Brandt waves back towards the student. "Are you here for target practice too? I'm not exactly in the business of working as a teacher, but if you give me some gold, I can at least see what I'm working with."
Milo puts his hand Mei Ling’s elbow. “Good, that’s why I’m glad we are having these conversations now. Reading and writing should be at the forefront, absolutely. Like you mentioned though that might take some time to get organized. If there is a way we could vet some respectable craftsman somewhere down the line for the older of the youths; as a transition to the workforce if they want. But that’s secondary to the task at hand. Would you have any plans or recommendations on how you would like these things become a reality.”
Arc takes in Tarian's whispers with a stoic nod, but his mind already started to race, however, before e could inquire any further, Sylvia spoke. Giving the poor woman a smile, he nods his head understandingly, "Of course Mrs. Krull. No need for thanks, and I understand the dislike of charity, but take your time to decided upon your future." He stands himself up, "As I stated before, I wish you safe passage home." He looks to Tarian and pulls out a bag with 20 GP, "Mrs. Tarian, may I ask that you escort the lady back to her family?" He passes the bag to Tarian, regardless of her answer.
Tarian opened the coin pouch and pulled a single gold coin from it, then cinched the bag shut and handed it back to Arc. “A half-day’s guard duty is one gold, Mister Cannith. As escorting Missus Krull will be less than that, so will my fee.” She pulled out her own coin pouch and placed the gold piece inside. She fished for silver and noticed the locket still there in her pouch. Her brows furrowed and her fingers stopped for but a moment, then she pulled out five silver pieces and offered them to Arc.
“Regarding the other fees, your—” Tarian clenched her jaw, and swallowed her pride, “—insights in this case were worth several gold, as you said, and… the remainder has been paid by another party. I hope my services have been… satisfactory.” She bowed slightly.
Still, this case has been a net loss, Tarian thought to herself. I lost a crossbow on this mission. Replacing it will probably run me about twenty-five gold. Figuring in what I made and what I spent, plus what I’d have to spend to replace the crossbow, it’s a net loss of just over ten gold or so. I’d have to count, but I don’t think I have enough to replace it and still have enough for room and board, even for a day. No time for personal work investigating the locket for now, I have to take on another job to replace what I’ve lost. Such is the fate of a freelancer, I suppose.

Arc gives a very, surprised look to Tarian. but after a moment smiles, "You were definitely one of the most offensive people I've met, but regardless, you went above and beyond to complete your task. You have not only my satisfaction, but my thanks." He nods at the large woman, "Once you finish escorting Mrs. Krull here, feel free to return at your earliest convivence, I might actually have another task that I would love to have you on. If not, I can at least offer you a place to sleep for a job well done."
Tarian nodded. Hold your tongue, Tarian. Mister Cannith is paying to be the hero, so you can’t say anything in front of Missus Krull.
“As you wish, Mister Cannith. I must meet with another client this evening, so any job you’re offering may have to wait until tomorrow, if that is acceptable.”
Tarian stepped over to Sylvia and offered her a hand. “I know I may be asking a lot, but please bear with me a little longer. We have quite a bit of walking and carriage-taking to do yet to get you home.”

Corti nods as the two speak, "That's alright, I'm happy that those who are at home are using the opportunity to get a little family time. And I'm happy that you all are here..." Corti trails off and looks around at the small crowd, now addressing them as a whole, "Here, how about this. We'll hang around here today. Do whatever you want to in this area, I'll let you know if we're going to chant or sing." She stops talking for a moment, noticing the worker's feelings of directionlessness. "I know that it may seem pointless right now. I know you feel that so few of you standing around while your representatives are in meetings is useless, but I swear to you that it is not. You all are here for your rights, just as much as Mark and Mei. They are currently working behind the scenes, you are showing your cause to the people of Duskrock. Today you are not only here for yourselves, but also for your peers, your friends, and your coworkers, so stand strong and keep your chins up, because nothing will be accomplished if the citizens don't know your plight."
Corti will lead a round of the working song before letting the assembled workers relax around the area outside the factory. She would start up games of cards with the workers in between songs and cheers, which she leads every quarter-hour or so. Her main goal is just to support the workers, spreading the message is secondary.

Where one thing ends, another begins. Mrs. Krull had been found, but now he had to wonder about ideas for either a prosthetic, or a experimental, and untested, cybernetic replacement. There is always more to do, and never enough to do it with....so be it.
The ride home was a quiet one. Sylvia was clearly still processing the events of the past few hours, in particular Mr Cannith’s offer. Tarian didn’t feel like making conversation herself, and she spent the half hour or so in contemplation herself. The case was resolved, yet something didn’t quite feel right. Even if there was more to John Krull’s past than he let on, the timing of his wife’s abduction was too opportune, particularly given that Silversmile -she’d never forget the balls on Milo for that- had already known about the Krulls for a while. His release of her too was unusual. Still she’d been paid, and she wasn’t in the business of working pro bono.
Once arrived at the tenement building, the two women stepped out of the cab, onto the dirty pavement. Looking up at the building and then to Tarian, Sylvia timidly asked: “You know, don’t you? That’s why you knew where to go?”

Thia was mid trot heading towards Alexis when she spotted the mercenary waving in her direction. She’d stop just after she passed the human as he was speaking at her, then back peddled until she was beside him. She’d take a look over her shoulder to see if there was any one behind her, then look back to the human, tilting her head in confusion. Thia pointed to herself, “Me?” She’d blink at him.
Thia always hid her crossbow under her jacket as to not draw attention, so she became a little suspicious that he was asking about target practice when she’d believe he’d have no reason to assume she was carrying. She’d look him up and down, and then his companion. “I’m here to meet with a different teacher.” She’d nod in the direction of Alexis behind him. Eyeing up the mercenary's gear, she’d ponder a moment before speaking, “I’m not one to turn down learning experiences, regardless of who it’s from.” Unable to be rude, Thia would reach a hand out to the male to formally introduce herself, “I’m Thia by the way. There are things I’m sure I’d be interested in learning from you...” she’d eye up his companion then look back to him, “Maybe not the same things as your current student though.”
A smile comes across the face of Milo “Splendid, I’ll be happy to work with you to make a better tomorrow. Is there any other need I can attend to before I leave to let our associate Sparks know?”
