"You traveled here by foot, on your own? That's a pretty long walk and it's pretty dangerous. There's a ton of gnolls and bandits out there. The caravan was attacked once, but we got through it because of guards like me, Marzira, and Raul. They didn't bother us after that." Carrick says, curious of this half-elf who seems to be more than just a simple performer.

OOC clarification was provided regarding insight "He feels like there's something she's not telling him. He doesn't completely buy the fact that this half-elven performer just walked here all by herself."
Insight - taking into consideration what she actually said, Carrick feels Vox was honest about traveling by foot, in that she literally walks, hikes, etc, and her boots show the wear of someone who travels often, but gathers that, although amicable, seems to be guarded and chooses her words carefully.

"You sure ask a lot of questions," Vox calls back having already walked away some, "You should enjoy instead the fruits of your brave labor. Enjoy the market!"
She resumes perusing the market, listening to the various conversations, hoping to catch something of interest.
"I would," Marzira agreed with Carrick watching Vox walk away ahead of them. If there's anything Marzira hates more it's people who say 'you ask a lot of questions.' Usually those people are guilty of something. Not all of them, but many of them.
She continues on to the market, making rounds and checking in with some of the suppliers and merchants who had been on the caravan. She'll also keep an eye out on gifts for her mother and cousins.

"All will become equal now" | "Cause we're going to shout it loud, even if our words seem meaningless. It's like we're carrying the weight of the world"
Leto will be walking with Vox, since she was the one who called to head out in the first place. He'd be looking for objects that ping his detect magic, or just anything interesting in the caravan. As they walk, just to keep conversation going, he'll ask Vox "From where have you walked? I'm here from Korth primarily, but have contacts all over Karrnath. Though I have a horse stabled, and can't imagine doing it all on foot."
Vox's feet glow. Despite Leto openly casting the spell, I'm going to assume Vox didn't catch it, as she wasn't paying attention to Leto directly and he was following her.
Vox pauses from her musings, and responds, "Contacts all over Karrnath you say? I take it that you keep yourself quite busy visiting so many friends and family."
Leto takes a slightly deeper breath before replying "Friends and family not so much. My work keeps me rather occupied. Though I do have Hulud here" gesturing up to the raven on his shoulder "to keep me company."
Leto takes a slightly deeper breath before replying "Friends and family not so much. My work keeps me rather occupied. Though I do have Hulud here" gesturing up to the raven on his shoulder "to keep me company."
"Ravens are intelligent and opportunistic - makes for one interesting combination. They also form mated pairs for life. I'm sure Hulud is quite protective of you," Vox replies.
After a few more steps, Vox adds, "Your work must be terribly interesting if it leads you all over Karrnath."
Although speaking with Leto, Vox is splitting her attention. She looks back to check in on Leto, but tries to listen to the conversations going on around them.
Replying to Vox about Hulud, Leto will first say "We've been together for quite a while. I've also been experimenting with the arcane recently, and have been able to teach Hulud to do this" as he snaps his fingers Hulud vanishes from his shoulder ((see below)). Leto continues, saying "My work keeps me busy, and it is quite a challenge to find arcane or ancient artifacts and then finding the right home for them. I have also met many interesting people on the road, and" he waves his hand gesturing towards any who are following from the inn "here is no different."
((Passive Perception DC 15; and being nearby))
You can see that, while the raven has disappeared from Leto's shoulder, there is still the impression of his feet in the cloth of Leto's clothing on his shoulder where he'd been balancing a second ago.
((Passive Perception 15 and proximity as above, & Active Perception check DC 20))
Along with seeing that the impression remains on Leto's clothing, leading you to believe that the raven has not actually gone, but rather just disappeared, you also can notice that the shape of the impressions has changed, and do not match the shape of the raven's feet that was just there.
Merzin will stop following, finding it best not to eavesdrop any further. He will instead head to the market where he will look for somewhere that might sell tools/weapons, or a blacksmith.
Exiting the inn you all walk among the people that crowd the marketplace as the caravan members sell their goods. You meet the caravan master, a human on his fifties, who pay you and assures that if you want, you could join them in their return journey as soon as the weather improves. Perhaps in some months if the snow comes as it seems to be the case.
The mood in the town is more of a festivity than a market, and you mingle among farmers that are looking for new tools, wealthy traders that are checking the quality of a bundle of silk. The music of some mandolin played by a bard fills the air, a vibrant and happy rithym with a somehow sticky melody as some of the twonsfolk clap to keep the beat.
You could hear the music here. The link has no video...
There's a jugglar making tricks with five knives nearby and in an adjacent alley some of you notice a prostitute leading a couple to a nearby house while they jiggle.
The air is full of mixed smells of the food, some fried pork, spcied wine, cooked vetegables, fried fish, reach you as you progress throught the market place and you can see a pair of guards of the city, with their broadswords and chainmails, buying some food to the halfling that is preparing it.
It seems that the fact that they had recieved supplies for the winter had made the usual stoic people of the north to relax a little bit.
Merzin, beign a little bit away from the main stream of people, sees a little urchin too close to a merchant of fruits stock. It's a little girl with little more than rags and dirty hair and face. She hasn't took anything yet, or doesn't seems so, but she has his eye.
Vox and Marzira notices that it seems that there is a gnome that seems to be following them, or at least he follows the same path and at the same pace as them, keeping more or less the same distance. He has no weapons on sight or seems to look at them at any moment. He has a curious hat, though, a black hat with a vibrant red feather on it, from some exotic bird, that was the first thing that caught their eye in the first place. But after seeing him always behind them made something flicker in their minds.
Eljor sees that, about 50 or 60 feet ahead, there is a little group of bystanders looking and listenting to an old man that is on top pf a crate, talking to them. With all the sounds and conversations is hard to hear him from this distance, but litlle by little, it seems to be atracting more people around.
Genbo is the one who has more difficulties to keep the pace of the others, for he is almost inmmediatly asked about his fares and if he can send a message to a distant relative who lives up in the north, or if he can contact a woman's long lost love for she wants him to know she still loves him.
Carrick hears a young lad that is announcing a fighting contest and it seems that it is still accepting applicants. The boy, dressed with a very long coat for him, hands some papers to the people.
Leto notices that, even in this crowded place, people tends to avoid him, and some of them talk in whispers as he walks by. One of the guards who was buying food, looks at him as they pass by, but it seems that they don't follow.
Carrick takes one of the papers for the contest and returns to Marzira. "Hey Marzie, there's a fighting contest that's still taking contestants. We should sign up for it, we'd kick ass and it would probably be a good way to make some coin, don't you think?"

