As Hansen is trying to recall information on the people the guards described, he is suddenly interrupted in his concentration by a stranger stumbling behind him on Jodrith's weapon. "Aye friend, apologies," he says, "official business. Move along."
He then continues to try and figure out if he knows these people or not.
Jinhazar looks up at the man on his horse. Staring at him, he says, "Umm...I was told to come here. Well no so much as told as I have been lead here. I was told that someone needed my help and I was lead to this point." His voice ringing through the mans head, as his lips did not move. Jinhazar stares and blinks copiously. He appears to be confused but truthful in his "words".
Wandering the streets of Daggerfall, Jinhazar, still dressed in his robes from the library, staff in one hand and bag in the other, stumbles through the cobblestone streets trying to keep all of his scrolls and equipment from falling out. Not looking where he is going, he stubs his toes on a maul and trips over himself. His bag slips out of his hands and papers, inkwells and quills go flying everywhere. He faceplants on the ground in front of a very large and imposing man in a fur coat. He begins to crawl about, trying to pick up as much of his supplies as possible. Without even looking up he telepathically speaks to the large imposing man, "I pray your forgiveness good sir. I seem to have tripped over something and I did not mean to startle you, if I did. Not saying that you are easily startled or anything." Quickly finding his staff next to him, Jinhazar stands up and strikes the ferule of his staff on the ground and casts Light on the pennet of his staff. One by one the seven stars in the emblem and then the pair of eyes light up and shine a light on the ground.
(OCC: Are you a new party member? You're not listed as one of the players for this campaign and if not, then you shouldn't be posting here at all since this is a private PbP.)
(OOC: I'm actually waiting for the DM to send me the link so i can add my character to the list. But if you would like to do the honors that works too.)
Taken back once again by the sudden voice from within his head, "I am Jodrith, who sent you here, Jinhazar?" A questioning look lingers on Jodrith's face but not because of the person but still due to the way this person communicates. This is the first person he has encountered that communicates in such a way and it was intriguing.
((OOC: If I may, what am I looking at here. Human, elf, etc..? Just trying to get a picture of this character))
Roselina listened as the guards told them that there were 12 of the strangers, wearing outlandish and bright and colorful clothing. They speak Common but their accents are definitely not local either, not knowing much else but mentioning to be careful as they are tight-knit communities where offending one is offending all of them. "Alright, thank you gentlemen. Keep doing your jobs." she said back to them with a bow. Now she was thinking of if these folk seem familiar to her in any way from what she has been taught growing up and read in history books as well. While doing so, she saw a man trip in front of Jodrith as he spilled out all sorts of things before shaking her head. "Move along, this is official business that has nothing to do with commoners."Roselina dismissed him before she noticed the others speaking with and about the man but he was not speaking."Another joining us, Jinhazar? Just what is going on here? The Duchess only spoke of us chosen and never said anything of anyone else joining us. Speak." she questioned this whole situation before commanding the man to speak, wanting to know why he is here and how everyone is seemingly speaking with him when he is not saying anything at all. Roselina continued to think of what she could possibly know about these strangers that they need to get rid of.
(OOC: Yep we've been in communication about joining for some time, so welcome to our new player Athenos playing... well as your asking that in character I feel it best to keep it that way ;))
IC: There are many different travelling groups that travel the forgotten realms. Daggerford is a small community itself, but it is a stop along the way for merchants. None more renowned in their success as a group of travellers that call themselves the Vistani.
Nobody really knows exactly where they came from, or even exactly who they are - but the rumours about them are vast. Some say they are no better than goblins and still the children, while others say that it's just a very good travelling act. Some say they can tell the future and others say that they're frauds in it for the money. The Vistani are both bogeyman and knight in shining armour but one thing is clear. They match the stories that Hansen had heard about them.
There was, however, one thing that all the stories say. They themselves are very good at telling stories, and if they are in town - then who knows what they could be planning.
"These sound oddly like the Vistani," Hansen said as he looked at the rest of the group, including the new comer that had decided to join them. He didn't know what to make of it, considering he didn't seem the figure at the Duchess's place, but perhaps that was because they were simply tardy, or were busy with something else. Regardless, he continued, "perhaps by indulging them they will be more receptive in keeping the peace? Lady Roselina, would you like to take point in this? Perhaps a figure from high society would make them feel honoured."
Jinhazar looks at the woman, without moving his lips, says, "I beg your pardon ma'am. The goddess Selune has lead me here. She has sent me to aid you and bring her light to your path." He awkwardly bows or curties....he doesnt know much of social graces.

