Aisha nods at Abraxis, only for Mitsi and Oli to return but moments later. A wry chuckle escaping, but remaining silent, as to not be a hindrance to the people who were very likely to be her companions soon, as that was the only way she could see gettign back to her home. Besides... There was knowledge to be had here.... And her previous frustrations were now gone and abated. Like most tabaxi, she was a creature of whimsy, and flitting interest. And thus, didn't hold grudges for long, especially in the face of the possibilities to come.
To Mitsi, when done, however, Aisha interjects How long is temporary? Until we complete the task? speaking as if she was already just 'part of this' Or will we find ourselves trapped on one side or the other, if we don't meet a certain deadline? What exactly is your order, you fdailed to mention it to this one, and Aisha failed to ask, so it is a mistake on both of our parts, in that rregarrd. And this uh, Moon. Will we fly off into the void if we are not careful? Aisha believes you understand what she is asking, yes? Aisha then gets very close to Mitsi, her head cocked to one side, as her only visible eye looks into Mitsi's And would you allow this one to study dis 'orb' before we rreturn it?
Waiting long enough for her to reply to everyone's questions before tossing in one final one. Aisha also wonders... do you purrhaps know where she can acquire Thieves Tools? Aisha has never before felt she needed them, but somehow, she feels she may need them for the jourrney ahead.
"These are good questions, Mitsi, but most of all thank you for waiving the fee and moving us to the head of the line to teleport to the moon. I'm happy to be inducted into your Order so we can explore your library." He pauses and looks thoughtful. "I hope the induction is not a long process. I think we'd all like to end this crisis quickly, even though doing so involves fighting strange red lizards."
"The Orb is an artifact that went missing during the attack on Varokaj. While we were focused on closing the portals that struck the city down, the Orb was stolen; by who, we do not know. The last time it was seen was atop a ziggurat on Vandyr. The last members we sent did not come back; hence the reward," Mitsi answers.
Looking to Aisha, she says, "By temporarily, I mean as long as you need to use it for whatever it is that you currently need it for. I'm not in the business of backstabbing, and you certainly won't be trapped on one side. If these journals your friends have brought are what they seem to be, you have more than paid your way to use the teleporters. As for the moon itself, there are plenty of dangers; fire, lava, and monsters related to such, but I've never heard of anyone flying into the void from there."
"The Order of Thalassa, as you see it, is an order of scribes and acolytes dedicated to the study of magic and its effects. Once we were a legion of powerful mages, but when great evil threatens the world, great sacrifices must be made to stop it. Our ranks were all but destroyed in the effort to close the portals over the fallen lands of Varokaj. I myself am but one of few who were a part of the Order during that nasty business. And you are welcome to study the Orb, should you find it, as long as it is returned here safely," she explains.
"Speak to me when you desire to use the teleportation circles," she finishes, providing directions to a number of shops in the city.
Harmony noticed that T'savi didn't purr but was still okay with this and feeling how tense she was in her muscles. She could understand why the kitty would be so nervous, they all are in a whole other world that isn't their own. She heard Aisha question if they are waiting on their higher ups for payment and information, nodding back. Soon Mitsi and Oli came back as she said that she liked the looks of them, mentioning that there was no reward for this. But she would reward them for the lost journals, talking about how normally there is a waiting list for use of the teleportation circles and expensive it is along with being limited access. For them though, she would give them temporary access to Vandyr so they may come and go as they please. As for the libraries, they are restricted to members of the order but she would induct them if they return the lost artifact The Orb of the Magi and how there is a money reward for that. "Oh, okay. That sounds good. After being inducted, do we have to do anything specifically to remain as such until we can go back home? I'm not sure how useful an idol like myself would be with research and religion among such smart and studious people." Harmony had said back, knowing that being a hero and joining an order of acolytes and scholars is way far off from her dream of being an idol, spreading smiles and happiness through song and dance. Then Aisha and Abraxas came up with a lot of good questions before Mitsi explained about the Orb and how it was stolen during the attack, now on top a ziggurat on Vandyr. She was glad to know that the order wouldn't betray them since they paid their way to using the teleporters, hearing about the dangers and very surprised to hear mention of fire, lava and monsters related to that. "Oh, I'm resistant to fire! So that will be good for us at least." Harmony had exclaimed with a smile, finding another very small benefit of being a Tiefling. She listened as Mitsi told them about the order, that they are scribes and acolytes dedicated to the study of magic. So definitely not anywhere close to her forte then, huh? Harmony nodded back when Mitsi gave them directions to a number of shops, thinking. "Let's go do some shopping and get supplies!" Harmony now told everyone else with a grin, wanting to go explore and meet some other people in this place, maybe even put on a performance since it's been so long.
