A year has passed since The Event and the world is just as dreary as it was then. Heroes and public service are still at work providing shelter to those who lost everything in the Event. People are still trying to get back into a kind of normality. Heroes are flying all over the place trying to boost morale and keep people as happy as possible. Low tier supers still do their thing but it's not the same anymore. We see a building suddenly groan and begin to collapse thanks to all the structural damage it had received during The Event finally catching up with it. Like a white and gold blur, Emblem flies into the building and with a combination of his super strength, super speed and super senses, he evacuates the building just in time to save everyone before it finally collapses into a cloud of dust. However, our story isn't about the greats like him. Our story takes place in a different city, far away from the collapsing building.
Power Trip Episode 1: Band Back Together
Our story begins in seedy part of the city. It wasn't always a seedy neighborhood, but like every other street that was heavily hit by Dark-Matter without being destroyed, the standard of living and property value went to shit faster than the rate at which bananas go bad. On the streets a young girl carries a bunch of food to a homeless shelter. She grew up in a temple and she had a feeling that she needed to help those in need in this part of town. She's been at it all day. On a bar at another part of the same neighbor hood, the neon sign "High Life" blinks randomly. A big muscular guy stands in front of the gates to the bar. A cop leisurely patrols the streets, keeping an eye out for any kind of crime. In a dark alley a hooded girl walks solemnly. Does she have anywhere in particular to be? Only she can tell. In a run down apartment flat, sits a young man engrossed in his studies.
We then cut to the Elias Bank. Most of the people who deposited their money in the bank had pulled out after The Event because it looked like the bank might close at any day. The ones that didn't take their money out... were dead. Normally, wills would be dug up and a inheritor would be found. However, that isn't really a high priority task considering the current state of the world. In the dark shadows, a gray blur seems to lurk about. This grey blur is Spy AKA Melody Velias. The Spy had her powers awaken after The Event. Her family's finances were in shambles and this led her to take up the role of a Villain. Her target tonight: Elias Bank. Undetected, she approaches the empty reception desk. As she gets ready to begin her operation she feels a rumbling under her feet. She moves just in time to avoid the floor cracking open beneath her. A large man whose body is protected by metal plates that are an inch of solid steel digs out of the ground using the large drill that's strapped on to his right hand. A few gang members quickly follow suit.
The man stands a bit over 10 ft tall and is exceptionally muscular. His white hair is kept at a buzz cut. He looks at Spy and says, "Who're you? Wait... Your that Spy that's been goin' around robbing banks an' shit. Well this is my heist and I don't like sharing."
At this point, all the others: the Cop, the temple girl, the scholar, the lurker, and the bouncer have all heard the commotion coming from the bank. They may not be able to make it quickly on their own but if they were to use their super powers, they'd be able to get there in no time.
In that dark alley nearby, Whispers walks slowly, casually kicking at some refuse in the ground with her sturdy black boots. The hood of her cloak is up, obscuring most of her features from view. The cloak itself doesn't quite reach the ground, coming up short just about where the boots end mid-calf and she has it drawn about her for warmth or perhaps just a sense of comfort.
The noise from the nearby bank draws her attention away from the half crushed tin can by her foot. She knows it's trouble. She's ignored many previous disruptions like this in the past days. Something about this one feels different though so she finds herself walking in that direction. Or maybe she's just bored.
She briefly peeks out of the alley down the street toward where the noise came. Before moving further her hands come out from under the cloak, fingers curled toward herself as she mutters something under her breath. A shimmer of dark energy surrounds her momentarily as she sets her defenses in place then leaves the alley toward the bank.
"Damn," Ilia mutters under her breath. Her eyes then go wide, and she looks up, clutching a symbol on a chain around her neck. "Oops, sorry about that. Won't happen again." She then sets down the empty bag that was full of food a few minutes ago, and pulls off her backpack. She then slips into an alley, and begins removing her baggy outer layer of clothes, revealing a white, skintight suit and a strange chestplate with a greenish crystal in the center of it. She then pulls six cylinders, two pieces of arm armor, and a pair of gauntlets. The armor is cheap, and looks as if it wouldn't provide any protection whatsoever, so it must serve a different purpose. She connects the cylinders to her shoulders, three on each side, and she begins putting on the arm armor and gauntlets. She then connects a little conduit to each cylinder, as well as to her arm armor, and from her arm armor to her gauntlets. She then pulls a cloak with a very high collar and a small headband with a greenish gem set in it out of the bag. She clasps the cloak around her neck, and puts the headband over on her head, keeping her large volume of frizzy hair out of her eyes. Transformation complete, she steps out into the light, and instantly the cylinder, the crystal, and the conduits feel with a golden light, and her suit whirs to life. She leaves the bags in the alley, and begins running to the bank.

