to sneak away if needed.
The four wardens escort the three of your party back to the front door of the Crate, even as a tiny feline follows behind unseen. Broken glass is being swept up out the front of the tavern by one of the owner's large raw-featured sons (Earl), but otherwise the place seems to be carrying on as though the near lethal encounter of only minutes before did not occur. A trickle of drunken revelers trickles in and out of the seedy establishment as the grumbling barman glowers at the groups approach,
"Ehh? You come back to cause more trouble?!? Why you little..."
The ill-mannered man's tirade trails off at a curt motion from the half-orc sergeant, who demands in a no-nonsense tone as she and her fellow guards create a semi-circle around the drinking hole's entrace,'
"That's enough of that. The men who attacked this lot - where are they? You'll go and bring them out now, and you'll make sure that they're unarmed and compliant... or there will be worse trouble yet!"
The barman grunts and spits on the ground, doing little to hide his distaste for the town guard, but merely mutters as he leans on the broom glaring at your group... and A'ro in particular,
"Ehh? Well, I MIGHT do that for you... if the ones you're after were still around. Unfortunately, I ain't seen a one of them since the ruckus that THIS lot caused."
Sharn studies the barman coldly for a moment, before glancing at the three of you in apparent indecision.
