You can't really see through the door well; you can see that there's light behind it, and movement, but the door isn't off its hinges just yet.
Delmon grabs the goblin and returns with him to the room where people are shouting angrily at each other; he seems to be on the verge of fainting again.
These peasants? Nothing. Nothing to me at all. You want them? Then that's the trade. My life for theirs.
You hear movement on the other side of the door; the bar has been opened, and the Redbrand kicks the door. It shudders but doesn't move. Shit. He kicks again, and this time it swings open, and one of the hinges breaks. The door sags, but stays mostly upright.
You see a tall human in his thirties, wearing the familiar red cloak. He is holding a girl, perhaps seventeen or eighteen years old, long brown hair, and an expression of exhaustion and terror on her face. Her clothes are filthy; she's clearly been here for a while and not well treated. The Redbrand has a short dagger at her throat and is looking left and right in anger and alarm. Stay back!
From behind him, a woman's voice calls out: Nilsa! You bastard, don't you dare hurt her! There is a clanging sound, possibly someone banging on metal bars.
PantherNate gazes at the Redbrand, coils his back legs and remains still. He's set to attack immediately if this goes sour and the Redbrand kills the girl. He waits for his comrades to try and talk this nut-job down. Or perform a super cool move to disarm him. All he knew was that PantherNate wasn't going to blow it again, so he remains at the ready.
Delmon moves back, not being good at negotiating he doesn't know what to do in this situation but keep his distance. He keep Droop behind him, shielding him from harm, and looks to the rest of the group in anticipation for the next few actions.
Holding his hands up placatingly Leo backs off from the Redbrand towards the entrance the party had previously come through.
"Easy... easy. Give him space everyone, there's no need to panic." Leo's attempts to adopt a calming tone when he talks.
Upon reaching the door the party had previously come through he goes to open it, "There see, just a small walk and you can be free of this place friend."
Leo will attempt to keep the Redbrand's attention fixed on him the hole time.
((Just to be clear - Leo is attempting to distract the Redbrand and turn him into a position where his back is turned to the party / Nate. Thought it would be a performance check.))
The Redbrand is inching towards the door in the north-west of the crypt room, keeping his back to the wall and his dagger at the girl's throat. His attention does seem largely to be on Leo, but he's only moving if the rest of you are staying out of his way. Stay back, he mutters on a loop, stay back!
PantherNate and Delmon have backed away and seem to be letting him get to the exit.
PantherNate continues to glare at the Redbrand as he inches along the wall with the girl, looking for a split second moment to pounce on him.... but he just can't seem to find the right moment with the Redbrand's back to the wall. He continues to wait.
OOC is there anywhere omnia can get cover and ready her long bow in case it is needed. Perhaps somewhere the redbrand can't quite see but omnia can see what's going on??
There isn't really a good place for getting cover. These are dark, narrow tunnels; you could go back to the first large cavern with the crevasse, but would need a light source (or be completed blinded) and so it would be hard to remain undetected.
Omnia walks into the room with a arrow on her longbow knocked but the string slack and pointing to the floor. However she is alert and ready to let one loose if need be. She circles the room looking for a advantage point.
"Leave the girl, you have won this but only keep your life if you let her go. We will not chase you down, just spare her, okay?" Delmon finally butts in as he is too frustrated to not take action. He still has one arm holding Droop behind him, trying to cover him in case harm comes his way. His maul is still strapped to his back, clearly not looking to start a fight. "Put those weapons down, her life is on the line, we aren't going to gamble it." He says to the group.
OOC: Delmon is being 100% genuine. He does not want the girls blood on his hands. (And not Droop's either for that matter.) He wants the red brand to leave, without the girl.
You all gather together in the crypt, keeping your distance from the Redbrand as he skirts the north wall, and with your weapons drawn but not aimed directly at the man. The girl doesn't scream; she looks terrified and furious at once, but says nothing as she is dragged along.
That's right. That's good. Stay back. The Redbrand moves up through the door to the north, back along the passageway towards the large cavern where the eye monster, and the secret exit to the cave, both lie. I can see you're well armed, and have seen some action tonight. I'm not going to tangle with you. I'll just be leaving now, and he pushes the girl towards you and bolts west away from you.
The girl stumbles, as she is pushed hard, but does not fall to the ground. She stands in the middle of the passageway, her hands immediately going to test her throat, but there is no blood - the Redbrand did not harm her as he ran.
You have the option to give chase, or do something else. What would you like to do?
Brom would go into the room with the prisoners to get them out of their chains or if they're in a cell he would bend the bars to give them room to escape. "we should move quickly now, there could be other redbrand in the manor above no doubt that man would see to giving us away"
if a strength check is needed for freeing the remaining prisoners.
PantherNate will remain in his cat form and will hiss and growl loudly when the Redbrand runs away. It takes all he has to not dart at the man... but seeing Delmon get us out of the mess he wasn't going to just go and get us back into one. PantherNate thinks to himself that he would agree with Brom in that we need to get out of here ASAP since that guy will likely tell others.
PantherNate sees the girl get pushed free but will not go to her... he will let one of the others do the comforting as a big cat might not do so well with that. He will remain at the ready, guarding the north western entrance to the coffin room and basically guarding that hallway in case the Redbrand gets others fast... as the others comfort the girl and check out the other room where the girl was kept.
This long room is partitioned into three areas, with iron bars walling off the north and south. Filthy straw lines the floors of those cells, the hinged doors of which are secured by chains and padlocks. A disheveled human women, older than the one who the Redbrand held at dagger point, is in the cell to the south, while a human boy is confined to the north. Both are dressed in plain gray tunics and have iron collars fitted around their necks. The woman backs away from the goliath, but asks in a fierce voice: Where is my daughter? What have you done to her?
A heap of discarded clothing is piled carelessly against the far wall.
The young woman hesitantly makes a move back towards the room where the other prisoners are held, eyeing all of you warily, especially the large panther.
Brom, the cells both have doors with locks. If you want to try to force them open, make a straight Strength check.
Delmon will help the girl up to her feet. "I'm sorry about your situation but we must move quickly if we are to make the best of it. Come, let us free the others." He leads her into the prisoner's room following Brom.
Leo will attempt to calm the older human woman whilst the rest of the party are freeing the other prisoners, "There, there dear lady. Fear not, we were sent by Harbin to dispose of these Redbrands. Your daughter... Nilsa is it? Is safe and well in the other room."
With that he will attempt to escort her out of the cell, if she permits.
Brom, you shake and pull at the cell door, but it remains in place; you see a large lock on each of the doors.
The woman listens to Leo as he speaks, but takes more notice as the younger woman enters behind Brom. She is still very wary of you all (since none of you have spoken to her!), but the older woman rushes to the corner of the cell and clasps the girl's hands through the bars. From the other cell, the boy calls out, his voice wavering in fear; Harbin Wester? The Townmaster? You're working for him?
