Thugs Insight vs Intimidate: 18
As the Dragonborn figure approaches the thugs, they get a little shaken. They shout out "We got trouble Krentz, your on your own on this one" as they start backing towards the door of the tavern in response to the Dragonborn's stance.
"Where're your goons now, Krentz," the half-orc says as she gives him one last punch, knocking him unconscious on the ground. Herself having taken a few hits, not looking nearly as rough as the man that joined her though, she drags the body over to the door and throws it outside, where the others take him away down the street. Nodding in Griffdar's direction, Yagra goes back to the bar and gets another drink.
The peace is shortlived however, as a large thud is heard in the direction of the well, nearby where the fight ended. All the patrons have turned their attention from their drinks, collecting their winnings from the impromptu fight, and other activities their performing, and an off-tune note cuts short. Two large, green hands holding onto the edge, which bend and reveal a hulking creature climbing out of the pit.
The sounds of laughter and merriment are all of a sudden awash with screams of panic, as this monster with warty green skin, a wiry nest of black hair, a long, carrot-shaped nose and bloodshot eyes finishes climbing out of the pit, and into the Yawning Portal's main tap room. As it bares its yellow teeth, you can also see that the creature is not alone. You can see attached to its body are a half-dozen bat-like creatures, with three more circling above it like flies. Everyone in the bar screams in fear and starts running towards the door. Everyone but Yagra, who readies her mace and Durnan, who reaches under the bar and pulls out a very well-kept greatsword that he seems to have no trouble wielding, despite his build. As he pulls out the sword, he only shouts out one word. "Troll!" He jumps over the counter, pushing past Tyrus and runs to engage the Troll.
We are now entering combat. (As this is our first encounter, I thought I'd let you know how we'll play combat in this PbP style. People will still roll initiative as normal, however - the order in which players go is up to you - I'll post the troll and stirge initiatives in this post - ANYONE that got higher than both will be able to go in any order they wish, if you got higher than one but lower than the other, you all will go in any order you like (rather than having to wait for whoever was previous in the order) and then if NPCs are at the bottom of the turn order, they will go when everybody has acted accordingly. Feel free to post your first action with your initiative roll, then once everyone has done that, I'll summarize the first round in one post and we'll begin the next round (with whichever grouping that's at the top of the initiative order taking point). Hope this makes sense and it's just so we can keep the flow of things going.) On that note here are your Initiative DCs:
Troll: 20 Stirge: 16
Allied NPCs:
Durnan: 14 Half-Orc: 16
The Initiative order will also be posted on the campaign page in the public notes and I will post each player group with who is expected to take actions next in a spoiler section like this one so the post isn't too cluttered
(Edited - should be clear now - had to check what it was before I responded. For future reference: if there is only a roll with no text going with it - it means I'm working on the post at that moment in time and had to check the results of a roll before continuing, I'll be editing the post with the effect of these results within a few minutes depending on what happens, in this case - quite a lot happened as it was a very successful roll that succeeded and made the bandits back off, not wanting to deal with a big Dragonborn Paladin in armour.)
[OOC: Previous version edited to add flavour text, none of the mechanical stuff has been changed.]

Initiative Roll: 4 (As Tyrus hasn't contacted the other player's characters yet, he will act as soon as his initiative allows).
Bonus Action: Bardic Inspiration on the barkeep Durnan.
Action: Sleep spell cast at the Troll hoping to take out the majority of the stirges accompanying it: sleep effect roll of 5d8 is: 24
Move: Tyrus will back away from the troll and pull his handaxe free from his backpack if allowed.
---
Having been pushed aside by the barkeep, Tyrus finally recovers his wits and realises that they are all in deadly danger.
"Give him one for me, oh mighty warrior," yells Tyrus, letting his inspiring Arcane Magic empower his voice and the barkeep.
Then, realising that there is a way for him to help in this fight, his fingers plunge into the component pouch at his waist and come out with some fine sand, which he flicks in the direction of the troll, hoping to at least take some of the nasty blood-sucking stirges out of the fight.
He then backs away towards the corner while groping for the handaxe secured to the side of his backpack.
