You approach the front of the house which leads to a gate made of wrought-iron with hinges on one side and a lock on the other that fills the archway of a stone portico. When you look at the gate, it is unlocked and the hinges shriek as you open the gate slowly. Inside the portico there are oil lamps that are hanging from the ceiling of this area by chains, flanking a set of oaken doors that open into a grand foyer.
As you enter, the mists come right up to the gate, before stopping and not entering the house but pushing up against the house.
On the southern wall of the foyer, there is a shield emblazoned with a coat-of-arms. The insignia portrays a stylized golden windmill on a red field. The shield is flanked by framed portraits of stony-faced aristocrats. Apart from the Oak door in, there are a set of mahogany-framed double doors on the east side of the room, both of which set with panes of stained glass.
Having a closer look at the coat of arms, nothing seems out of place around it. Looking at the insignia - it isn't one that seems to represent any from Faerûn, at least that you can remember.
"We should be wary of danger but also we don't have a lot of time to waste if there is someone possibly in trouble." and Jodrith moves to the mahogany framed double doors and checks to see if its locked if not he will open the doors to the next room.
Thinking for a bit, Jinhazar mentally mentions to Jodrith, "My suspicions are true. I don't even recognize this coat-of-arms. This place must be ancient."
Roselina followed everyone toward the house before going inside the foyer, looking out to see all the mist against the house outside as she shivered. She saw the shield with the coat of arms, not recognizing it but she did see the portraits of the aristocrats and wondered if this family has royal lineage even though the house certainly doesn't look like one belonging to a royal family at all. Then she had heard Jodrith, nodding back and agreeing with him. "Yes, let us hurry and find their brother and then get rid of this monster as soon as possible." Roselina had said, wanting to be done with this creepy place and to get this over with quickly so that they may get back to their original mission that they came to Barovia for.
Opening the door to the north, it leads into a wide hall that runs the width of the entire house. There's a black marble fireplace at the north end of the room and opposite on the south end is a large red, sweeping spiral staircase that travels both up and down. Above the fireplace, there is a longsword with a windmill cameo worked into its hilt. The walls are wood-panelled and ornately sculptured with images of vines, flowers, nymphs and satyrs.
To the east are two wooden doors, and an alcove to the south of the two doors. The alcove heads five feet to two more doors - one to the east and one to the south.
Vrakvroth steps in front of the others and draws his sword. The blade easily slides from its scabard with a slight hiss. His yellow eyes take in the room in a single sweep. He points to the stairs. "Up or down first? I say down. We'll see about this beast."
Vrakvroth points to the eastern end of the room. "It looks to me like a large red, sweeping spiral staircase that travels both up and down. I say we go down."
The staircase goes down one floor to a small basement, and up two further floors. As your looking at the stairs, you also notice a second door (other than the main doors that you came through) to the west.
(OOC: Forgot to mention a door, so have added another door here).
"Hansen, can you cast light on my shield? Then I will be able to see if it is dark." After this is done Vrakvroth will lead the way down the stairs, his sword at the ready.
Jinhazar follows Vrakvroth with Light still cast on his staff. He mentally speaks to Jodrith, " We can worry about the baby after we have dealt with the creature."
Roselina was looking all around, noticing the stairs going up and down. She heard the guys talking about going downstairs and was following behind them. "Shouldn't we make sure the child is safe and out of this house first before fighting this monster? With how old and decrepit this house seems, it could fall onto itself while we're fighting whatever that monster is." she had mentioned to the group.
The group heads down the stairs carefully. It curves around into a small stone cellar. Apart from some old broken empty boxes, and cobwebs in the corners of the room, there isn't anything of interest down here. You can hear noises coming from below, though this area has been completely sealed.
"Well there is something in the down direction but this staircase is not how we are going to get there." as Jodrith turns around and heads back upstairs. Once upstairs he's going to head for the eastern door and open it. "We know nothing of this house, better not just rush ahead and possibly leave things to come from behind."

Jinhazar studies and tries to see if he has ever seen this coat-of-arms before.

Godrith looks to acknowledge Vrakvroth "If it's down you wish to go I'll follow but I am worried about the child upstairs."

"Alright lets go see what this so called monster looks like." and Jodrith follows the group heading down the stairs.
