"It will be our rest stop, travelling at night here is more dangerous. We rest here and leave tomorrow," Stanimir answers. "Welcome to Barovia," he says, with a smile.
You notice that the streets seem to be empty, but you can still hear the sobbing travelling through the streets.
You follow the gravel road into the village, the houses towering like dark tombstones. Nestled among these solemn dwellings are a few shops that have been closed up and boarded over. Even the tavern is shut tight.
As you continue you, the sobbing becomes more of a whimper as you see two children standing in the middle of an otherwise completely lifeless street. One of them is a girl of about ten years of age, who seems to be trying to comfort and quiet the boy with her. The boy looks about seven years old, and they both have familiar similarities, suggesting that they are brother and sister.
Looking at the two children, apart from their malnourished faces and greyish white skin, there wasn't anything that made Jlnzahah found peculiar about the children. The girl seems to be trying to comfort the boy, but they both have fearful expressions upon their faces. There's no doubt they're scared.
Roselina had heard Hansen and Vrakvroth, nodding back. "Yes, I know. I won't fall behind." she told them as surprisingly she was able to open the box, surprised to see the small dancer humanoid figure rise out of the box surrounded by mirrors. She noticed the rotating panel where the figurine stands, wondering if this is a music box and why it was laying on the road like that. Roselina continued to follow along with everyone until they arrived at gates flanked by headless statues, the gates opening for them with a screech. As they go through the woods, she shivers from all the heavy mist and the eerie silence before finally getting to a village where there is still silence except for sobbing. Then she heard from Stanimir that they will be resting for the night since traveling at night here is more dangerous, welcoming them to Barovia. Roselina looked around, wondering if all the villagers are sleeping right now and not seeing any upper class establishments so far. She heard Vrakvroth, following him as she could see shops closed up and boarded, even the tavern which is quite surprising, now questioning if this whole village was abandoned. Soon they could see the young boy and girl, the girl trying to comfort the boy as they both looked to be siblings and seem to be scared. "Are you both alright? Are you lost? We can help you look for your parents. Here, maybe this will cheer you up." Roselina had said in a gentle and soothing voice as she walked up, having gotten an idea as she pulled out the box. She opened it up, showing the two kids the figure as she then tried to move the rotating panel in order to get this to possibly work if this is indeed a music box like she thought.
Vrakvroth, seeing that it was children that were the source of the crying, hung back. He knew his dragon features frightened children. He didn't want to make things worse. But something bothered him and he trusted his instincts. Perhaps it was nothing, perhaps not. Better to be sure.
Once again he reached out with his divine senses to detect either good or evil. The children a focus of his concern but the surrounding area also fell under his detection.
When Vrakvroth reactivates his divine sense here, there is nothing that is bought to his attention.
As you continue studying the children, the girl finally shushes the boy enough and looks up at the group of you as you watch them. "Help! There's a monster in our house!" She says and then points to a tall brick row house that has seen better days.
The house the girl points to has dark windows. It has a gated portico on the ground floor, and the rusty gate is just slightly ajar. The houses next to this one are abandoned and have all their windows and doors boarded up.
"I don't know, it just has a terrible howl. Mother and father leave it trapped in the basement. Our little brother is still inside, on the third floor. We're scared it might get out." The boy said. "It's OK, Walter will be OK, Thorn" the girl replies, trying to comfort the little boy with her. "We will find someone who will get rid of the monster for us," she said softly to her brother. Turning to Jodrith the girl continues "We've never seen it, only heard it down below. Our parents always told us to stay away from the basement due to something being down there, so we were never allowed. But now Mother and Father haven't returned and the noises at night have been too much for us," she continues, before turning back and continuing to comfort Thorn.
"Well" Jodrith turns to the group, "We are here to help aren't we? You heard them, there is a child trapped somewhere on the third floor. I'm going in that house, if any of you would care to join me".
Roselina was surprised as the children completely ignored this box before saying that there is a monster in their house, describing it and how their little brother is still inside on the third floor. They had wanted to find someone to get rid of the monster for them and how their parents have not returned from the basement. Then she heard Jodrith and Vrakvroth say that they will help the children. "But aren't we supposed to get rid of the prince's curse? I don't know if we should be taking a detour right now, not knowing how long that will take." she had said, looking back to Stanimir to see what he thinks. With how the Vistani really wanted their prince to be saved, she would assume that he would rather them rest and get ready to continue on in the morning.
As Roselina looks back, the site of Stanimir and the caravan has disappeared and you find yourselves surrounding by the mists of the land - the only visible landmark that of the house pointed out before. The mists seemed to have closed in around the party, leaving a path that led to the front door of the house.
Jinhazar looks over at the children, then to Jodrith, then to the house. He mumbles a few words to himself and strikes the ground with the ferule of his staff. The emblem begins to Light up and he says to Jodrith, in his mind, "The light of Selune shall light the way."
To say that Hansen wasn't frightened would be a complete lie. The children, Stanimir disappearing, and the fog closing in had made his eyes go wide. Seeing the new silent companion cast Light, Hansen decides to cast it as well to give more to see by. His chain rustles as he shifts. The path to the house... he didn't know if he wanted to follow it, but what choice did they have? He didn't want to go into the of either. "I suppose we only have once choice here, eh, lads?" He says with a shaky voice as he walks up the path to the door.
Roselina was shocked as Stanimir and the other Vistani were gone, wondering why the hell they just left them like this. She shivered, feeling really creeped out by all this mist, not seeing anything except the house and a path leading to it. She could see as Hansen and the one man both cast Light, thankful for that until Hansen started walking up the path to the door. "W-Wait up!" she had said, quickly making her way towards Hansen and sticking very close to him as she did not want to be left alone in this mist. This was not how she imagined this journey happening at all, hating this so much right now.
Jodrith looks to the children "There you go young ones, we will go get your brother and deal with your monster if need be. I mean look at me"gesturing to his large form "who do you think should be more scared, us, or the monster that stands in my way?" hoping to give the children a little comfort. Jodrith then turns and begins to approach the house behind those who have already started forward.

You notice that the streets seem to be empty, but you can still hear the sobbing travelling through the streets.
"What is that sobbing that we hear? Is there someone that needs aid? "
Vrakvroth begins to move in the direction that he hears the sounds of crying.

Jodrith will begin to approach the children "Don't be frightened little ones, yes I am quite large but I'm not here to do you harm. Are you hurt?"
JInzahar looks over the children cautiously to see if he notices anything peculiar about them.

Seeing Vrakvroth step back to start to make observations, Jinhazar prayed for Guidance on Vrakvroth.

"What kind of monster? Can you describe it at all? Jodrith tries to gather information in the most nonthreatening posture he can muster up.

Vrakvroth dismounts and ties his horse to fence. He leaves his lance and stands with Jodrith.
"I am with you."