(OOC: No worries, I've already mentioned in the first post that commitment levels are around once a week minimum (I try and respond within 1-3 days to all posts) so there's really no rush. Of course, your welcome and encouraged to post more often if you can. Once I've got everyone's initiative/first moves I can write up accordingly.

Just as the new threats emerge he quickly turns off the charm and springs to action he rushes at the troll full force and draws his greatsword while running and swings it down in a 12-6 motion.

+2 for Dex Mod, Initiative Roll of 14 for Briga
A sane response to a hulking troll and blood drinking winged creatures suddenly gushing forth from a gaping hole in the middle of a tavern is fear, self preservation. Briga's is not a sane response, clearly a testament the overriding passions and ignorance of her youth. She is keyed up from some personal victory early in the evening, and still has yet to come to grips with her own mortality. Still, she knows the Troll is more than she can handle.
On her initiative Briga will draw/equip her Glaive into two hands, make an attack action with the Glaive against a Stirge from 2 squares away using the weapon's reach, use a bonus action to attack with the blunt end via Polearm Master, still from reach, and then move her remaining movement away, ready to attack any who enter her threatened reach via Polearm Master. If she is already threatened and/or unable to attack from reach, she will not move, movement conditioned on no attacks of opportunity against her, but she will still make the attacks.
"Haha, yes! It looks like this place just got a lot more lively! Perk of drinking at the Yawning Portal - dinner and a show! Come and get it you overfed mosquitoes! Today you face Briga of the Tribe of the Bear!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Pre-rolling attacks and damage in case. First (attack action, if applicable) is an 11 after adding modifiers to hit, second for bonus action attack is a 19, and final opportunity attack, if triggered, is a 12.
Damage for those attacks, if hits, is 11 slashing for the first (attack action), 8 bludgeoning with the 2nd (bonus action attack from polearm master) and if triggered for an opportunity attack by an enemy entering her threatened reach, 8 slashing with the Reaction attack. No rage use at present.
As the troll comes climbing out of the hole, six of the nine stirges detach themselves and start flying down back into the well. One of the stirges flies towards Griffdar and attempts to attach himself on to him.
Attack: 11 Damage: 5
The first stirge starts heading towards Griffdar but managing to see it, the stirge is unable to bite through the chainmail armour that he is wearing. It returns to buzzing around his head, getting ready for another swing.
Another stirge heads toward Arlon, also trying to latch itself onto him.
Attack: 15 Damage: 4
The second stirge flying towards Arlon is also unable to get purchase onto its target, it continues buzzing in the air in an annoying monotonous ring.
The third stirge flies towards Briga, as a fresh target, and attempts to also latch itself onto her.
Attack: 18 Damage: 6
The third stirge, however, manages to get onto its target, getting it's bloodsucker through Briga's hard skin, piercing it and begins sucking the blood out of her. It keeps itself attached to Briga's arm as it starts feeding itself from the human's blood.
Griffdar is the first to see the danger now presenting itself in the tavern, taking a giant swing at the troll that has climbed out of the pit, hitting it square in the side as it lets out a guttural grunt as the greatsword makes an impact, dealing damage to this already blood-sucked troll.
As Arlon begins casting the spell, he is still being harassed by the stirge that flew in his direction.
Having all these options, Briga pulls out her glaive, getting within reach of the troll, who manages to avoid the first strike as he notices a threat coming from another direction. He didn't prepare for the followup, however - as this time the glaive manages to come into contact with the troll, managing to create a wound in the troll's shoulder.
The troll being threatened in multiple directions howls out as you all notice that some of the damage that had just been done, including the cut - begins to seal itself back up and the troll regains some of its energy. It then bites down at Durnan who charged in with his greatsword.
Attack: 13 Damage: 8
As the troll goes to bite down onto Durnan, Durnan interposes his sword between the troll's mouth and himself, keeping him at bay with the side of his sword, pushing hard against the mouth of the troll, as he does this, it leaves him open to the attack from the claws.
