As she told her story A'ro just remained straight face 'well shit I didn't expect it to be that bad of a story, poor girl' was all he could think to himself as he felt bad for messing with her. He just let out a sigh "Sorry to hear that - that's not right how they treated you. **** 'em though, you're among good company now."
He just took a swig and smiled at her a little"I'm blue because I'm an air genasi, I'm a dark shade of blue because I spend most of my time in the sun. I can however hold my breath for a very long time if I wanted, the benefits of having ancestors of the plane of air. It also does come from my mothers side and she did use to say that to me, before I fully understood what being a dual natured being was." He just smiled as he reached out to touch her tattoo "I do like your tattoo though, adds a uniqueness that has a beauty behind it."
She forces a faint smile and takes a big swig from her glass, vacantly staring off into the distance. instinctively she pulls away when A'ro reaches out towards her face"s..sorry" she snaps out of it and has another big swig of her rum"Hey. so you owe me a dance, so let's get so drunk and then dance."with that she finishes her glass of rum, choking and sputtering after she downs it
A'ro just nods pulling his hand back as she pulls away"Perfectly fine - we all have things we don't like people getting near."
He just smiled as he continued to sip his flagon "Careful - get to drunk to fast and you won't be able to move. I won't forget that I owe you a dance. So what brings you to this town?"
still coughing a bit Unawalyn nods"Yea I should probably slow down." she chuckles the rum pushing her back into a drunken mess "As for why i'm here I heard there was free piss from a hiring captain." She shrugs and smiles then squints "what about you? do you just come around here to pick up traumatized shitfaced girls?"
A'ro just laughed "I would recommend it, but hey don't let me stop your fun." He figured as much, there was only one reason to come to this town.
As she began to question his motives, he couldn't help but chuckle a little raising his hands "To be fair you approached me, well I was having a drink. So do you always just try to pick up the first blue skinned person you see?" He just gave her smirk as he continued on "I've worked on the sea all my life, so I come here to get hired when I've run my course with a ship. Also, if your looking for a captain to hire you I wouldn't tell them you want free piss...they might actually give you piss."He just took a moment to take a swig "What kind of sailing experience do you have?"
She points at him and nods"that's a fair point and i respect that And i do not always try to pick up blue people... Sometimes I just succeed." she chuckles and giggles" I have lived on the sea all my life. whether it was with shitty relatives or working on ships as a lookout. you know sleeping in the crows nest. that kind of stuff."She smiles "It just feels right to be out there. You know?" she blinksheavily "Yea i think I'm gonna slow down with the drinking. after all i need to make a good impression to the captain right?" Unawalyn Just starts giggling uncontrollably
He just chuckled looking at her "Should I take that to mean, you've succeeded in your quota for tonight." He couldn't disagree with how she described life at sea, it was exactly as he felt "Yeah I do know what you mean - there's just a freedom about being on the water and getting to see new lands and skies that an average life just can't give someone."
Her giggling was contagious, he could help but give a small chuckle every time he heard it "Just depends what Captain your trying to impress and how they select their crew."
'A young women sits quietly in a shadowy corner of the inn's common room, watching the early evening unfold inside the ever-noisier Prancy Pirate. She doesn't interact with the jostling throng inside the bar, doesn't make any effort to speak to anyone around her. Not yet. For now, she just watches.
She shes the self-assured tall blue-eyed man flirting with the barmaids and then join an apparent old friend for drinks and laughs about old times.
She sees the tipsy tatooed woman with the arm wraps speaking with the exotic blue skinned man with the white hair. She notices the woman remove her arm wraps to show the man what lies beneath, though the watcher cannot see what it is that is revealed from where she sits.
She sees and hears the tough looking woman standing at the table in the centre of the room compliment the large bald-headed cook, who accepts the praise with a wide smile as he reaches out to snatch a spinning gold piece from the air.

After a couple of hours of watching various sailors approach the table to sign up with the new crew, she sees the young captain stand and raise his hands above his head and with a voice barely audible above the din say,'
"Ahh, if I could have your attention please... ahh, yes, please quiet down and, yes, ahh, look this way, please..."
'Seeing her captain making no headway with the boisterous crowd, the woman in the green bandana shouts in a window rattling blast that quietens the crowd in good order,'
"BELT UP YOU RUM-SOAKED DECK RUGS! This man's paying for yer drinks, and will be payin' many of yer wages for the weeks and months to come, so shut ye blow holes for a moment and LISTEN!"