Aisha takes this information into consideration. Fairr enough. And thank you. Aisha wishes not to impose on these peoples she has just met, though is supposed to accompany (Not that she minds so much nyow~) howeverr, she will not expect you to wait for her to buy but a single item if you do not wish. My pet can trrack you for the first few miles if needed/ She likely already has Olive's scent. She may not be a canine, but she can trrack better than most. OH!
Aisha says, suddenly realizing something Is it possible, to take a cart or carriage with us on this jourrney?
Jove nods with Harmony's idea of shopping. "I need to replenish the rations I used. Perhaps there are some interesting items we don't have access to back home." Aisha mentions getting a cart. "YES! We need a Toril Mobile." He brings out his bell. "And Harmony and I can make us a theme song!"
Abraxas stands close to Oli and Mitsi. "During my studies I've found mention of rings or potions that offer protection from fire," he says. "There are spells as well, of course. How might I or my friends find such items? They can be found at auction or from individuals selling privately on my home world, for example." Abraxas smiles slightly. "And healing potions are always useful," he says.
"Only one of you needs to be inducted - more of a formality than anything. Your friend here - Abraxas, was it? - seemed most interested in what we have to offer," Mitsi answers Harmony.
OOC: What is next for the party? The choice is entirely in your hands, but the world is always moving around you. Here are your current leads as a reminder:
Orb of the Magi: The Order of Thalassa is offering 200 gold per contractor to recover an artifact called the Orb of the Magi from Vandyr. Mitsi has offered to induct Abraxas into the Order of Thalassa if you can successfully return the Orb.
The Annual Vandyr Hunt: A flyer mentioned the Annual Vandyr Hunt, sponsored by Mayor Cheval. Sign-ups are located at the Fiend's Forge in Ruskivek.
Apocalyptic Visions: You shared a vision from Gabrielle of a ritual led by scaled creatures on Vandyr that led to the destruction of the world. The vision showed a river being diverted to the location of the ritual that prevented the destruction.
The OOC thread will have more information on levels and rules shortly.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Aisha is unaware of both the vision and the hunt. Knowing only of the Orb and of the red lizardfolk, though not the details about it.. except they are apparently on the moon (if Harmonies post is correct) therefore still leading Aisha to only truly know about Vandyr as a destination.
Looking to Olive, she frowns and bows in apology Errrrrr, sorry, Aisha meant Harmony... She is still learning your names and faces. Please forgive this one... But it matters not if you 'smell bad' everyone, and everything has a unique scent. Most humanoids cannot tell this, unless they know the person intimately.. such as after years of marrriage, a Human woman, usually, when she misses her husband or wife, will sniff somehtign belonging to them because they know their scent. For a predator.... like myself and T'savi, we don't need that long.
With that, Aisha streaks out of the guild, burning the memory of the instructions in her mind, about the only special thing about her intelligence was memorization. T'savi immediately getting up, and chasing after her mistress, both of them moving like the wind pausing only to open the door, before they both ran even faster once outside. She headed to various locations, with several searches on her mind. If the cart couldn't be taken with them, then it would essentially be useless, and the thieves tools all but forgotten. Her focus shifting after having heard of the fiery dangers of the moon they would likely soon be going to.
Aisha began searching for any of the items on her mind, or something akin to it.
Aisha with her 104 GP will be searching for the following items, though she can only 'maybe' afford one. I was unsure of the rarity allowed, so I only searched 'common to uncommon' and tried to avoid ones that seemed very powerful.
Bag of Holding Reason for seeking: Aisha is always on the verge of her max carry weight. and with this.. she could take most of that load off her shoulders.
Boots of Elvenkind Reason for seeking: Improved survivability via stealth, as well as the obvious combat/scouting advantages.
Bracers of Archery Reason for seeking: Better hit chance, but not high on the list of 'want'
Decanter of Endless Water Reason for seeking: Utility/survivability. Providing water for the part at all times especially since we're going to a place with a lot of heat.
Deck of Illusions Reason for seeking: Utility, bluffing, randomness.
Eyes of Charming Reason for seeking: It goes with her flirty personality, and her Tabaxi kleptomania. Though Tabaxi almost always return what they steal once they're bored of it.
Eyes of the Eagle Reason for seeking: Assistance with long distance shots, and to couple with her massive passive perception, useful for scouting, etc.
Gauntlets of Ogre Power Reason for seeking: An alternative to the bag of holding, for carrying capacity.