Attack: 22 Damage: 12
The claw swings into Durnan's open side, causing him to recoil and take a step back, it left a nasty scratch, but Durnan doesn't look like the type to go down without a fight.
And finally, it responds to Griffdar's attack by swinging its claws once more into him.
Attack: 19 Damage: 12
As Griffdar manages to evade the stirge distracting him from the bigger threat, a claw comes swinging into the side of Griffdar's body, giving him an almost fatal wound in one move, Griffdar managing to barely stay on his feet as this heavy-handed claw comes swinging into him.
The half-orc steps up, pulling out her own mace and charging at the troll "Oh no you don't you green lump" she shouts as she charges at the creature "now let's put this monster down," swinging her mace into the side of the troll.
Attack: 24 Damage: 11
There is the sound of a heavy impact into the troll as the mace hits it right in the stomach, the wound beginning to ooze blood as the half-orc woman who was in the bar fight earlier makes a heavy swing into the green abomination that climbed out of the well.
Durnan, having seen the damage the troll has already done just grunts as he swings his large greatsword at the beast who has invaded his tavern, with a look only a rare few get to see in Durnan's eyes. "This is my place," he says as he swings.
Attack: 16 Damage: 11
Durnan makes an impact with his attack, impacting the troll once more with the sword he pulled from under the bar. As you watch his fighting style you can definitely tell that this might be a more common occurrence than Durnan lets on, as he obviously knows how to fight. Striking the Troll in the stomach, leaving another wound on the flubbery mass that the troll possesses.
Most of the stirges having left the trolls body, Tyrus lets off a spell just as most of them start entering the well, managing to hit most of the area where the fight was taking place, though as the troll had headed in the direction of the bar as they detached he is able to get all of the stirges within the radius of a spell as he starts flicking a dust towards the troll. As he does that one by one, the stirges start to fall to the ground, the ones over the well drop over 40 feet and due to their size, there is no noise from them upon impact in the well. Tyrus neutralizes the stirges, allowing everyone to focus on the bigger problem. The troll. Durnan shouts out to everyone "Hit it with Fire! Hit it with Acid! This thing is regenerating!" though even with the regeneration, the troll looks pretty hurt at this point.
That's the end of the first round - as the stirges were taken out, will await posts from Griffdar, Arlon and Briga before posting any more at this point. You guys can post in any order you wish - and after this round, Tyrus will also be able to join in with that as it will effectively cycle back to players at this point. For now however Tyrus - hold tight till after the group.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Briga retches, briefly dry heaving, not a scream of pain but pure shock as the thing from below drinks greedily of her blood. She adjusts her grip on the Glaive and attempts to continue fighting.
"I am not your prey animal, you gross winged leech! Let me remind you how much higher on the food chain I am. Gonna make a mess on your floor now, Durnan! Sorry not sorry!"
OOC-Without a map I'm not sure on positioning, so I'll just state attack priority 1 - the Stirge that attacked her, 2 - any other Stirges that remain, 3- the Troll, Reaction attack priority is the first enemy that enters her threatened area, if that happens.-
OOC: Currently, Arlon and Tyrus are at the bar, Briga and Griffdar are nose to nose to the troll with Durnan and the half-orc woman - about 15 feet away from the bar. The stirges are all on the ground, six of them splatted when they landed and the other stirges were all within range of Tyrus's sleep spell (if you want to change target to the troll let me know). The three remaining stirges (including the one that got an attack on you) are now asleep, so you can squish the sleeping stirge or attack the troll, will let you decide :)
"Ok, take a nap then. Couldn't handle my awesome Reghed blood, leech." She shifts her stance to focus on the troll, and glances at her companions of coincidence.
"Together we can take this troll guy, right?" She clearly seems to be trying to convince herself, but pondering whether this will be her death doesn't slow Briga from taking action.
"Don't be afraid, you guys. I'm Briga of the Reghed Glacier, totem warrior of the Bear Tribe, devout of Tempos, and as of today a paid bounty hunter of Waterdeep. We'll win, because... because I've never died!"
She doesn't seem to realize, or care, how ridiculous her efforts to maintain morale sound.
