Demetrio and X's fists hit from opposite side at the same time, crushing the goblin's body between them. It falls limply to the ground.
Combat is over, and you are out of initiative. Most of you (all but Soron, I believe) followed the goblin as it tried to flee. You are somewhat away from Soron's dagger light source, near where there is an opening in the southern wall of the cavern. Kylara, you notice that the opening leads to a tunnel that curves right; you see a faint flickering of light from beyond the bend.
Let me know who will loot the corpses it's a Perception check.
(You do have the option to knock opponents unconscious - only with melee attacks, not ranged or spell attacks. You need to declare it in advance though. However, it doesn't impose any greater difficulty than a regular strike.)
(Also, the rules for unarmed strike are that you deal 1 + your STR modifier damage, no die roll. This means that if you have a STR modifier of -1, you can never actually do damage, unless you are a monk or have a particular feat.)
I know we need to continue to find Gundren, but with all the injuries you have sustained, motioning to X and Demetrio, I think it may be the wise choice for our survival to rest before continuing. I have no major spells left to cast, and a rest would do you good to heal yourself. For all we know there could be a hobgoblin or a troll in there, and if we die trying to save Gundren, we still fail and were no help to him at all.
You stand in a large cavern, with what was previously an artificial reservoir taking up much of the space, though it is now empty. You entered through an opening to the south-west, and are now near another opening to the south-east, from where Kylara saw the flickering light. To the northwest is another exit, which appears to curve left and up.
A small waterfall pours water into the pool, and will eventually fill it again if the wall is replaced. The noise is a bit unpleasant, but has probably kept the sounds of your battle reaching any neighbouring cavern areas. You could take a short rest here or elsewhere, as you wish.
I did that for survival. Not for you. Clearly, you weaklings need to get MUCH stronger. If you do not, your neck will be snapped by me LONG before an enemy gets to it.
I go and retrieve my javelin from the other goblin's neck and stab it in the head with the javelin. I then get put my javelin back on my back.
Demetrio picks up his rapier and shield from the floor and then you see him kneel and he is mumbling some words. When he stands you see he no longer as exhausted as he seems before and seems to be fresh and full of vigor. Almost like he has had a

everything seems to be quiet and safe for the time being. But you guys look worn out a bit. Do we want to take a short break to gather ourselves before we venture forward?
I think we should take a nice rest and heal your wounds, it seems these goblins see well in the dark, we could rest after crossing the bridge and just posting a guard there, or simply trap the bridge itself.
If everyone agrees to the rest, (preferably long due to all spells back for spellcasters, and also full health back for everyone else.) The trap would consist of unfastening all of the ropes except one on our side, and re-securing them with a slipknot so that 3 of them fail when weight is placed and only one good rope remains.
We can back out away from the 2 paths the way we came to hopefully avoid detection, Kylara will take 1st watch, also use her skills in medicine to help the injured.
Reminder - you have not yet found the path over the bridge, only the path that leads under it; you would have to climb the tunnel walls to carry out the plan, or do some more exploring first.
Steinarr wants to press on but acknowledges that the others are in need of a break to recuperate their spent energies. He will take watch looking towards the tunnel entrances and not the bridge.

We should rest outside the cave were we did before Kylara says, Also we should hide the bodies, or bury them if possible mold earth
(Insert long rest here) I am still taking first watch.
Soron, approaching with his lit dagger : I agree as well. We should get some rest and maybe when we come back here we'll have a plan , it certainly looks like they've got one... I don't want us to walk into an ambush... again.
The party returns to the cave mouth, passing under the bridge and next to the wolf cave, and exits. Outside, the earth is rather muddy after the flood that passed by only a short time ago, but the water is seeping into the ground and you are able to find a patch of higher ground off to the side that was not indundated. You take an hour to set up camp, build a campfire and eat. You should consume a set of rations if you haven't already today. After the day's travel from Phandalin and the previous short rest, it's now early evening; you will awake before dawn. The party settles down to sleep, with Steinarr taking first watch, and Demetrio second.
Who will take third and fourth watch?

Demetrio, you find 58 copper pieces on the goblins.
Demetrio splits it with the party giving 11 to each and handing the 3 left over to X.
This is for you my friend, that was quite impressive. I’m glad your on our side, you just saved my neck.

we are eventually going to have to break this habit of resting after every fight.
Demetrio replies to Kylara
ok, lets head outside then. We can make a campfire there, eat and everyone can get some rest. We can continue exploring this cave in the morning.