"I'm Captain Aundrey and I'll be sailing the Shore Shark out of Rumbottom Harbour in a few days to run a patrol out to the Knuckle Islands and then down to Selkies Head, before returning to Rumbottom. I'll have two experienced officers here at my side and a crew of men and women who have bravely signed up tonight to take the fight to any pirate or brigand scum that we encounter. The Shark's a good vessel and I have the makings of a good crew... but I've coin still to spend for people with the right skills.
To be precise, I need more officers and crew with particular and reliable expertise. Currently, my crew is short a navigator, a master of sails, a weapons master, a carpenter, a surgeon and a quarter master. Oh, yes, and a ship's mage... if anyone should have the right spells and temperment for the job!"

When the woman begins to speak A'ro goes silent and listen as the man makes his proposal, he gives a quick glance to Unawalyn"Well if you're looking for a job here's your chance."
He stood up from his chair and raised his flagon out of respect as he looked at the Captain"If y'er in need of a Master of Sails or a Ship Mage, I can do both if needed. My ancestry has blessed me with a connection to the air and I'm able to control winds when none exist. This has led me to spend a lot of time around the sails of a ship. 'All three officers turn to study the confident Aro Gale as he stands and proclaims his application for two vacant officer roles.
The Captain and Bosun seem to like what they see and hear, both nodding their heads and conferring quietly together, though the First Mate seems distracted... until a big raw boned man with blunt features and fists the size of anvils steps forward from the large group who have been drinking at the bar, declaring in a strong steady voice,'
"I don't know nothing about no mage business... but I know sails and I know masts. I'm a local, know these waters well, AND I've sailed on a Caravel before, one bigger than the Shark to boot. Name's Gaut and I reckon you'd be better off hiring me over some scrawny blue skinned runt!"
'The three officers look from this Gaut character to A'ro, then back again, seemingly undecided. You see the Captain grimace when Gaut refers to A'ro's skin colour, though the Bosun seems to nod at Gaut's points about being a local and having sailed on a caravel before.
Ignoring a pointed look from the dwarf seated to his left, the Captain glances around, as though expecting someone else to step forward for one of these roles, then clears his throat and says,'
"Those are fair points that you make, Gaut, and I do not doubt your knowledge of sail and mast, but can you summon air to propel a becalmed vessel? Hmm, a demonstration perhaps, good A'ro."

'Kay, sitting silently and observing the goings on, is about to stand and approach the table to make her case when the captain stands to make his announcement. Not usually one for spectacle, Kay takes her seat nervously. She watches with rapt interest as the burly man and the blue skinned man test each other, though she watches the captain and his officers all the more carefully to gauge their temperament. She goes to take another sip of her mull, and frowns a little when she finds her mug empty, but quickly returns to watching the contest of will.'
The air still had a chill to it, not the kind to keep you inside but just enough to let you know that winter wasn’t too far in the past. It was a good day, Virtoris loved Rumbottom. He came here a handful of times with his father these past few years and loved the way there was alaways new faces with new stories to tell. He stood out above most citizens, but being a tall, bald and blue creature with no known homeland would do that for a person.
He walked through the paths in this small port village and made his way to the old PP. He snickered at the thought of his father scolding him for attempting to be vulgar. It was who he was though, he was clever and like to use his brain to make others smile. Including himself.
He pulled out his father’s handwritten note, written in the elegant and wild gnomish script.
“Look for Captain Aundrey Farseeker of the Shore Shark. He’ll be in the PRANCING PIRATE. Tell him what happened, let him know your skills. And don’t forget to wash behind your ears, boy. You would think you were raised by yeti during mating season. Until we meet again, my giant blue sky.
-Your father ,
Gligo Goldentongs”
He put the note away after memorizing his fathers words. The last part made him well up with pride, his giant blue sky. That’s what father called him, said he was so large and amazing he blotted out the stars like a clear blue sky in the daytime. Gnomes sometimes we’re problematic, but they made for some of the best family members. Even for their adopted children.
Walkimg into the PP, he saw the line and waited patiently in it. Knowing he was thirsty but wanted to meet the Captain first before setting his whistle with some rum. He knew better to ask for anything but in this establishment.
As the line crawled forward he looked around the room, and surprisingly he saw someone who had the same color of skin as he. Blue skin! The line moved but he kept looking back at the creature, could he be one of his kind? The line finally crept forward and he saw the person who he thought was the Captain of the Shore Shark. Just one more to go, then maybe he would get a berth on a ship and fight off the pirates who have tried to take so much from him and his family.
They were the lucky ones, they got their loved ones back...

