(Cairn please share the history of the road from what I said previously. Also if you could all make an Animal Handling Check that would help speed this part along)
In order to get the wagon around the trap I’m going to say Cairn helps escort the Oxen safely around the trail. The 3 of you plus Sildar get in the wagon and continue down the Tribor trail for about half the day.
Ree'lyn double-checks his gear and walks around nearby the others, staying longer in the shadows of the trees. "So, what do any of you know about the surrounding areas? "
(Fabian thank you for doing a Handling check, however I gave y’all a freebie this time) I as a DM am still trying to get the hang of having everyone participate on their own schedule.
Also I need each of you to treat this like a table top game. Ask me if you can do things? Having a conversation is fine but I’m seeing that I’m having to prompt you to do skill checks. You can ask me anything you want and I will determine what needs to be done. Thank you
Ree'lyn is glad this Ox is not particularly unfriendly towards him. He looks at the animal thinking of the rothé he has found underground and wonders, as he did other times in the past, what surface herbs, spices and fungi would go well with that meat, but does not say a word about his thoughts.
"The horse i was using got the worst of it in an ambush by goblins way back the road. That is why I had to make the rest of the way on foot. I am glad you had problems with your cart or I would still be wandering alone in these parts. At least the vermins got a proper response for that. "
After everyone helps to get the Oxen around the pit and back on task, Flyn jumps back into the rear of the cart. "Oh, it was in a pouch. That makes it kind of better." Looking around them at the bushes tracking along the side of the path. "I have never been around here so have no idea what is around. I am not happy that Goblins could jump out at us at any moment tho."
As the cart stops again, Flyn leaps back to the front again. " What is wrong this time. What is that up ahead?"
You notice two lumps that look like horses. They have been killed by arrows with black feathers. These horses belonged to Gundren RockSeeker and the horse was towing another horse with a rope. Sildar jumps up and runs over to the dead towed horse.
Sildar: Bessie!!!Bessie!!! No no no my beautiful horse!! What on earth could have done this to you? Where is Gundren?? Noooo!!
Sildar explains Gundren was towing his horse along to Phandalin because he was staying behind to gather adventurers. The horses have been dead about a day. You notice the woods surrounding this part of the trail are dense and thick. Perfect for any dangerous foes to cover their trail.
Ree'lyn tenses as the cart comes to a halt. Narrowing his eyes, he looks cautiously around and his breath is slow, his hand flickers with green and blue sparks.
Reelyn you notice the sacks on the horses have been looted and nearby lies a leather briefcase. Your fellow companions have not woken up from their nap on the road. They are in the wagon.
Ree'lyn cautiously traces his path back to the cart and gives each of his companions a nudge saying: "There are dead horses on the road. Sildar recognizes them as belonging to Gundren. Prepare for a possible ambush! The enemies may still be nearby. "
You don’t notice anything special about the leather case. It may have been the holding place for art, a map? You don’t know. And neither one of your friends have heard your calling. Sildar motions for you and him to get back to the wagon. When all of a sudden from your left side you are ambushed by two goblins. They are green and have arrows with black feathers, and it resembles those that you found in the horse. Roll for initiative order.

As you talk amongst your selves you notice a couple of lumps in the distance on the road. Sildar motions the oxen to stop.
