Leo, Harbin Wester gives a forced smile. Good day to you, master Kae'leon. I apologise for my rudeness, I am having a rather trying day.
The human snorts loudly at this, and then notices Ophirinn and Nate. Ah, and these are the adventurers I spoke to you about, who accompanied me to... He notices Ophirinn's wounds. Gods alive, man. Were you attacked? Who did this?
Brom would raise his hands as a sign of being passive "i know of the bandits known as the red cloaks killed some of their ilk just a few moments ago in front of the inn, Toblen can vouch on my behalf that I'm not a bandit. Also we found the crates in a cave that was home to a group of goblins i believe have been ailing this town" speaking the truth Brom hoped it was enough to persuade the woman that he is not what she thinks he is.
Brom, the woman stares at you suspiciously for a long time, and then says, very slowly, I did hear the sounds of battle just now. Toblen? She walks out the door into the street, though she does not go far. She looks up towards the inn, and sees Sister Garaele tending to the bodies; it's about a hundred feet away, and the Redbrands' red cloaks are visible. She sucks in her breath, walks back into the shop, and regards you.
You have killed them? Six of them? Then you are welcome in my shop. I apologise for the way I spoke. And, it was foolish of me, the Redbrands would not tolerate anyone who is not human in their ranks. This town has been living a nightmare for many weeks. Tell me, will you fight the others, and...
She pauses for a moment. Oh, goodness, you mentioned crates. Well, yes, I was expecting delivery of some goods a week or two ago, and I've no idea of what happened to them. Can you tell me where you found them?
Ophirinn steps into the room "Ah, yes. We had an altercation with the some redcloaks, but you need not concern. We were actually here to let the Townmaster know that we dispatched of 6 of them; thanks to the help of our two new companions." indicating at Leo and Delmon.
"Redcloaks," Delmon butts in, "Redcloaks did this." Delmon extends his hand, "I'm Delmon, came here looking for drink and instead got forced into a situation of bloodshed. Must say, it doesn't leave a good mark on your town when passersby get a chance to experience such.. hospitality. Were we mere common folk you may have had innocent blood on your hands."
"Its alright i know I'm not the most inviting person and with the Red cloaks running things i can understand your suspicions. We found the crates on the way here from Neverwinter in the grass lands just beyond the forest, if you have a map i can mark the general area of the cave the crates are in and i believe we are planning on taking on the red cloaks." Brom forgave the woman glad to be believed and then looked at the various armors and weapons. "My name is Bromduhr by the way you can call me Brom"
Ah, these are the Redbrands you spoke of Townmaster? replies the man who the other party members know as Sildar. What is it you called them? A 'mercenary guild'? A 'nuisance'? It seems to me they are nothing but a gang of murderous scum.
And what, retorts the halfling, his face reddening, do you suppose I do about them? Ask them politely to leave?
Brom, the woman replies, I do not have a map, I'm afraid. And there are many caves and nooks in this region. However, I would lend you a cart to fetch them, or accompany you to the site; if the goods can be recovered, I will happily pay a reward of fifty gold pieces. And my name is Linene Graywind. It's a pleasure to meet someone who will stand against the Redbrands. She looks at you hopefully.
The weapons and armour are well made, but standard - no special metals and nothing magical. You can buy any weapons and armour listed in the Player's Handbook worth 50 gold pieces or less:
"It's a pleasure to meet you miss Linene, if it can't be helped then we can retrieve the crates but i don't know if we can do it right away. My companions and I are looking for someone who goes by the name of Ilarno I'm afraid he went missing and was last seen around the old manor, have you heard anything?"
Ilarno, Iarno, Ianno, something like that, Linene replies. Yes, I remember him. Short fellow, dark hair, beard. He was here a few months ago, but wasn't around for long. If he was poking around the manor, then be careful if you try and follow him. That's where the Redbrands have their base now. We used to dare each other to go down there as kids. It's always attracted dangerous things, if you believe what folks say.
"So that's their strong hold, i was under the impression that it was haunted" Brom gave a rare chuckle before continuing "They could have Ilarno as their prisoner. Thank you for this information, you've been inside the manor right? Anything you can tell me about it, a secrete way in or somthing along those lines?"
Leo, realising that the human in the room might be a tad more important than he originally assumed, looks at Sildar and cracks his most charming smile before turning back to Harbin.
"Worry not noble Townmaster, I believe my newly acquired companions and I might be just the people to have a polite word"[Leo places HEAVY emphasis on the phrase] "with these 'Redbrands'. I've found that Delmon here, has just the right level of politeness to show transgressors the errors of their ways!"
Brom, Linene shakes her head. No secret way in that I ever knew of. We barely made it past the old cellar. I remember a room with a pool, but we only peeked inside before running. My friend got so shared she couldn't sleep for days. It was more fun to tease her than to admit we'd all been just as scared. I can't really say why - it's just some old, empty rooms I suppose.
Leo, Harbin Wester seems hesitant. We don't want trouble with the Redbrands. They're trouble, I admit, but they mostly leave us alone.
Nonsense, says Sildar firmly, drawing an angry scowl from Wester. The presence of a town controlled by a bandit gang will not be tolerated, Harbin. You know this very well. The group that can rid this town of their menace will be rewarded with a hundred gold pieces. Oh, and that reminds me, the funds Wester, if you will. The halfling and human glare at each other for a good long while, and then the halfling sighs and retreats into a back room. Sildar folds his arms and looks you all over. So, you are now all working together, is that the way of it?
Brom would nod to Linene "thank you for all your help" he said with a friendly glint in his eye "i can ask my group if they are up for retrieving the shipment" he said before bidding her farewell and went to join the others in the townmaster's office.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Leo returns Delmon's look and nods his head slightly, "I would say, based on recent events, that we compliment each other. I should have thought that every able hand is needed if we are to look into this Redbrand threat."
Leo also attempts to read the reactions of his newly acquired companions.
Insight: 7
((OOC: Not sure whether to roll at all, I don't think Leo would be looking for much insight into the others... just a vague idea of whether they believe teaming up to be a good idea!))
(Ooc wow this is going quickly take it you are all pretty much in the same time zones as each other I am still here but got to work out what omnia is doing while all of this is going on lol)

I'll go with persuasion.

Yeah Nate will also head into the main office. Once he sees Sildar (assuming that's him), he will walk over to him.
"You missed all the fun. Also, this Elf and Dwarf helped us. Any word about Ilarno?"
