Merrix looked apologetic. The Halfling could complicate things. His instincts told him to run, but there was something about the nonchalance of the halfling that made him curious.
« Please Milo, stay. Tell me what you do? », as he motioned for the halfling to sit down next to the group of students. To the warforged, he added « Let me repeat Milo’s question- is there anything you require? I have to be honest I don’t know if warforged enjoy drink or need food as we do... I’m sorry, I’m rambling... please, take a seat. »

Tarian sheathed her knife. “You look half-dead, sergeant,” she started, pulling off her cloak. “Or like you just punched the reaper and ran.” She wrapped her cloak around his shoulders. “Until we get out of the streets, you’re not you, you’re just some nobody. A crook I captured.” She placed one hand on the back of his head and the other on the hilt of her sword. “Walk like you’ve been caught.”
Tarian peered out into the streets. He probably doesn’t have a safe house. If he did, he wouldn’t have met me at the White Maid. If he knows how to get to me, maybe “they” do, too. There probably isn’t time for a whole lot. I’d better get my things and warn Elise.
“We should head to my place. I’ve gotta get my things and apologize to the landlady for any visitors she might be getting because of us.”

Brandt takes the money pouch and ties it to his belt as he exits. Once he's away from the building, he wipes his hand on one of the buildings to get the residue from the butcher off of it. These hands certainly aren't clean, but making contact with that butcher for even a second makes them dirtier than they ever were. He heads towards a tavern in a different part of town, looking for somewhere to spend the day before having to head back to the Confederation building tomorrow.

Making her way back to her small apartment with Marcellus in tow, she was feeling as though his paranoia started affecting her.
As she kept walking along the roads, she spotted two separate patrols of Broad Street Agents, paid thugs and « investigators » who were hired to keep the peace around here. Seeing them at night wasn’t unusual, but seeing them out with a dog and with proper city guards certainly raised alarm bells. They weren’t spotted yet, but then could she be sure that they were looking for the sergeant?

Girlands of red paper lanterns carrying eastern signs illuminated the facade of the three-story building in a warm hue. Tarian had to warn Marcellus of the dangers, but she also recognized her own weaknesses. I’d be jangling like a noble’s coin purse if we ran. No, it’d be better to just keep the current strategy. Act like this is exactly what we’re supposed to be doing. Elise’s isn’t too much farther.
“Sergeant, the patrols are out in full force tonight. City watch is down here in the Docklands, with dogs. If we run, there’ll be no escaping them. Stay calm. Hopefully they have nothing to do with us.”
She could feel the tension mounting in Marcellus’s body. The fight-or-flight response, with him already paranoid, was ready to shoot him off in one direction or another.
“You came to me because you thought I could do something. Stay with me and let me do it.”
Corti smiled at the halfling, oblivious to Merrix's nervousness, "Yes, please take a seat". She was intrigued by Milo. She had met a good portion of the musicians as well as the general music aficionados who hung around the Forge, but this halfling was new. It was always good to meet new people. "It's nice to meet you both! I'm Corti. And thank you for the offer, but you're right, there's no point me eating."
Entering the building, Brandt was surprised to find just how spacious the inside was. In the middle of the room, a good dozen gaming tables had been set up, with patrons around playing cards or laying tiles. By the piles of coins on the green felt, many a client here would leave penniless.
The back of the room is taken up by a stage, on which a slender elven woman wrapped in veils was performing a sensual and seductive dance to the sound of woodpipes and a mandolin.
To the right, Brandt found what he was looking for- an elegant pine bar, with several human, half-elf and elven women serving colourful drinks in elegant glasses.
The elven woman Brandt speaks to flashes him a coy smile and simply replies: « That entirely depends if you’re looking for company, handsome. »

The sergeant relaxed at Tarian’s words and carried on walking through the winding roads. After rounding a corner however, Tarian suddenly found herself confronted by a patrol.
“Oi! You there, halt!” Knowing that running would make their situation worse, Tarian stood still, praying that the Sergeant could keep his cool.
The nightwatchmen approached her, torch in hand. “I recognise this man with you. His name is Thomas Reed, and he escaped from the Duskrock Asylum for the Deranged. We’re glad you found him, he’s dangerous. He killed a warden and critically injured another during his flight.”

His social awkwardness from barging into the conversation has melted away, speaking confidently to the group.
