Lorahzt was just trying to keep her face blank. She wasn't any sort of inquisitor, and she had only the faintest idea of how she was supposed to aid in that sort of investigation. For that very reason she didn't speak up when the... dragonborn? When did we have a dragonborn with us? When the cloaked dragonborn who called himself Vik made his bid for Archon Tunon's honor. Like the other large half-orc in the room, Lorahzt didn't think she'd accomplish much in that role, so she went ahead and gave him a silent thumbs up. They had to earn the trust of both Archons in the field, all the while investigating both for evidence of treason... and she build and destroyed fortifications for a living. I hope the hazard pay is good... she thought glumly. She was a soldier, and while she'd never done anything like this before, she had still done her fair share of jobs she'd wanted more than anything to avoid. Building mantlets for a siege while under fire from the defenders, undermining fortifications, actually fighting on the open battlefield, these were all dangerous things that she'd been ordered to do in her career, and she had done them all. This was no different, she told herself.
Vik is pleased no one else spoke up. He did not fully trust them yet. They seemed capable, but this investigation would require more finesse then brute force.
"You said Nezarat is in command of the Crimson Guard at the Tiers. Who is in command of the Disfavored currently?"
Drake walks in and with the others gives the slight bow. He is amused at Vik's transformation and stands with confidence as Vik steps forward to claim the hand.
Once Vik is finished speaking Drake steps forward a few steps and addresses the leader. "Master Tunon, a choice will be put before you and I trust you will choose well. You may not want a shape changer as your hand, and one of obvious mystery no less. I have lead your units in the past with great skill and offer you another choice. We will not fail you in bringing about he information and ultimate changes you desire. I will honor your judgment and follow whomever you chose."
Drake makes another very confident bow and steps back again.
Vik looks Drake up and down as he speaks. He growls a little at the "shape changer" remark.
He seems to have a way with words. He did not seem as direct as the rest of them.
Vik laughs a little. "I will leave the decision to you, Archon Tunon. He seems like he would be a fine choice as well. In fact, he might be a better choice. I tend to work better in the shadows." Vik ends with a smirk.
"Drake, in the future you will do well respect your peers. The changelings have long served Ulthan and shall be treated with the respect due to them. But, in light of Vik's approval of you, as well as his abilities of subterfuge may prove more useful if he was not displayed as my servant. Very well then, I shall charge you, Drake, with carrying out Ulthan's justice in the Tiers. Be His fire and burn away the traitors and rebels against his rule. If there is anything else you wish to know let it be known now, otherwise the halfling will set you on your path." Saying this Tunon let go of the talisman and the scroll letting them gently float down to ground level. The scroll sealed with the Red Dragon of Ulthan, as well as the mundane magic item of about 3 inches in diameter with a balanced scale displayed on it. Able to be fixed or removed from armor with only a minute of work.
"You said Nezarat is in command of the Crimson Guard at the Tiers. Who is in command of the Disfavored currently? Are they expecting your representatives, or are we to be a surprise?"
"I have the greatest respect for my new friend Vik here, indeed I shall be watching him closely and there will be many situations where we can use his unique skills during our new assignment." Drake nods respectful at both Vik and Tunon. As the scroll and the magic item reach the floor, Drake pics them up and with deference he turns back to Tunon. "With this charge I will not disappoint you."
"Good Drake, I have the highest expectations for all of you. I don't believe you will disappoint me. With the scroll, read it verbatim to the Archons when you reach them, the word of Ulthan spoken directly to them through you as his vessel Drake." Tunon refocused on Vik to answer his question "Graven Ashe, head of the Disfavored, is currently at Fort Reckoning. While you shall be a bit of a surprise to them my marking will be more than enough to quench any concerns they may possess. Unless you have any more questions speak with the woman in the hall, she shall set you on your way."

[OOC] As he's very much the strong, silent type, a lot of my posts for Blade will be 'non-verbal'rather than "verbal". He doesn't give a lot away through body-language, expression or tone, so if other PCs want to insight check him, the DC would usually be 15. It would probably drop to a 12 when he's angry or distracted and go up to 18 when he's intentionally trying to give nothing away.

