A'ro sighs at the yelp from his companion and then the flash of flame as the web ignited "Things are going to be difficult from here." he says as he raises his quarterstaff trying to perceive any threats coming their way.
'A'ro is staring into the jumping shadows at the perhipheral of Kestrell's slightly swaying lantern light and is one of the first to notice the two hound sized arachnid feyspiders emerge fully into sight. Crawling within the shadows of the lantern's somewhat-suppressed illumination, the lean grey/blue chitin-covered forms half scuttle, half slink, along the cavern floor, raising elongated mishapen heads each with six glacier blue eyes. Mandibles like curved dagger blades scissor back-and-forth hungrily, secreting an almost luminous fluid that quickly turns to ice upon hitting the cold hard cavern floor. Apart from the spine-tingling *clack, clack-clack, clack-clack-clack* of their hooked legs approaching, a strange *whispering* sound drifts forward with the insectile creatures, like the voices of a hundred .malicious gossips, muttering at a volume and distance to great to clearly discern.'
[OOC] All of the PCs can see 2 Feyspiders (medium sized, spider-like creatures) which are twenty-five feet from both Kestrell and Vaken. Virt and Kestrell can only just make out Feyspider1 (half cover: +2 AC and dex saves) around the protruding mass of webbing that Kestrell is attacking (FYI - Kestrell is still holding the lantern currently), while I will say that Kay can just make out Feyspider2 (half cover:+2 AC and dex saves) around the edge of the cavern wall.

'As Kestrell and Vaken both move forward grim-faced to take on the encroaching spider creatures, Kay sheaths one of her [Tooltip Not Found], Kay pads forward on light feet, low to the ground, lines up her throw and releases with unwavering precision. The blade spins glittering in the lantern light, before it buries itself in the face of one of the monsters with a *thud*. The creature spasms wildly for a moment, the tempo of its eight clawed legs on the ground increasing to a *clackclackclackclackclackclack...*, but the only other sound made is an increase in the maddening whispers that seem to follow the creatures, before its eyes fix directly upon Kay... just as the navigator and ships cook move between the creature and its revenge.'
[OOC] Abunny's said that Kay's hanging back, so I'll assume that that she will move to within 20 feet and throw a dagger (poor crossbowless waif that she is) for her attack if needed rather than let her turn pass and rush to the front.
She would obviously attack the one she has a clear LoS against (Feyspider 1), Attack: Attack: 22 Damage: 4 + 2 sneak attack damage.

'Both spider creatures pause ever-so-briefly at the rapier wielding Kestrell's approach, though even as the bard verbalises the words of his spell, the two creatures come on hungrily side-by-side, legs *clacking* on the cold stone floor, venom dripping mandibles knifeing back-and-forth.
Suddenly, the wounded creature with Kay's dagger hilt protruding from it's chitinous head begins to glow with a fae green-blue light that illuminates it and the immediately surround area despite the clinging shadows of the chamber. Vaken steps forward and with a mighty 2 handed swing, hits the glowing spider.
attack: 17 bludgeoning: 4 cold damage: 4 con save from cold: 16
'The creature's chitinous armour *cracks* under the mighty two-handed strike, ichor running freely from the blow, though the creature shrugs off the damage enough to scamper forward in an attempt to bite Vaken, even as the other injured, now glowing, spider does likewise with Kestrell... even as a third feyspider bursts from the webbing overhead near where the first cavern meets the chamber beyond. With an otherwise silent leap, the creature lands with a loud *CLACK* between Vaken and Kay, thrusting its hungering maw towards the sail monkey.
The first feyspider's fangs sink into the out-thrown hand of Kestrell, tearing flesh and injecting venom into the bard's body. Momentarily overcome with dizziness, Kestrell shakes his head and blinks furiously to clear his mind, which for a split second itself seems to be acrawl with tiny arachnids. The navigator, while wounded and affected by the venom, manages to block out the mind-affecting *whispers* and any more insidious effects of the feyspider's venom.
Scuttling towards the large cooks legs, the feyspider that Vaken had just bashed in the head with his magically enfused staff gashes open his leg, though the sheer size of the man's trunk like legs and the hardened leather of his armour seem to prevent severe damage. Releasing its insufficient grasp of the goliath's leg, the injured feyspider slinks back half-a-foot, before coming forward again, it's venom dripping fangs coming in higher this time towards the goliath's stomach.
Kay, having revealed herself in her attack, is unprepared for the ferocity of the last alien spider's attack, its mandibles closing around the sail monkey's ankle, ripping skin and flesh almost to the bone, but failing to inject its venom as the fast acting young rogue tears the wound further by hastily pulling her leg from the creature's maw.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Seeing the battle unfold before him, Virtoris is shocked by A'ro's power. And impressed. He had no time to stop and think about it, but he would question him later about his awesome powers. He eyes up feyspider ((OOG #2)) and swings his hammer wide, and brings it down as his opposite hand has a finger outstretched. A blaze of light shoots forth and goes towards the weird insect.
7 and if it hits it will do 4FIRE damage.
Disappointed, he can see his shot not make his mark and he is slightly embarrassed.

