Continuing to struggle, and returning to the original corridor, unable to open the crypts for Rose and Thorn, with a slight disappointment you return to the junction where there was another crypt opposite, you could also head west to return to the room where you fought the grick, or head north - which would lead back to the stairs that led down here and beyond to areas yet explored.
Vrak sighs in relief as the bones are laid to rest as best as they can.
"Better this than nothing I suppose. Let us continue."
He moves across the hallway to the crypt opposite the one they were just in to check it to make sure no one or nothing is hiding within. He will make no attempt to open any crypts.
"I have no desire to interrupt the rest of any spirits that may lay here in the crypts."
Crossing in the hall towards the other crypts, again there are two stone slabs to the east and the west on the southern wall, mirroring the previous chamber. The one to the east has the name "Gustav Durst" and the one to the west has the name "Elisabeth Durst."
"I wonder, creepy as it might seem, if these rooms might be safe enough to take an hour and rest. The room with the crypts for the kids may be best as we have settled those spirits. I certainly would feel better I had a chance to rest before we continue. "
Heading back to where you laid Rose and Thorn to rest, in the company of their remains, you take some time to recover from the battles you have had so far. Resting for an hour, you all get a short break in the action.
[OOC: Short rest happens - feel free to use hit dice and recover your short-rest abilities :)]
Perhaps it's the strangeness of the location but something keeps Vrak from getting the full rest he had hoped he would get. While he certainly felt better than before the time sitting in the crypt was not nearly as restful as it could have been.
Afterwards he is ready to resume.
"Let us check the other areas we passed by when we came down the stairs."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Roselina would have agreed to this, so because she is still in perfect health and bored waiting for the other two to rest up, she would play a melody on her viol as she misses home right now.
Song of Rest: 1 hp to Vrakvroth and Jinhazar if you two are spending a hit dice or more to heal during a short rest
As Vrak sits and rests, his mind restless, he feels the soothing tone of Roselina's song. His mind settles and he feels rested.
"Thank you" he says simply, as he feels he knows that her song was somehow magical and that it helped him finish his rest fully prepared to face what was next.
After Roselina finished and the two were done resting, she had heard Vrakvroth thank her as she nodded. Then she heard Jinhazar in her head thank her and apologize for earlier since he was bleeding from his chest, surprised. She smiled a little, nodding back to him as well. "That's a good idea." she said as she heard Vrakvroth, agreeing with him and following behind.
Heading upwards past the alcove to the west that leads to the stairs that went down from the house, you continue east before the corridor splits to the south five feet before the end of the corridor where it turns to the north. Heading into that final alcove, the stone slabs in this chamber have been moved aside already - revealing the crypts behind. The one to the east is blank and up against the eastern wall of the chamber, the one to the west has a stone slab next to the open tomb, on the western wall, that has "Walter Durst" etched into it.
Looking into the open crypts Vrak makes sure they ate indeed empty. He then steps back into the hallway.
"Here are the steps back up. And it appears there is passage here as well. It matters not to me which way we go. We can return back to where the monster was or just go down this passage. Since we are already here we might as well go down this closest passage. I feel like I am just wandering aimlessly not knowing where I am going."
With that said Vrak heads down the closest passage that runs north if I'm understanding correctly.
Roselina had heard Vrakvroth talk about where to go and that they should keep going down, feeling like they have been wandering aimlessly. "Yes, this seems to be quite the labyrinth they had built down here." she said in agreement to him, following along.
((OOC: I'm assuming that is the passage that doesn't return to the stairs, but the one that is further down the corridor, which would be about equidistant from the empty tombs as the passage north to the stairs))
Heading to the northernmost passage, it continues ten feet before descending five feet down a set of stairs. At the Eastern end of the room stands a wooden table with four chairs. To the west of the room are four alcoves that each contain a moldy straw pallet, that would probably act as basic bedding for someone. The rest of the room is empty, but there is a corridor leading off the north wall between the room with the table and the alcoves.
The corridor leads to a room which has a four foot diameter well shaft with a three foot high stone lip. The well descends 30 feet to a water-filled cistern. Hanging from a rope and pulley mechanism that is bolted to the wall is a wooden bucket. There are five other side rooms that lead off of this chamber. Each of the chambers has a wooden-framed bed with a moldy straw mattress and a wooden chest in front of the beds, each of which are secured with an iron padlock that have all started to rust slightly.
Finally, there is a corridor on the south western end of the wall.

Before leaving Jinhazar does his best to at least rest the bones of the children on their crypts.
Putting the bones down, you feel the spirits of the children leave your presence as they are put to rest.

Roselina follows along as well.

Jinhazar looks at Roselina and thanks her psychically for the healing. He also apologizes for his outburst earlier as he was bleeding from his chest.
