"Madam Eva has the answers you seek" replies Stanimir briefly. "Though by curing the curse on our dread lord, it should free those trapped by his tyranny,"
"And where can we find Madam Eva, good sir?" He asks. He didn't know why the old man couldn't just tell him outright, but from what he said about them being dramatic, he supposed this was one of their more dramatic flairs. He could do without it, and much rather preferred a more succinct response. But then again, he had to admit it was rather unique and somewhat interesting. At the very least they weren't boring.
Roselina just could not think of Barovia at all, not remembering hearing about it before today or ever seeing it on a map before. Then she heard as Jodrith also had not heard of it before either, agreeing that he would also like to help them too but warning the Vistani about trying to deceive them as well. Hansen also wanted to help too before asking the Dragonborn if he would be willing to go along. Soon Vrakvroth made a good point, asking Stanimir that if they come to the prince's domain, will they be able to leave after entering or will they be trapped there too. She listened as Stanimir told that Madam Eva has the answers and how by curing the curse on their dread lord, that it should free those trapped by his tyranny. "Alright then, it seems that everyone is in agreement. We shall go with you to Barovia and lift the curse from the prince so that his soul may rest in peace. It should be no trouble for us after all." Roselina had said back to him with a gentle smile and a nod. Besides the fact that they needed to get rid of these people from Daggerford anyways and that they would be dealing with a former noble prince, she also figured that if people were to know that she helped lift this curse from an old prince, then she would applauded and loved by all for being so kind by having saved a royal from the past and freeing those in Barovia from tyranny. Her reputation would soar so high and she will have legions of loyal followers along with suitors by the dozens just begging for her hand in marriage before she becomes queen. There is no way that she is going to let such an opportunity like this slip by her, believing that it will be easy enough for her to get close to this prince and lift his curse. Roselina then heard as Hansen asked where they could find Madam Eva, wondering about that as well.
"We can take you to her, it's easy to get lost in the mists," is all Stanimir says in response to the question posed. "Ratka, Damia, time to go as Madam Eva predicted, are we all set?" he asks his children. "Yes, father," they both say as the final horse is hitched up to the carts. "We will travel to Barovia, and don't worry about food and drink, we have you covered," he said, smiling once again after the tale was told, handing each of your drinks as they begin heading away from Daggerford.
The journey takes you south from Daggerford, down the Trade Way. Travel for the first few days is rather uneventful. As you continue travelling, however, you start noticing black pools of water that stand like dark mirrors in and around the now muddy roadway. Giant trees loom on both sides of the roads as the mist begins to get thicker until you can barely see in front of you.
"Stay close now, we'll get you through the mists, and stay together," Stanimir says as the mists thicken even more. As you continue walking through the mists, Roseline feels something underfoot that feels... solid, which doesn't match the rest of the muddy roads you find yourself travelling down, and you notice an object on the ground.
"I am satisfied. This appears to be a quest worthy of my time. I am prepared to leave at once. I have left my attendants to care for my property in my absence. Lead on."
Vrakvroth settles into the ride as the caravan of wagons moves out.
Roselina was glad to hear that Stanimir said that they will take them to Eva since it's easy to get lost in the mists and how they won't have to worry about food or drink either. That is a relief, taking a drink and thanking them for it. Luckily the first few days down the Trade Way were pretty boring and ordinary but she was not exactly enjoying being stuck in a caravan like this either, used to a much more comfortable and lavish lifestyle. She was then noticing black pools of water, disgusted and also seeing giant trees before realizing how thick the mist was getting, unable to see anything in front of her really. Roselina had heard Stanimir, nodding and now really unable to see in front of her due to really thick mists and not liking this at all, trying to keep close to the guys. But soon she was surprised when she felt something solid under her foot as opposed to the muddy road, looking down at an object on the ground. She was curious, deciding to pick it up, seeing what it is while making sure not to fall behind the others.
It seemed to be a small wooden cube with a lid on one side. The box was covered in mud, but the wood was rather sturdy and looked like treated oak wood. The box didn't seem to have any signs of a keyhole to open the box or any latch which kept it shut.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Roselina was surprised as it was a wooden cube with a lid, using Prestigidation to get any remaining mud off of it. But there was no keyhole or latch on it even though it has a lid, thinking that it must open in some way. She will try to pull the lid off or find some way to get it off if that doesn't work, still following behind the others.
