"I'm sure you could arrange it, I mean, it's beyond me, but you could find a way, I mean, they're pretty much holding a party for whoever arrives next week, Tuesday, same day as their kids' birthdays. Maybe they're just celebrating, though they've never held such a public party for a birthday before, even their own... I smell something off about it and probably gonna stay away, but that's me," he says as he continues his drink.
"Is there some sort of formal invitation? If you aren't attending could we use yours?"

"I don't have one, but the only ones that have to have invites are VIPs. They have opened it up to the first one hundred people to arrive will also be able to join in the festivities for Founder's Day - the party is about a tenday away," the patron says.
"Well, I have something booked on my social calendar a full tenday out, that's a new one," Briga says to her friends. "Plenty of time for me to get a less ratty looking dress. Assuming I can afford it, which assumes we get paid before then. Like I said, this is certainly suspicious, but I don't see a connection to the Viper. I agree, we should attend the party, but in the meantime, I'm not sure if we have any legit leads on our bounty."
Although he is apparently not very good at it, Tyrus is still sitting away from his more flamboyant-looking friends on the lookout for suspicious activity and so isn't part of this conversation.
He's probably starting to feel a little bored and is probably thinking of the words he would use to describe his feelings when confronted by a room full of tieflings, if ever he were to tell the story of his failed attempt to gain information about the Cassalanter household: ... Fear trickled down my spine like cold sweat as the half-demon housemaster loomed over expecting me to perform miracles of tinkering in seconds like some master thief in a mummers' play...
Tyrus will also buy himself another drink to avoid suspicion falling on him and also to help pass the time away.
"Right, well that's the Abandoned Dragons a tenday from now's problem," Briga says. "The Abandoned Dragons right now still have a thief to maybe catch."
OOC: If there's no more information to be gathered in the next period of time, in this location, I am fine with abstracting the remainder of the scene and moving on to the next lead.
Unfortuantely, the leads you do have all have led to dead ends, but when you return to your tavern during the day, there is an envelope that has been slid under the door.
Arlon will cast detect magic before anyone picks it up then if it is "safe" will look at the envelope to see if there are any notes. If not he opens it.
Made curious by Arlon's caution, Tyrus offers to investigate any magic Arlon detects using his identify spell (If it is required, he will cast it as a ritual).
"Do ye often get nasty magic letters in this city?" he asks as the two of them examine the object.

AKA: Phillip Berrie: writer, editor and academic thrillseeker—a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
The envelope does not radiate, or contain, anything magical. When you opens the envelope, there are four tickets to the opera being held at the Lightsinger Theatre tomorrow evening - The Fall of Tiamat, along with a folded note. The note reads:
"Renaer tells us that the Abandoned Dragons are a good bet. He bought you all tickets to the opera tomorrow evening at the Lightsinger Theatre in the Castle Ward. If you are interested, meet Mirt at intermission. Private Box C. Formal Attire is required for admittance."
There isn't any signature or marking to suggest who left the note for you, except for the name Mirt on the letter.
Mirt is well known across Waterdeep as a retired adventurer, now money-lender - one of the most successful within the city. He has done multiple expiditions into Undermountain, though now retired from the adventuring life. He has made several trips down with Durnan in the past, and the two have become good friends as a result. Pretty much everyone in the city knows Mirt, and has since become personal agent for the Open Lord of Waterdeep, Laerel Silverhand. He has friends in very high places. Anyone from Waterdeep would know this.
"Shopping it is if we want to look the part but if they ask us for something and being who we are it is a possibility, let's try to be ready for anything."
He goes to the stairs to go to his room. Stops. " Does this mean no going to the other thing ?"
"Shopping!" says Tyrus, looking at Arlon in surprise. "What be wrong with what ye've got on now?"
Then he looks at his own clothes and says, "And there be now't wrong with me own clothes either; good sturdy dwarvish clothes. Why do we need to be spending any money?"

"I'm going to need some new clothes for the opera, Tyrus," Briga says. "The opera is pretty much an upper class thing. I say this because none of the poor stiffs I've ever dealt with have been to one, and neither have I. It's another job opportunity from the sound of it. I don't know him personally, but Mirt is a pretty big deal in Waterdeep, and as a former adventurer who made it big he could be a good patron, or at least have some decent advice. And hey, I've never been to the opera. I'm in."
Briga counts out her coins, laying down 6 gold pieces and 4 silver pieces. "Outright purchase of a real opera-grade dress would probably run me around 15 gold dragons. I saw one when I was window shopping that I, uh, kind of liked, for that price. Red number, slits up the side for mobility, and it went with some pointy heeled shoes that looked like they could do some damage if you couldn't get to your dagger. They probably had a shorter woman in mind, 'legs for days,' as they say on the street, not 'legs for several tendays.' For that money they usually go the extra mile and tailor these things. I suppose I could look into a rental if we can't scrape enough money together."
