Nate, you find a total of 33 copper pieces and 18 silver pieces on the goblins. Their weapons are usable, but old, battered and in generally poor condition. You find two scimitars and two shortbows, along with 5 arrows.
Ophirinn looks to the new member of the party, "It is good to make your acquaintance, my name is Ophirinn." He then looks to Idalie, "I think it would be safest if we set up camp away from the road. Then later we can search for our patrons, but I can see what I can do about these wounds now so we set out in search now; as time could be running out for them." Ophirinn suggests with a look of grimace on his face.
Nate splits up the coins and distributes to the party.
“Any of you want these weapons?”
(OOC: How many silver and copper each is that? Also, is Omnia getting a share? Please make sure you add your gold to your character sheet. It's easy to forget... )
"you guys did the work on this one share it amongst yourselves. I think setting up camp is a good idea I will go and get firewood and see if I can spot some game for food. Is there anything on this cart we can use?"
After killing the goblin, Idalie falls back against the cart. Letting the others finish off the final attacker and see to searching both the bodies and the road as she sets about seeing to her wound. Thankful the arrow was a through in and through, the head pointed rather than barbed. Could've been nasty otherwise. She snaps the head and is working up the will to pull out the shaft when Nate calls out to someone coming down the road. "Omnia!" The gnome's face lights up in a grin despite the pain she's in. "You made it." Gaze going to Ophirinn, Idalie waves away his offer of help.
"That's alright." She assures him. "I can heal myself." She pulled the shaft out then. Inhaling sharply before casting a quick Cure Wounds on herself. Grateful she took the time to learn the new spell before they took this job.

"I do think you have a point though." She said, watching as the magic sealed her wound. "Grunden might be in trouble."
It's early afternoon. You could take a short rest and continue on afterwards. You could take a long rest now, and wake during the night. Or you could do some foraging for food and then take a long rest overnight, to wake in the morning. It's up to you.
If you're foraging for firewood or food, let me know and give me a survival check.
Omnia, you spend about an hour foraging, and you find plenty of suitable firewood and kindling. It's not quite as easy as you thought; there's been decent rainfall in recent weeks and a lot of the wood is damp, but you find enough for a campfire - for two, in fact, so you store the extra in the supply wagon.
OOC - does Omnia need a long rest to fix her exhaustion?
If she does, I suggest we take a long rest here.
“Nonsense Omnia, here’s your share.”
Nate gives 5 copper to each of his comrades, and 4 silver to each of them as well. He takes 3 for himself.
”These horses have been dead for awhile - I think we should set up camp with the wood Omnia found and recoup our strength because I feel this is going to be quite the battle given what they’ve done with those two. Unfortunately I don’t think time matters much. I figure they’re both dead already anyway. Let’s set up camp in the woods like the Dragonfellow said”
(OOC: Yes, Omnia needs either a long rest, or some powerful healing magic (more powerful than you have) to recover from exhaustion.)
Nate, as you look into the forest, you can see that it will be difficult, and a bit slow, to get the supply wagon off the trail and into the forest. You can do it though, but if you go deep it will become impossible.
“Brom, want to help me move this wagon into the woods off the road?”
”of course if you guys think we should just take a quick rest and then follow those drag marks I’m good with that too I just think Omnia needs the long rest”
Nate then casts Speak with Animals and starts to talk to the oxen about nothing particular except what it’s like being an ox while he waits for his comrades to decide what’s next.
Nate, the oxen are quite chatty, but it's mostly about food - what they ate yesterday, what they ate this morning, what they're hoping to eat tonight. They think that being an ox is quite pleasant, and would definitely not want to be one of the two legged creatures that spend all their time running around in all directions.
They don't want to try to go through the forest while attached to the wagon, because they think the wagon will get stuck. But they do like the idea of stopping off somewhere they can graze for a bit.
Nate will continue making small talk with them and befriend them in case we decide to camp here for the rest of the afternoon / evening for a nice early morning wake up and go. He figures they will now be more than happy to let Nate un-attach them after this talk if need be and also hopefully happy to be re-attached without struggle.
"A short rest would be nice would give us the time to think of a plan, if those tracks lead to a camp or strong hold we'll need one" Brom suggested "And of course I'll help let's get the ox loose." He said and pat the large creature on the flank.
Together, Brom and Nate manage to persuade the oxen to move a little way into the woods to the north, far enough that the wagon won't be visible by people passing on the Triboar Trail. The party then rests for a short time.
(A short rest takes an hour; if you're injured, you can roll hit dice and recover, but you don't recover druid, cleric or ranger spell slots. Check with me if you're not sure which other abilities reset, but DnDBeyond is usually good about doing it automatically. You'll need to roll hit die here, though.)
It's the middle of the afternoon as you finish your short rest; during the rest you have the option to chat and decide what you want to do next.
Nate gives Brom a thankful smile as they both manage to get the wagon moved out of sight from the trail. Nate still feels scared of Brom given his physical stature and also what he's seen him do with his hand axe... not to mention his warhammer. But he is definitely coming around the more he interacts with him.
Nate will use the hour to sit by himself (big suprise!) and close his eyes and meditate with nature, specifically the beautiful trees that surround the party. He will use 'Natural Recovery' which he gained with his Druid Circle of the Land (Forest) affiliation to recover the Speak with Animals spell that he just used.
Starting at 2nd level, you can regain some of your magical energy by sitting in meditation and communing with nature. During a short rest, you choose expended spell slots to recover. The spell slots can have a combined level that is equal to or less than half your druid level (rounded up), and none of the slots can be 6th level or higher. You can’t use this feature again until you finish a long rest
Once his meditation is complete, he will look to his comrades to see what they want to do.
"I am still concerned about Omnia. Look at her over there. She looks exhausted. Are we going to venture forth and follow those drag marks right now, or shall we take some time to get some food and set up a nice camp for the night?"
Nate looks in a kind of annoying / impatient way to the party to gauge how they are feeling.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ophirinn watches as the group does their thing, then finds a spot to sit and focus on recovering.
Hit Die: 3
Ophirinn looks over at Nate as he address the issue at hand. "I can empathise with your concerns, but if there is a chance that our patrons are still alive it is our duty to rescue them!" Ophirinn exclaims with a grumble.
Nate sees Ophirinn’s point. Although he feels no attachment to Gundren and Sildar at this point other than the pay we were promised, he admires Ophirinn’s honorable idea.
“Shall we follow those drag marks then? I’ll stay close to Omnia as she still looks exhausted.”
OOC - is there room on the drag marks path for our wagon and the oxen to come with us? If so, Nate will coax the oxen to move to the path. If not, he will suggest that we tie the animals up because we will probably need them to get this wagon back to Phandalin after we are done checking this out.
Nate walks back to the road and takes a look at where the drag marks lead. A short way into the woods, there is a trail, moderately used and also camouflaged so it can't be seen from the road. It's narrow and overgrown; there's no way the wagon could follow it.
If you decide to follow this narrow trail northwards, then please give me a marching order, in single file:
First: Second: Third: Fourth: Fifth:
Whoever is going first should give me a Perception check. You are, of course, free to discuss and do other things if you wish.
(I will always assume you are in this marching order until and unless you tell me otherwise. :) )