'A'ro notices all three of the ship's officers smile or nod at his words about respect, while the First Mate and Bosun seem most pleased with the his revelations about his extensive past sailing experience.
As the genasi steps forward with flashing eyes and the wind begins to pick up, seemingly localised on Gaut and A'ro himself, mutters spread through the room from those assembled. As A'ro drifts off the floor and raises a hand towards Gaut, you see the larger man throw a hand out to grasp the nearest table... just as his body begins to be pulled from the ground. However, using his handhold upon the table and finally grabbing the back of an occupied chair with his other hand, the aspiring Master of Sails manages to keep his feet, though all the bluster seems to have left the wide-eyed man who nods by way of apology before stepping back to steady himself with a drink handed to him by one of his six drinking buddies.
Captain Aundrey's eyes went wide at the display and seeing A'ro still drifting above the floor, he says with conviction to his two aides.'
"That settles it then... we have our new Master of Sails. That is simply AMAZING what you can do, and I'm sure that it'll prove immensely useful to our ship and my... err, our efforts in hunting down villainous pirates!"
'First mate E'strue nods along with the Captain and invites A'ro forward to sign the Shore Shark's charter, informing the genasi that non-commanding officers recieve double wages of 4pg p/day, or 120gp p/month, to be paid in full at the end of each month or installments upon making land after a voyage, as discussed and agreed upon with the Bosun and First Mate.
The Bosun Drannick stands watching A'ro with still-wide eyes, muttering something under his breath as he takes another pull from his silver mug.'

'The captain nods appreciativey to his first mate, clears his throat and speaks up once again,'

When the woman begins to speak A'ro goes silent and listen as the man makes his proposal, he gives a quick glance to Unawalyn "Well if you're looking for a job here's your chance."
He stood up from his chair and raised his flagon out of respect as he looked at the Captain "If y'er in need of a Master of Sails or a Ship Mage, I can do both if needed. My ancestry has blessed me with a connection to the air and I'm able to control winds when none exist. This has led me to spend a lot of time around the sails of a ship. Additionally, I've been sailing since I was a wee lad Cap'in. If you'll have me on y'er crew, I'll gladly work for ya' in either position or both, the name is A'ro Gale." He just waited for a response from the man. (Persuasion 6)

A'ro smiled stepping forward "Mr. Gaut f it's experience we are talking about I've been on these waters since I was 9 and am a local of this area as well. However, being a local doesn't mean shite to the very sea itself. Additionally, although I may not have sailed on a caravel before, I have sailed on a brig, barque, bilander, carrack, clipper, covette, dhow and in one funny situation a cog."
When the man referred to his skin color, his eyes darkened for a second and his voice deepened like booming thunder "Respect is how a crew comes together and functions, if you can't respect a stranger - how is the Captin' going to be able to trust you'll respect any of his crew that might be of a different color, race, or culture." He began to step forward towards the man as the captain requested a demonstration "Always glad to respect my Captains wishes, Sir. This is what I can do without expending any of my given magical talents."
'I'll try this - worst case scenario it just makes a lot of wind. Best case scenario, this ******* goes flying' was all A'ro could think before he began his demonstration.
His violet eyes began to crackle with what looked like lightning as his elemental nature began to expose itself, with each step he was lifted slowly of the ground, by what could only be described an amazing feat of control. His hand began to make seamless motions as if he had practiced this particular spell over and over. From his lips slipped words that spoke to the primordial nature of the wind and air itself. Those in a 60ft radius around Gaut would begin to feel heavy gusts drawing themselves into a circle around Gaut himself, as A'ro cast levitate on the ignorant man trying to lift him into the air 15 feet.