Hansen kept close to the rest of the group once thet set off. His shield was out and once the mist began to settle in, he decided to cast Light again, only to find that the fog was pressing in, almost oppressively and that the light was, although somewhat useful, not very great when surrounded by fog. He kept it up however and followed the group, recasting it every time it went out. And all the while, his free hand was resting on his mace. The fog was making him nervous, and he kept looking around as if bracing himself for something to jump out at them.
Seeing Roselina was no longer with the group he sees her behind him with an object in her hand. "Keep up, My Lady," he says to her, "Wouldn't want the heiress to get lost in this fog."
"If we are being honest, we all just met today for the first time and it was at a very brief meal within the Duchess' Keep. I haven't quite come to a conclusion of what my opinion about each person here is yet. Though now that we are setting off together, I'm sure we are all going to get real acquainted. I know we just met, but I don't make idle threats." Jodrith then shoots you a smile.
Jodrith looks about the gloomy environment they have traveled into. The more the fog closes in the tighter Jodrith grips the hilt of his maul. "I don't like not being able to see my surroundings, especially in unfamiliar territory."He says in the general area mostly to himself, and to anyone who might be listening.
Hearing both Hansen and Vrakvroth call out, Jodrith eyes that direction making sure that everything is fine.
Jinhazar silently follows the group while haphazardly adding to his notes on the Vistani. He is curious about this Madam Eva. He is suddenly taken aback by the amount of fog that has rolled in.
OOC: I am leaving soon to go to an anime convention and I will be busy staffing it this weekend so I won't be able to post at all until I get back on either Sunday evening or Monday. So bot her and with this box since she obviously can't get it open, have her hand it off to Jodrith or Hansen to try to open it for her.
As Roselina opens the box, a small dancer humanoid figurine rises out of the box to be surrounded by mirrors. It doesn't seem to be moving at the moment but there does seem to be some sort of rotating panel where the figurine stands.
Feeling his horse move from splashing in puddles to riding on a hard surface Vrakvroth catches up to Stanimir after ensuring Roselina would not fall too far behind.
"We must be getting close now good sir? How much further must we travel?"
Jinhazar pulls out one of his notebooks and starts jotting down notes on his current location and what has happened so far. Being raised in a monastic library, he takes pretty detailed notes, though most people can't understand them at first glance.
(OOC: What would I roll, if i need to roll, for the accuracy of the notes that Jinhazar has taken?)
(OOC: No roll required for the actual notes, I will give you advantage to recall information with Intelligence checks in the future if it's regarding something Jinhazar has seen or experienced already)
A couple of hours later, as you continue walking, the fogs spill out of the forest to swallow up the road behind you. Ahead, jutting out from the impenetrable woods on both sides of the road, are high stone buttresses looming grey in the fog. Huge iron gates hang on the stonework. Dew clings with cold tenacity to the rusted bars. The gate is flanked by two headless statues of armed guardians, their heads now lying among the weeds on the ground at the base of the statues. They greet you only with silence.
As the lead vehicle of the caravan approaches, the gates slowly swing open, screeching as the hinges move as if they haven't been oiled in a very long time.
You continue through towering trees, whose tops are lost in the heavy grey mist, that seems to be everywhere here, and block out all but a death-grey light. The trunks of these trees are so unnaturally close to one another, and the woods have the silence of a forgotten grave, yet exude a feeling of an unvoiced scream as you continue. Continuing down the road for a few more hours, you start seeing tall shapes looming out of the dense fog that surrounds everything. The muddy ground underfoot gives way to slick, wet cobblestones. The tall shapes become recognizable as village dwellings. The windows of each house stare out from pools of blackness. No sound cuts the silence except for the mournful sobbing that echoes from the streets from a distance.
Hansens walks with the rest of the group, a deep chill forming in his bones as his armoured boots walk through the muddy cobblestones. Pelor's might was blocked here, and with gritted teeth he grips the holy symbol around his neck as if to give him comfort, to know that his god is still around in this dread and fell place. "What madness have we walked ourselves into?" He asks almost to himself even as he makes a small prayer to Pelor.

Hearing Hansen's comment Vrakvroth slows down and waits for Roselina.
"Come along m'lady. Stanimir says we must remain close."

"Is that village up ahead are destination?" Jodrith asks towards Stanamir. "Dire looking place.."