Roselina had still been thinking when she heard Hansen say that the strangers sound like the Vistani, surprised but not showing it as she nodded. "Ah, yes. Of course it would be the Vistani."she said back, making it seem like she knew what he was talking about. Then he said that they should indulge them so they would be more receptive in keeping the peace and asked if she would take point in this since they might feel honored with a figure of high society such as her. "Yes, it would be best for me to take the lead. I would hope that they feel honored getting to talk to me and be in my presence after all." Roselina had said back to Hansen, nodding back with a smile as she agreed with him. Then she was quite shocked as she heard the voice in her head, looking at the strange man as his lips weren't moving. Ah, he must be one of those weird religious or bookworm types who believe that they are somehow connected to a being like a Cleric would. "The Duchess didn't say anything about you, but we could always use a little help so long as you make yourself useful. Shall we go now?" she said back to him before addressing everyone as they should get to these Vistani soon and start talking with them in order to complete this mission.
Jinzahar obliges, and tags along with the group. Nearly tripping over his robe while walking. He strikes the ferule of his staff on the ground again and the light fades away from it. He looks in Jordith's direction and asks telepathically, "Who's this duchess you folks keep talking about? Btw while im talking to someone like this, ive discovered they can temporarily communicate with me the same way."
Jodrith has to think for a second, does one just will themselves in their own mind to speak back. In a effort he doesn't know will even work, Jodrith looks to Jinzahar and begins trying to "will" his response in his mind to return the same way this person was communicating. "The Duchess is an important noble of Daggerford. She requested the four of us" gesturing to the group around Jinzahar "to come and assist on a problem the town was suffering as of late. Some group of people camped near by causing problems with the locals and apparently not taking the hint their welcome has run out." Once his thought was completed, Jodrith would watch Jinzahar hoping to get some type of physical response confirming that his "mind message" was communicated to him.
Hansen noticing Jodrith's movements, looks over at the goliath as he moves his hand as though he's talking, and Hansen gives him a strange look. Probably one that likes to be in his own head he said to himself with a slight shrug as he slowly looks forward again, trying to locate where these Vistani peoples were camped on the hill.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Oh, so that's who they are. I passed by them on the way into town. They seemed like a lively bunch. The music was delightful." Jinhazar responded telepathically to Jodrith. He fumbles through his bag and looks to see if he has any information on the race or culture of the Vistani.
This is what Jinhazar would know about the Vistani based on that roll using her feature. You have read about the Vistani in books about demiplanes mostly. There isn't much work published on them, but what you do know is that the Vistani (singular: vistana) are wanderers who live outside civilization, usually travelling about in horse-drawn, barrel-topped wagons called vardos, which they build themselves. They dress in bright colours, are rather flamboyant in nature, laugh often, and drink even more. There's nothing in any books that say where the Vistani originally come from, but that they wonder the planes as interplaner entertainers.
Vistani are silversmiths, coppersmiths, haberdashers, cooks, weavers, musicians, entertainers, storytellers, toolmakers, and horse traders. They also earn money by telling fortunes and selling information. They spend whatever they earn on a lavish lifestyle, display their wealth openly as a sign of prosperity, and share their good fortune with family and friends.
Vistani are seperated into clans, each of them their own gerontocracy, so each one seperate from the others - how you treat one group of Vistani may never be told to another group of their kind.
Vistani families and clans are closely knit. Disupte is usually resolved through contests that end with reconciliatory singing, dancing, and storytelling. Although to the outside world they might be seen as lazy and irresponsible, the Vistani are very serious people, quick to act when their lives or traditions are threatened. They are merciless when they believe they must be. Vistani who knowingly bring harm or misfortune to others of their kind are banished - the worst punishment for a Vistani to receive, even worse than death.
That's what you get from the books you've read etc. :)
Roselina walked with everyone, surprised by the silence but wondered if it was Jinhazar's weird telepathy speak. "We need to find these Vistani as quickly as possible. Come on, let's speed this up." she told everyone as she lead the way, looking for these people. It shouldn't be too hard considering their choice of clothing and the way they have been acting after all.
And so the group head out to the location of the campsite. The evening starts to grow dark, when reaching the campfire there are a dozen men and women gathered around a crackling bonfire. Everyone seems to be in high spirits. A few of them are singing and dancing around the fire, while others are content buried in their flasks and wineskins. You see three barrel-topped wagons parked at odd angles. You also see hitched up to a nearby tree, grazing on the wild grass, are half a dozen draft horses wearing bright coats with bangles and tassels.
As you approach, an old man stands up and starts heading towards the camp's entrance. He seems to be the oldest man here and he steps forward with a smile upon his face.
"Ah, you've finally arrived," he said with a smile, which gets wider as coin purses start to get tossed at his feet. "Madam Eva has never been wrong before, I wasn't going to doubt her now, so, travellers, what brings you to our home, or would you rather see what we have to say first my lady, for we can skip the question for we already know the answer," he says in a voice strained by years of drinking and smoking, bowing politely in Roselina's direction.