'Kestrell continues talking with Nubrel':
"I don't think Captain Thomas short-changed your purse! He wouldn't do that....would he? And Orryn was a pretty good navigator, remember when we had to sail out of the way of that giant storm, and couldn't see the stars for five days to fix our location? He taught me a thing or two about estimating position when no stars are visible, I'll tell you."
"So, you are joining up with the Shore Shark, huh? That sounds mighty fine. It's not a merchant vessel though, or so I hear. That might be an interesting change of pace, regardless. I'll go have talk to the good Captain and see if they need a naviga..."
'Kestrell pauses midstream as the dwarven lady calls for their attention and listens intently as the captain speaks, then stares with quiet amusement as the wind starts to blow in the tavern.': "Hold on to your hats, mates!"
“If its a skilled mage that ye be wanting, one with experience on these shore and dealing with the skulldogs who call themselves true sailors,” Virt spat on the ground, calling those monsters anything but made him angry, “Well, than he might want someone with me talents. I come from a family of tinkerers and artificers, not only will you have my skilled magic but I can assure ye...ye won’t to find a better mind. The Shore Shark will becomes not just a vessel to hunt down these bastards, no, it will become legend itself as a pirate eating monster of the North Track Sea. That’s me word to ye.”
More long winded than Virtoris would like, but the Captain had to know. Out of this lot here, there was no other choice.
“I’ve met a pirate recently, they captured me father and left him with others in a grotto. We found him and took this lad prisoner. Things will get worse, ‘tis be true. Unless us good folk step up. Pick me, Captain. I won’t let ye down.”

'Having just watched the genasi Aro's commission-winning display against Gaut, the Captain and his two senior officers turn at the words of this equally unusual looking character, tall and lean, with dark blue skin and a bald head. Captain The First mate nods approvingly at Virtoris's declaration about using skill and magic to hunt down pirates, while Captain Aundrey smiles at the applicants confident words about good folk becoming legendary pirate hunters to stop the pirate scourge. The dwarven Bosun seems pleased initially, but then makes a sign and spits on the ground when he hears the word tinker.'
The young Captain looks around the room for other possible candidates for the role of Ship's Mage, but looks pleased to see none and waves Virtoris forward to take the offered quill from E'strue. As the artificer steps up before him, the Captain whispers so that only the four of those at the table can hear,'
"I say you have the right of it, my good man. All that evil needs to triumph is the innaction of good folk... that's what my father always says! Welcome aboard the crew of the Shore Shark, Master Mage! Err, what was your name again? I didn't catch it when you first spoke up."
'The Dwarf besides the Captain mutters something audibly under his breath about "cursed tinkerers", giving the Captain and First Mate a glowering stare.'

'Nubrel, quite obviously deep in his cups by now, which as the bard knows is quite in keeping with the man's behaviour both on-and-off ship, listens to what Kestrell has to say, but then waves his hand drukenly and with slurred words says,'
"Nah, nahhhh, Kes. You was the one who kept us on track, most of the boys on ship said so. Ev'one knows *HICCUP* that gnomes are BAD luck 'board ship! 'Kestrell sees Nubrel wave loosely indicating two of the large human men beside you both that he's been drinking with.. and including in the gesture, as the sudden gusts of wind in the common room die down, the now red faced and fuming Gaut who returns to the bar, slamming a fist down on it, muttering darkly about 'foreign devils'. The other large men all commiserate, casting dark glances the genasi's way. One of them, an especially foul-tempered fellow with an achor tatoo beside his left eye, who has been cursing gratuitously the whole time Kestrell's been standing there, drains his tankard and says,'
"Too ****in' right, Gaut. That genie bastard thinks he can come in and take a good job from an honest HUMAN son of the Shore? And that shit-smear Dwarf sitting there like he's somethin' ****in' special - I'M the one should be ****in' Bosun of this here crew, since I'd at least 'ave the guts to tell that green-as-piss Cap'n there and his dear ole sweet First Mammy what's-****in'-what!
'The rise in tension at the bar is palpable. Kestrell notices the largest of the six men, the one who claimed to have killed an ankheg single handedly, cracks his knuckles and looks over at A'ro as the genasi returns to a table occupied by a tall tatooed woman with elbow-length handwraps and extremely baggy pants.'
