Thia would snap back into focus after looking around the area, realizing the quarterorc was speaking to her. “Oh! Hello.” She’d bow her head politely in greeting. “My name is Thia, pleasure to meet you.”
Corti waits until Thia has finished her introduction, "It's good to see you again, Mr. Bellows! I hope everything's been alright around here? Thia and I were hoping that you'd heard something from Leo or Merrix. We're worried about them, and Thia says that Leo has moved out of his dorm room. Have they checked in at all?" Corti's voice stays at its usual, unchanging pitch, but she works an element of worry into her expression.

Getting news about any new ships in the Docks is a very peculiar ritual. It seems to have been agreed by social custom, that it is not the done thing to just ask outright. Instead, upon entering a sailor's bar, a casual conversation about destinations would be struck up, and after a pitcher or two of ale, one would figure who at the table arrived on the most recent vessels. The bars were usually a pretty good reflection of their clientele: dirty, rough, and simple. Most places sold one or two types of drink and one or two types of meal. If you weren't happy, you were welcome to head on out. Music was not something that was provided, as crews would often decide to sing spontaneously, when they had drunk enough. Barfights were a common occurence, but they only turned viscious at the beginning of a new month, when the job listings for hired crew would be announced throughout the docklands. Otherwise they'd usually just be harmless scuffles. It did mean however that most barkeeps kept a weapon or three around the bar somewhere.
Tarian was rather frustrated with this way of doing things, not least of all since the pitchers of ale would often have to come from her pay. But doing things this way meant that her inquiry wouldn't draw any suspicion, and she'd hear additional pieces of news she might not even had known to ask for.
After about half an hour of hearing a fisher tell a rather incredulous story of how he caught a hammerhead shark almost the size of his boat, and trying to coax some information from two very gruff northern whalers, she hears the low grumble of a northern goliath shipright: "Most pyeople trry to avoid ze North Seas. Since ze rebellions, many harrbours arre not syecure anymorre. Tarian chatted with the shipwright a bit longer, suggesting a few different types of berries, melons, and citrus fruits to help with the scurvy. Ultimately, while less helpful than she’d hoped, the information she gathered was about what she expected. Her purse now several silver lighter from buying others’ drinks and her own meal, she moved on toward the Hermit’s Bushel to see if Thorbek was still available for information.
The Souk was a mix at this time of day, with some shops open and some shops closed. Some, Tarian knew, looked closed, but operated illicit businesses quietly, and only if you knew how to get in. The reputation of the Souk to find whatever you needed was well earned. Tarian had not yet been to the Hermit’s Bushel during this time of day, so whether Thorbek would be open—and what kind of business he ran if he was—she had yet to learn.

From cafes and bars that were thickly clouded in dreamroot smoke, to shady dealers selling all types of elixirs and gear at incredibly low prices, to, unfortunately also, some rather unfortunate Cyrean women all dressed up offering their "services", for what Tarian could only assume was not nearly enough to make rent in the Souk. Approached several times by different traders about wanting their particular service at this hour, Tarian heads as quickly as possible to the Hermit's Bushel.