"That was quick. Yes, Melina, and I am happy to be of any assistance I can to the servants of the Archon." She said still looking down at the work on her desk before offering a smile to Allison as she approached. "He briefed me on the basics of your task. You will exit out the city to the Tiers, then follow the main road down, an offshoot before the Queen's River will be Fort Reckoning, at marching speed you will make it after dinner, roughly 9. If there is something you absolutely need I recommend you try to find it here. As you know the Bastard City is the largest trading city, you can still find merchants and craftsmen on the road and cities but usually have a smaller stock and pricier items. And I should warn you though most rebel forces are concentrated around Ascension Hall, we have had guerilla attacks on the roads on reinforcements, so do keep proper watch for this. Anything else you need to know?"
Lorahzt gave a curt nod and managed to croak out, "As you command, Archon," before turning on her heels and following the others out of the room. That was it. Her very last chance to try and weasel her way out of this assignment was gone, not that she would have ever had the gall to speak out against an Archon to this face... No, hers was simply to follow orders, and whether she liked them or not, Lorahzt had her orders. And if she wanted to follow orders and make herself useful in this little task force, then she needed more information on the situation in the Tiers.
She followed Allison when she went to speak with Melina, and on hearing the halfling's briefing, the sapper found she had a question. With a nod to the Disfavored Corporal, she asked Melina, "Pardon my intrusion, but you said the rebels are staging guerrilla attacks on the roads, yes? Do you know anything about the terrain around the rebel territory, and, for that matter, how far their reach extends?"
Vik bows to the Archon. "Thank you, Archon Tunon. We shall serve you and the Great King Ulthan well!" He turns to leave with the others.
Vik chuckles at Allison's comment. "You were not wrong, Valen does not have much confidence. Confident people are remembered. Paroth (he gestures to his current face) on the other hand, he has enough confidence for the both of them!" He ends with a smirk. "I normally don't reveal myself or my true name to others, but we will be working together. We should know of each others skills."
Vik follows the others in the back, allowing them to speak to the woman at the desk. He has everything he needs on him, ready for the journey ahead. Now he just needs to decide which mask he should wear for the road. His clothes were a little too tight as Paroth. Since it sounds like they had a bit of travel ahead, perhaps Jared would work. He lets the group get ahead of him a bit. When they look back for Vik, they will see a 6ft human with dirty blond hair cut high and tight, in typical Disfavored recruit fashion. He will give them a wink when they look. When they go to leave the building, he will pull up his cloak's hood.
Drake graciously accepts the assignment "I will deliver this to the Archons." With that he turns and follows the others out to meet with Melina. He listens to Allison's comments and lets the others work out the details necessary to find Fort Reckoning.
He responds to Melina, "Indeed, my supply cash has been used up and until I receive other remunerations I will be content with the daily supplies that I carry with me and some small amount of ready cash. Thank you. I believe I have everything I need."
He turns to the others. "It appears we must gather our things or find what we need quickly and then meet back here to leave within the hour. I need nothing but a bit of food so I will apply at the local tavern for a meal and return quickly."
With that he leaves quickly to prepare for the journey.
'Having heard Melina's instructions, Blade needs no further prompting. Pulling an abrupt about face, the half-orc marches out into the city on his way to an amourer and weapon smith that he had inquired about when first arriving in the Bastard City. The smith did quality work, was honest (enough) and, most importantly, asked no questions. Arriving at the store, Blade wastes little time in divesting himself of his chainmail armour, whilst purchasing and donning a heavier suit of splintmail. Though the solider had worn and painstakingly maintained his armour for years, selling it to the smith caused the unsentimental soldier no concern whatsoever. The mission was all that mattered, and this mission would test him... and these others... to the fullest.
Keeping the helmet embossed with his order's sigil (though on assignment for the Archon, he was still Disfavored), the warrior also purchases a sturdy warhammer, matt steel shield and a wicked looking glaive. Leaving the smiths, the focused warrior marches directly to a provisioners warehouse, picking up a number of other travel items, before striding back towards the Hall of Justice and his new unit.'

While Drake and Blade are away, Allison turns toward the others in the unit - Lorahzt, Vik and Tibark."It seems that the bulk of our mission is going to be reconnaissance in enemy territory as we approach Ascension Hall, which will involve some survival, guile, and some light combat should we be caught off guard by the enemy." Her previous smiling interest has faded now into a more neutral expression, her behavior stiffening up to match the assignment of new duties. "It would be in our interest to not start any fights we can't win - we may be tougher than most, but our numbers are limited. Traveling inconspicuously should be among the top of our priority list. So. What all are your pertinent skills to such an operation?"You can see how she got the title of Corporal - immediately attempting to coordinate at least part of the plan before even stepping out of the building.
Giving a quick salute, Vik responds to Allison. "Private Jared, reporting for duty, ma'am! This is my first mission out of basic. I look forward to working with you! As for my skills, I am quite adept with a bow, but prefer close combat. I am very proficient with my blades, ma'am!" Vik responds, while standing at attention. He relaxes a bit, and smiles "I think I should be able to handle inconspicuous."