As Carrick is talking to Marzira, Vox turns to face the gnome curtsies and says, "Good gnome, that is a magnificent plume in your hat. I must ask: is your hatter also a milliner? I would be interested in such a person's sense of fashion."
"I assume that you felt the same about my own hat," she touches her own wide-brimmed, kind of swashbuckling hat, with a few small colorful feathers, as she says this, "which is why you've been trailing behind us, just waiting for a moment to tell me."
She smiles, "So, good gnome, to what do I owe the pleasure of your attention?"
Marzira tilts her head in Vox's direction as she talks to the gnome trying to listen in, and pay attention to Carrick at the same time. She had noticed them being followed as well, and would have preferred to slip away and circle back and follow the gnome. As it was Miss Vox had engaged with the gentleman.
She does study the paper Carrick holds out though. "Hm."They would definitely kick ass, of that's she's fairly certain. Confidence in her own abilities and Carrick's. She hesitates a moment at war with what she sometimes called her "better judgement" telling her this was probably a bad idea and something that might get her scolded by her parents back. But she's not back home.... And what better way to check out the type of people around the area than a fighting competition, and getting an idea of what kind of skills the people around here had.
If it was a scouting mission, surely it couldn't be a terrible idea, right? Besides, it wasn't often she got to show off.
"Sound like it could be interesting.I suppose it wouldn't hurt, especially if we're to be here a while with the weather." She glances up at the winter clouds in the sky and then back in the direction of Vox and the mysteriously hatted gnome.
