Horkohm squeezes past Ash and heads towards the door on the Left, positioning himself so he can look into the room behind it as well as down the corridor, waiting for the others to take up positions as well

as the light shines trough the room Marsilius notices the pedestal with the book and the sphere "this might be interesting.. but first.. " he closes the registry on the table and picks it up, putting it in his backpack. Then he approaches the pedestal, trying to get a better look at the contents of the book and maybe a chance to examine the strange orb.
The book is apparently a pretty detailed explanation of the invention of Power Pylons, the technology that allows ships to fly. The page reads:
... The metal scaffolding itself is nothing special, being constructed of iron or any other abundant metal present near the workshops. However the process of creating the containment field for the magic energy is long and complicated and requires at least five wizards working together casting warding spells for three days. Then an inlet is built at the base of the pylon, usually to be fit into the ground. This device slowly absorbs the magical energy around it compressing it into the main container. An outlet on the very top focuses the stream of magic that is drawn to nearby receivers, allowing only a small amount of energy to go out and reach the air ships. The receivers must be within 2000 meters to be able to catch the magical flux. ...
and there is a rough sketch of such pylon with arrows and notes pointing at the different parts.
As for the glass sphere, you can see it's of superb quality, perfectly round and without imperfection, but other than that, you have no idea what it could be.
Ash moves in the bedroom straight ahead and gets closer to the chest, opening it carefully.
Perception: 11
Ash:
The room is a mess, signs of struggle are evident in every corner. The bed sheets are all over the place, most likely because Gerden was asleep when he got attacked, there's a bottle of ink on the floor and the content spilled all over the small table beside the bed. Pieces of glass from the shattered window litter the floor. You move carefully towards the big chest that's in front of you and open it. The hinges squeak softly as your light reveal the content.. mostly clothes and bed linen.
However something catches your attention. A small piece of parchment is crumpled on the floor beside the chest. You carefully open it. Blotches of ink stain most of it, but you can read the following hastily written words:
With no shouts of alarm or commotion coming from his other compatriots after they have entered their respective rooms, the dwarf turns his eyes warily to the door and descending stairs to his right. Keeping his eyes fixed ahead, he quietly draws his thick blade and steps further into the dim light. As he covers the last few steps, he quickly flashes his falchion forward... "Aha!"... and points the tip down into the gloom. His eyes adjust quickly and he takes stock of what he can see. (Perception: 21)
You point your falchion forward towards the darkness of the stairs and....
"swooosshhh" a faint breeze makes some dry leaves tumble and rustle in front of your feet, the dead silence of the night amplifying every single little noise you and your companions produce.
You see a door at the bottom of the stairs. It's closed. Your keen ears cannot pick up any noise coming from there.
A quick look at the remaining room, reveals it to be the bathroom, with a big tub placed right at the entrance.
"Huh". He peers down to the closed door, his curiosity immediately starting to niggle at him. His voices booms into the silence, calling mainly to Horkohm. "I'm going down to the cellar, if I'm not back in a bit, pay for my burial."
The stairs creak a little with his weight, and he reaches out to try the door, ready to peer beyond.
The ginger bearded dwarf looks around the small cellar coughing slightly from the motes of ancient decay in the air. "Hmmm, not much here 'cept that" he chuckles to himself and his sense of humour. "I suppose it would be best to check that this person's belongings remain safe and intact." He walks forward and gingerly taps the side of the chest with the bottom of his axe haft. Perception:8
<<If nothing happens>>
With the silence in the room this ringing in his ears, he leans forward and lifts the lid.
Ash sighs, stroking his neatly cropped beard as he reads the note he then walks out of the room and calls out in a slightly raised voice "Has anyone found anything?"
Before waiting for a reply he explains "There was a note here on the floor, it looks like this place is empty and we need to head south-west. There was definitely a struggle but nothing here that I can see"
Horkohm grumbles. "Since when are Goblins leaving notes? Is there anything else on that note? Haven't seen anything else up here really apart from a looted kitchen..."

after contemplating the sphere the man moves his attention to the pedestal, spending some time looking for any contraption or mechanism that may be in place to guard the object (perception: 6 )
You check the pedestal for any sign of a trap, but find none. Quietly you pick up the small sphere and put it in your pocket.
If during the next short rest you concentrate on the item while holding it, you learn of its magical properties. When that happens you can read the item description here:
"Nice, I don't have a clue about what this thing is, but I'm taking it!" Thinks Marsilius quickly turning on his heel and heading back into the corridor. Then he starts heading north. (towards the room where Ash is)

Horkohm:
moving past the door on the left you glimpse what appears to be the kitchen. Like the dining room, it's in a messy state.

The door opens without any resistance, and beyond you see a tiny basement full of dust and webs, and a single big chest on the opposite wall.
"Realizing that his coordinated breach of the Rooms somewhat failed Horkohm sighs and pushes forward into the Room in front of him"
Horkohm:
In front of you is the kitchen of the house, clearly sacked of anything edible (and probably even something that wasn't).

Nothing happens when you tap the chest with your axe, so you proceed to open the lid.
The chest opens smoothly without any sound. Inside, you find a bunch of items neatly organized:
