Safe here? replies Sildar. No, I do not think so. They will have heard this battle, I'm sure. And they were expecting you, they've been in a state of agitation for hours. Yeemik and Klarg almost came to blows, arguing about what to do. You made the right choice, of course. Yeemik would have turned on you after you defeated Klarg, he was too stupid to see that you outmatched him. Sildar spits on the dead goblin.
Nate feels quite tired and is basically sapped of all of his magic - but given what Sildar has said he is thinking they might as well give it hell and just head in. Nate will await what the rest of the party does and also arms his two daggers ready to move.
"Maybe we can fall back to the alcove where the wolves was held and take a short rest. We got two good hits in on Yeemik but I'm not sure we can do the same to the bugbear." Brom said but then he started to think, something wasn't adding up. The goblins had a lot of information going into this, they knew where the party would pass through and they left the horses on the road so they could ambush the team so they had to have known that sildar and gundren went ahead. Now Gundren is missing... "sildar how well do you know Gundren?"
Pretty well. He and his brothers are out to make a name for themselves, and that attracts a lot of attention. They're good folk, hardworking. Why do you ask? Sildar frowns as he awaits your answer.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Did anyone else know about the cart of supplies? Excuse my suspicion but these goblins were too well informed. And you said you and Gundren separated at the start right? I doubt he's here seeing how not one goblin knows where he is."
I would like to do an insight check to see if maybe hes having doubts or maybe ideas of any one that could be leaking information.
Well, it wasn't exactly a secret, and carts go between Phandalin and Neverwinter from time to time. There were folks in Neverwinter who knew. Business partners of Gundren. And Barthen in Phandalin, of course. He runs the trading post there. He looks you in the eye for a moment, and then speaks. But were the goblins waiting for us? Us specifically? Perhaps. When we find Gundren, he can tell you more of that. As for that, I know he was with me when we arrived at this damned cave. But I was knocked unconscious for some time - no idea how long. After that, I never saw him.
You can tell that Sildar is very weak and talking as plainly as he can, as he sees it. You get the sense that he's focused on getting himself together to fight in the next battle.
Ophirinn looks to Sildar in his weakened state. "I do not recommend that you try fighting with us in the next room, you could end up being more a hindrance; especially now we don't have the means to help you if you get injured again."
Ophirinn looks over to Nate and Brom with a questioning look. "Do you believe that the goblins and bugbear are going to sit in there waiting hours for us to go in? I do not believe so." Ophirinn gets a look of contemplation. "I believe it best to finish them off now, I will not be able to charm the bugbear so getting information out of it will require it to realise its chances or impossible. What I am getting at is it will probably be best to leave the bugbear till last."
Nate 100% agrees with everything Ophirinn says and then suggests:
"How about we move Sildar to that other small cave where the wolves were chained up. At least he will be safe there until we kill the other goblins. Then, we could try and lure one or two out of that main cave by perhaps making some noise or throwing something in there... it might just lure one or two out so we can act quickly on them and then charge in for the rest. Agreed about keeping the Bugbear until last... we definitely need more information about Gundren."
Sildar scowls. I can fight. He raises his sword arm and winces as a wound in his side seems to pain him greatly. He drops the scimitar and instead walks over to pick up one of the goblins' shortbows, and some arrows. I'm not in good shape, but I'll not abandon my friend. I'll come, but maybe not be on the front line. He grimaces, and tests the shortbow.
Walking forward, with Brom in the lead and Sildar bringing up the rear, you make your way along the tunnel.
Up ahead, you see the flickering light of a campfire and what appears to be a cave. You hear a voice growling, sometimes in common, sometimes in another language which you assume to be goblin. Klarg will smash.... Klarg will rule and break his enemies' bones... All shall bow before Klarg.... It's not clear if the speaker is talking to anyone, or just ranting.
So far, you think you are undetected, as you are about sixty feet from the entrance to the cave. How would you like to proceed?
Yes, you can. Please make a Stealth check and a Perception check. One other person can go with you if they wish, but more than that will incur a penalty to stealth.
"And die he will. Do you think it's safe to rest here for an hour or two? Do they ever come out of that cave?"

Brom nods "alright, again excuse my suspicions. Live a hard enough life you start to question everyone you meet"

"...But afterwards, he needs to die"
See that the team was against a breather Brom nodded "alright, we'll push on." He agreed and readied himself for the up coming fight.