Gloves of Missile Snaring Reason for seeking: Aside from the defensive nature, it allows replenishment of ammo.
Gloves of Thievery Reason for seeking: To enhance her Klepto tendencies to be less likely to be caught, and thus less likely to potentially cause issues if caught.
Immovable Rod Reason for seeking: Utility, safety. Strategic.
Periapt of Wound Closure Reason for seeking: Keeping the 'healer' up, and wasting less actions keeping Aisha alive in case of dangerous scenarios.
Orb of Shielding (Fire) Reason for seeking: We're going to a place with a lot of fire apparently.
In character, she isn't necessarily seeking them for their specific purpose. Rather, shes asking the shopkeepers or crafters as the case may be for useful items that can help, and listening for descriptions of anything that sounds useful by chance, rather than intent. If that makes sense.
If by magic items you simply meant like a +1 weapon, or armor, then please, ignore this. Originally I was going to wait until I got a reply, but felt it may be best for the sake of pace to just put this out there and see what happens. And in which case, she'd simply seek a Longbow +1.
Persuasion Roll: 5
As she was out, Aisha perched and parked her ears, listening around her, trying to see if through all the chatter, and noise she heard anything about: Whether people seem worried about what her 'group' knows about, or if anyone even even seems to know about it. If there are any rumors going around town that are worth looking into such as missing people, a location attacked. If there are any whispers of teleportation planar travel, and whatnot along those lines. Any information of value. (passive Perception of 18)
Aisha, feeling time was of the essence, would only stay out and about long enough to either find something useful, or realize it was fruitless, before returning to the guild, Panther in tow. Then, awaiting the others to return, if they left at all. Finally, once settled, she would say So, Aisha can be rready to leave in the morning, if everyone seeks to do this? Regardless of whether she found something or not, knowing it will take a weeks labor, is willing to leave it here until they return, if she found anything at all, if the party feels the urgency of the 'red lizard people' warrants it.
Jove is going to visit the temple of Gabrielle while Abraxas is getting inducted. (In a sec., I will let you know what he is searching for there.) After Abraxas is able to join and have access to the library, he will call a group meeting in a room he knows is private to discuss what he knows about the world and conspiracies and stuff. That is his specialty after all.
From the temple: Jove is searching for answers to questions. 1. Can I contact Gabrielle or the others on my terms? If so, how to do it? 2. Can I get a holy symbol or something of Gabrielle for myself, and possibly some symbols of the other gods for their chosen PC respectively? 3. Where are temples of the other deities that chose us? 4. How she knows about Gruumsh and the goblin god who is hard to spell. Do they exist here? 5. What is the best place to eat on this world?
According to the rules for downtime for "Religious Service" in XGtE, I should roll a Charisma (Persuasion) check: 9
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Abraxas will study his spell book and have a few realizations about the Weave as a result. He should have new spells after his long rest. (OOC: But not a third third level spell slot yet? Also, does he join the order before or after finding the orb?)
If we are taking a week of downtime, he will spend the time and money necessary to search specifically for magic items that protect from fire. Charisma (Persuasion) check: 4.
Finally, if we take a week or just a night, he investigates for more facts or rumors related to life on the moon Vandyr. He'd like to read accounts of the environment and creatures there and perhaps talk to someone who has been and returned: 25.
OOC: Before I subtract any gold for the magical item search, I want to confirm that both Aisha and Abraxas are cool with spending 100 gold pieces to try and find a seller, even though that leaves them with an amount unlikely to be enough to actually purchase the weapons. It will also require a week of effort, so be certain that you're both okay with taking that much downtime (lifestyle expenses apply).
Mitsi told Abraxas he could join the Order of Thalassa if he could retrieve the Orb of the Magi from Vandyr.
Once we have learned what Harmony and Olive would like to do with their downtime (if any), I will resolve and advance.
Ah, then i misunderstood. I thought by week of effort you were referring to the seller crafting or procuring said item or materials. As opposed to spending a week searching. Got it now. Hmm....
I feel me using the info the DM provided would be bad ICly. But I just re-looked at Harmony's post, and she DID in fact, mention the world ending soon if they don't get to the moon quickly.
So my post below will be my answer to the DM's question.
Aisha had only just begun her attempted shopping trip, when the words Harmony had spoken, before Aisha became distracted with teasing Jove... The world will end if we don't get to the moon quickly and stop the lizard people... Growling at her own stupidity, Aisha would sigh, and realize her efforts now .. her twitchy desire for some degree of ease... could potentially lead to disaster. Aisha doesn't know about the hunt.. leaving her only one choice.
