Returning to the first room, Harmony opens the door across from the wooden stairway. Beyond lies a narrow hallway, intersected further ahead by a long corridor.
"Those goblins didn't make me feel to great either, Olive. Good thing Harmony was able to woo them with her magic."
Jove heads down the hallway, being cautious of traps, and checks left and right, then relays the result to the others. If he is attacked, he will run back behind his friends, disengaging if possible.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Aisha nods, hearing that it might be best for someone who pays attention to scout ahead, Making sure Tsavi was in the lead, with Aisha following close behind, to prevent Tsavi from potentially gettign trapped behind her if somehow combat should start. Tsavi and Aisha make a decent team, as they shift back and forth, going forward, *slowly* each of them checking for some trap stone, tripwires, or other such devices. ((OOC -Not sure what or how you'd want me to roll this, whether they're assisting each other, or if only one can roll. Also Aisha's passive PER is 19.))
She would continue doing this until she reached the intersecting corridor. There, if nothing else happened, she would pause, and take advantage of her darkvision, if needed, Scanning further down the narrow hallway, if there was any of it left. Then to the 'left' corridor, and then the 'right' corridor using the way Aisha is facing in the hallway as 'north.'
Based on what she see's will determine where she tries to lead the party. Aisha will be looking for something signifying passage as recently as possible. (Investigation: 6)
If she finds none.... She will spin an arrow on her finger 1-50 she chooses left, 51-100 she chooses right, and heads down that way, though waiting for the party to near, before once more scanning for traps, and signs of passage.
Harmony had opened up the door, seeing the hallway and the corridor when she heard Olive. "Oh, really? I didn't see or feel anything, but it's good that we got out of there then." Harmony then said back to her and Jove. She would watch Jove and soon Aisha and Tsavi were scouting the paths ahead, waiting for their go-ahead to come up. Though if nothing happens, she will go up anyways and get close to her fellow friends in case anything happens, following along behind them.
Hanging vines line the walls of the corridor, which leads to all sorts of different doorways; all wooden, and all closed, none of them show more recent signs of use than any of the others. The 10-foot-wide corridor stretches 60 feet to the east, and features eight doors. Aside from the hallway you have entered through, there is a narrow hallway to the south with doors at the north, northeast, southeast, and south. Three more doors lie at the end of the corridor to the northeast, east, and south.
Exploring the corridor, Aisha and Jove note a number of insect nests. This corridor is not likely oft-traveled, though there are no signs of lizards, mammals, or birds. In addition, there is a purple and grey colored moss that lines the walls beneath the vines that you have not seen before in this area.
A growl from T'savi shows the panther stopped before a peculiar formation in the stone floor; a square section of the floor designed to crumble away into a pit. The trap is easily circumnavigated.
Harmony would have followed Jove and Aisha since nothing seemed to be happening after they left, no strange noises or screams or anything. She was very surprised to see the vines and all of the different doors down this corridor and even more further along. It's no wonder why the wizards must still be here, they must have gotten lost with so many rooms one could go into really. But then she heard Tsavi growl and stop before they got to a formation on the floor, the section looking like it would crumble away, so thankful for Aisha and Tsavi being with them. She also just noticed all the purple and grey colored moss lining the walls beneath the vines, never having seen such pretty moss before since it's usually just green. Harmony was incredibly curious of this as she reached out and touched the colorful moss, wondering if it feels like normal moss or not.
The moss does feel normal to Harmony, and she seems to suffer no ill effect from the touch.
For Olive:
Your dizziness has ended and your DEX score has returned to its normal amount.
For Abraxas and Jove:
You can breathe normally again, having entered this room.
Tracking: Aside from the hallway you have entered through, there is a narrow hallway to the south with doors at the north, northeast, southeast, and south. Three more doors lie at the end of the corridor to the northeast, east, and south.
Jove takes in a deep breath. "Phew what a relief. Fresh air. Does anyone have any opposition to the left hand rule? We trace along the left side of the wall, that way we can't get lost in this maze."