Spy stumbles backward, a little off guard by the surprise incursion into her mark. After having taken a moment to collect herself, she stammers out, "I-I can g-go if you've business here then. We both know I'd be unable to take down an entire gang of supers by myself."
[ Sleight of hand roll: 23 ]
Even as she says this, she opens her jacket slightly, but just visibly, flicking the safety off on her rifle and getting ready to pull it from her jacket it as she backs herself up toward the front entrance.
(( Given that you mentioned dark shadows outside, I imagine it's night time? Just wanna be sure before we go much further ))
Hearing a commotion from around the corner and up the block Bo-Po thinks to himself, 'What now? Can't these low lifes give it a rest once in a while?' He goes back to scanning the street for anyone looking to enter the bar when he catches sight of a strange flash of a golden... something headed in the direction of the earlier noise. 'May as well see what this is all about.' he thinks. Leaning inside the bar, he calls out, "Hey, Tuffy! I'm grabbing a smoke, be back in a few." Grabbing his drab grey hoodie off the hook just inside the door, he slips it over his rather large head and shoulders, pops the hood up covering his bald skull, and heads in the direction of the noise and the gold flash as quickly as his massive legs will propel him.
While running, Archon unfolds her hands, revealing a complex device on each of her palms that looks sort of like a cross between a microscope and a flashlight. Golden energy flows through the conduits into the devices, and they whir into life, as a substance that looks to be made entirely out of light flows out of them and coalesces into a ball above her palms. She begins subtly twitching her fingers, and the light begins forming a shape, turning into a plate. The plate hovers over to Archon and seems to attach itself to her. More and more plates begin to form out of the devices, quicker and quicker, until they cover Archon like armor.

"Hmm that is quite interesting." Dr. Perrin sets his book down as he stands up to connect a new string to the boards that span the walls of his room."Theoretically that could put another artifact in the next town over." He quickly grabs his note pad and jots down some coordinates with a spry grin. FEED.He drops his notepad as the feeling overtakes him, he still hasn't gotten used to the primal urge that seems to fill body. "I suppose it has been some time." He grabs a long item wrapped in a blanket from out of his closet. He can feel the heat radiate from beneath the blanket, it's energy seems to pulse, almost feeling like the beat of a heart. He reaches out to grab it, and it seems to nudge itself closer to his grasp. Dr. Perrin lets out a gasp as he makes contact with the weapon. Energy flows through his body as the connection is strengthened. An energy like plasma mixed with smoke flows over his body, coalescing into a solid armor around his body, as the flow of energy slows, it begins to form what looks like a tattered trench coat. The energy gathered around his head, and formed what looks like beak, it forms into what looks like a plague doctor mask. He swings the weapon over his back. He also straps a traditional pistol to his thigh. He exits his room and heads to the roof. Once there, he takes off at a sprint and begins to run at full speed and begins leaping across the building tops.
While running, he spots a commotion coming from a nearby bank. He quickly finds a perch on a nearby building and slings his weapon over. As he lifts the weapon to his eye, a scope rises from the top of the weapon. "Let's see what is going on here."
The man says, "Don't even think about tryin' ta shoot that gun of yours. It ain't gonna work. Where do ya' think your goin' anyway, huh? You'll be stayin' here wit us. We gotta keep an eye on you." He then turns to his fellow criminals and says, "tie 'er boys."
Spy pulls out her rifle, training it on the first of the soldiers to move slightly toward her.
"Stop. I'll shoot the first person to step toward me. I can't take you all, but is fighting really worth the injury and wasted time before the heroes arrive? If I get out of here unbound and unhurt, I didn't see a thing. Call it honor among thieves."

Officer Jerome Jones, a tall, well-built black man with an easy smile, has been walking this beat for years. He knows the people, the places, the sights, and the sounds. It's a shame how quickly this part of town has succumbed to degradation when it used to be a place where families would eat, shop and play. The Event changed all that. He looks across the street at what used to be a pizza joint called Pie Are Round. Now, the building is a blackened ruin inhabited by druggies and other "lowlifes" — human cockroaches, many would call them. Jerome remembers how good the ham and pineapple pies were at Pie Are Round. They also had an old Asteroids arcade game. The owner would always give Jerome a few quarters when he ate there to thank him for his service. Jerome begins to remember times he took Shonda there, so he quickly turns to continue walking, not wanting to dwell on the past. Almost immediately, Jerome feels the ground rumble. He stops walking and studies the sensations. Not natural, he's pretty sure. He looks around and realizes he's hearing trouble coming from the old Elias Bank, which is just a couple blocks down and across the street from him. But, again, he feels they're not natural circumstances — not shouts or even gun fire. His instincts tell him supers are involved. He lifts his hand, resting it on his radio. His thumb trembles slightly over the button as his natural desire to follow protocol wars with his instincts. He finally lowers his hand without making the call.
Luckily, Jerome finds himself alone. He ducks between two abandoned buildings and very quickly strips off his uniform. Due to much practice, he's able to remove all of his street clothes, revealing the maroon and yellow suit he wears underneath at all times in a flash. He moves back out into the street and wills the large, feathery, brown and black wings to sprout from his back. Launching himself into the air, he soars only 10 feet off the street toward the bank. To keep his identity a secret, his face and ears become slightly feline, and a fine coating of white fur forms around his eyes, completing his transformation from Officer Jerome Jones into Creature.
"Honor among thieves eh? That shits been dead for a while now. Fine leave, it's not like you can do anything anyway. The large brute tells one of his gangers to keep an eye on her while he goes and smashes the wall separating the interior of the bank from the exterior. He then walks to the vault and begins drilling into it.