Sparing just enough of his attention to be sure, Vaken catches sight of definite movement within the thick grey shroud, as though something within were trying to... Turning back to face his adversary as it moves to the side as though to attack his flank, the ships cook calls out,'
"The webs! Back there, near you, Kay. Something trying to... escape!"
'At Vaken's shouts, you are all able to confirm that the mass of webbing is indeed moving of its own accord, though not violently or as though whatever is within is having a great deal of success breaking free.'

'Bravely turning away from the feyspider menacing her, Kay's blades lash out, hacking and hewing sections of brittle, almost metalic cold webbing from the large mass before her. One of the small rogue's blades has little success, chipping away only small flecks of webbing, but the weapon in her main hand carves large swaths through the entangling cocoon... and finally frees the large rust-brown furred huminoid with a thick hide but no armour that was entrapped within the shroud-like webbing. The creature's flesh is pale and sallow, as though drained of fluids, while its hide and fur is matted and criss-crossed with bloody lines, likely from the cold wire-sharp webbing that recently surrounded and pressed against it. Tattered cloth, metal-mesh and leather clothing, held together by rusted chain and leather straps, all much patched and haphazard in assembly, adorns the barely conscious creature's body. A heavy v-shaped brow, bat-like ears, sharp-protruding tusks and lop-sided beard give the creature... no, the man... a rakish and brutal appearance. As he stumbles eyes fluttering and breath heaving from the remains of the webbing, a large maul falls to the stone with a *CLUNK*, and the man himself barely catches himself to keep from falling.'

SF2 is injured. SF3 is not. Kestrell is currently poisoned

'Thinking that Vaken is suggesting that whatever's trapped in the webbing might aid them in the battle, Kay slashes with both short swords at the mass of webbing surrounding the struggling figure.'
"Uh... right! I'll get them out!"
'Still hobbling from her wound, Kay's attacks are frantic and head turns as her eyes flick back and forth between the web entrapped figure, and the spider still crawling toward her.'

[OOC] Kay successfully destroyed the webbing that held Orlys in place. Orlys is no longer restrained and blinded. With an initiative of 18, Orlys is next in the initiative order. Orlys has 1HP and one level of exhaustion.

'Kay, looks at the beast of a man she has just freed from the webbing with shock, but then remembers that there's still a spider trying to bite off her leg. She shouts nervously,' "Hail f...friend! Give a girl a hand?" 'She points a blade a the spider skittering toward them.'

The Bugbear
The large (7'2" and wide) but clearly exhausted bugbear blinks in the wavering darkness a moment, seeming to barely be able to focus. But instinct takes over, and he sweeps up the enormous maul from the ground, and with a shattering roar of frustration, anger, and pent up fear brings the thing down (hopefully) on the fey spider-creature in front of him.
OOC > He will Rage, and then attack feyspider3
Maul to the carapace (+2 dmg for Rage)! 5 to hit, for 7 bludgeoning damage
ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he).
Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. Here's my D&D stuff. I love it so.

'Kestrell turns to see what came out of the web.'
"A bugbear! Fantastic!"
'At the sight of the bugbear attacking the spider, Kestrell gets excited.'
"I knew it would help us!"
'Kestrell then uses Vicious Mockery against the fey spider in front of Kay.'
"Hey spider! You better use those eight legs to run away! It is not your day!"
[OOC]Wisdom saving throw of 14 or it takes 2 psychic damage and has disadvantage on its next attack.
Vaken takes another 2 handed swing at the large spider. "Bite me will you? Arg!!"

DM - Waterdeep Dragon Heist PbP
'Still disorientated and drained despite being freed, the furred warrior's enraged blow *SLAMS* down... three feet from its arachnid target, but almost upon the left foot of the young human woman who just liberated him. However, the ferocious, if wayward, attack seems to draw the focus of the feyspider which turns away from Kay as it moves forward to finish the injured and exhausted bugbear.'
[OOC] Kay and Orlys can make perception checks with a DC of 15 to be able to read the below spoiler - Orlys with disadvantage due to exhaustion:
'The feyspider seemed intent on finishing its meal of young rogue... until the heavy impact of the bugbear's maul sent slight but detectable reverberations through the chamber floor. The vibrations seemed to coincide with the creature's focusing of its hostile intentions upon the goblinoid.'
[OOG] The developers really should link as tenses of the conditions to the tool tabs, e.g. exhausted, exhausting, not just the base noun. Might log a suggestion.

'No sooner has the feyspider shifted its malevolent attentions towards the disheveled and desiccated bugbear, than it appears to hear Kestrell's enchanted jibe, the arcane magic of the bards words forcing the creature to split its already divided attentions even further and seeming to cause it some actual pain as its luminous blue eyes try to fix upon a single target despite the almost constant and involuntary swivelling of the monstrous spider's bulbous head.'
[OOC] Feyspider wisdom save vs Kesterll's vicious mockery spell: 14 fail - feyspider 3 takes 2 psychic damage and has disadvantage on its next attack.