OOC: I am finally back in the country. Sorry to have been gone so long.
Abraxas snorts, clearing all the mucus from his sinus passages. He spits a wad of snot on the left wall. "Sorry, my friends. It smelled so bad I could taste it." He begins fumbling through his shoulder bags. Vials of ink clink together. "It might be wise to mark the walls with some of my ink. Not the good stuff, of course."
Unless there is an objection, Abraxas will take a cloth and pour a black spot on it. He'll then uses the ink-stained cloth to smudge the left wall closest to him, following Jove as they move through the maze.
Harmony felt as it was just normal moss, still wondering why it's so colorful then. She heard Jove and Abraxas, agreeing with both of them. "Oh, that sounds like a smart thing to do!" she would say back to them, nodding and smiling. She would place her hand on the left side, careful not to touch the ink Abraxas was leaving, doing swirls and zigzags while following behind everyone else.
OOC: Welcome back! No objections to Jove, so left it is.
Jove leads the party along the left hand wall, circumnavigating the trapped area of the corridor and opening the northeast door while Abraxas marks the wall. Beyond, any light from outside ends, and it is pitch black beyond, rendering Olive effectively blinded while in this room.
The others see a 30-by-40-foot room with three sets of tables and chairs. The stench is awful, and the remains of half-eaten rats lie scattered everywhere within. Papers and parchment are scattered over the tables, and a weathered bookshelf is in a corner of the room. There is one other wooden door in this room that is currently closed, along the same wall as the door you've entered through.
Jove commands Caiphon to turn visible and shapeshift into a bat. He hands Caiphon to Olive. "He may feel slimy, but he can see down here. He can guide you around the room to avoid any traps." If Olive accepts the offer, he commands Caiphon to be her "seeing-eye-bat" until we get back to a lighted room, guiding her around tables and other obstacles.
(OOC: I am retroactively assuming what Abraxas will do, so if he does something different, just ignore this section. lol.) I am assuming Abraxas will check out the papers and such. Jove will read anything in a different language for him. Perhaps this counts as the help action for what he wants to do?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Abraxas does indeed head toward the papers and the bookshelf! He will share whatever he finds with Jove, waiting for translations.
Abraxas tries to guess what types of creatures use this room. He considers the history he has read: 8. Are the half-eaten rats on the floor or abandoned plates?
He's also mindful of the noise, careful not to be too loud, and tries to keep an eye on the door.
OOC: Caiphon can lead Olive around for the sake of navigating, but that will not be possible if combat ensues.
For Abraxas:
The rats are lying on the floor. On Toril, goblins are known to feast on rats in this manner inside of their dens and hovels.
The papers scattered on the tables are written in Common, though Abraxas practically still needs Jove's translations, as bad as the writing is. The writing is done by more than one hand, and seems to be a crude journal or diary. Most of the pages are rantings about boredom, though one does grab attention:
Went with Wiezz again today to the forest. We guard nothing for so long, need to do something. Owlbears easy to make angry and wreckless, we just take their cub and they prowl woods angry. Plus, Srold thinks if we do it enough it bring someone to take, and maybe we have fun again.
The bookshelf contains scrolls written by a more cautious hand, also in Common. Among ledgers and records, Abraxas finds a scroll that reads, in part:
We took down a hydra yesterday. Jiazirm still claims that they are simply attracted to the methane, but his lack of worry holds no ground. This is the third creature in five days from Vandyr. Are the others that far along? How could these creatures be here, away from the moon, otherwise? Are our brethren even ready, or will we fail Impag?
OOC: Yes, Caiphon would never work in combat, he is more flighty than fighty, lol. I'm more than happy to just navigate. I am kind of stumped on what to do next. Others are more than welcome to take the lead :)
Jove says, "I think that is a good idea, Harmony. Maybe this time, Aisha or someone else attentive could take a peek inside before we rush in?"