Aisha returns, a bit sullenly, but resolute. As before, she states she is willing to leave in the morning, if everyone else agrees. Aisha is sorry for running out so quickly before. This one.. is not the smartest kitten in the litter, and sometimes ... Aisha's whimsy gets the better of her. She had heard, but nyot listened to what Harmony had said before. If the world is in danger so urgent, we should nyot dally. This is how Aisha feels. Aisha is good at foraging, and finding food in the wild, so providing sustainence should nyot be an issue. Water may be more difficult.. But.. I can also provide us all food magically. Should the hunt prove fruitless. Though i will need the night to rest to accomplish this.
If you all disagree with this ones sense of urgency on this, please tell Aisha your reasons. Is there anything you have nyot told this kitten?
OOC - @ Barty also check your PM's. Still waiting on your response to that.
Abraxas, having reconsidered his budget and considered the urgency of saving this world, will pass on searching for magic items. He will buy two of the healing potions Mitsi mentioned.
Aisha, Abraxasand Jove spend the day seeking information while Olive leaves the city to hunt.
For Aisha:
Talk throughout Ruskivek is mostly uninteresting, though all of the conversation regarding teleportation you overhear is about an annual hunt on Vandyr. The hunt is sponsored by the mayor of the city, who mounts the trophies from three beasts on the wall in the entrance of his manor each year, rewarding those who can kill each beast. From what you can ascertain, its purpose is to provide both entertainment and safety by ridding the moon of its more dangerous beasts.
A local supply store has the tools you are seeking.
For Abraxas:
It takes a few hours, but you find a store that has potions of healing in stock.
By speaking to Oli at the Order of Thalassa, you are able to learn much about the moon Vandyr. One of the most prominent moons in the sky, Vandyr has a short cycle of 40 days through the Rikirta sky. It is habitable, but dangerous, and not a place for the everyday citizen; the only humanoid inhabitants on the moon are the Ninazu, scorpion-like people who build large, communal nests. Water is sparse, and the climate is very warm, with some rifts of molten rock and lakes of lava. The sulfurous air is not deadly, though it has been known to make people sick during prolonged exposure. Many dangerous creature roam the moon; many are creatures of fire, but large creatures like basilisks and wyverns also exist there.
For Jove:
Spending the day at her temple, you are able to learn much about Gabrielle, though not all of your questions can be answered by the priests and acolytes there.
Gabrielle is a deity much like those on Toril; rumors abound about those who have spoken with her or her avatars, but none at her temple have ever spoken with her directly, unless you count those she gifts with use of divine magic.
A holy symbol of Gabrielle can be purchased for 5 gold pieces, and can be made in the form of an amulet, an emblem, or a reliquary.
None of the other deities mentioned by Gabrielle have temples in Ruskivek. Kayel, the god of strength and battle, has a temple located in the cities of Lyrikav and Arketh. Ginan, the god of stealth and twilight, and Yuloss, the god of forests and hunting, also have temples in the city of Arketh.
Those you speak to have never heard the names Gruumsh or Maglubiyet.
The Laughing Rhino is mentioned as a possible place to eat and stay (which is where you awoke in Ruskivek), as well as the Fiend's Forge, which does not have an inn, but is known for its good ale and food, and rowdy nights.
OOC: It sounds like the party doesn't need any more than a single day of downtime, unless Harmony would like more. Where is everyone staying for the night? The only inn in town that you know of is the Laughing Rhino, where you awoke in Ruskivek.
Harmony had heard Jove agree with her before talking about the two of them making a theme song together, giggling. "Yeah, that sounds like fun!" she had said back with a big grin. Then she heard Aisha apologize as she corrected Olive for her, talking about how everyone has a unique smell before leaving with T'savi right away to go do stuff, surprised. But it wasn't long before Aisha came back, again apologizing for running out so quickly as she said that she isn't smart, having heard what she said earlier. Aisha felt that they should not dally since the world is in danger, how she is good with foraging and finding food in the wild but also magically provide food too if needed. "I agree, we should head to the moon in the morning so we can rest and be fully prepared for whatever happens on Vandyr tomorrow. It's okay, you're smarter than me. Being able to forage and find food in the wild is very useful after all. I believe that we told you everything." Harmony then said back to Aisha, smiling happily. Soon she heard Jove, sighing and shaking her head. "I don't think that is something you should say." she told him, regarding the last sentence with Aisha's siblings. After this, Harmony will go out to the center of Ruskivek and perform some songs and dances for the people to make them smile and happy. She would like to buy some healing potions for the group after if possible, hoping that maybe if her performances were good enough, she could get a discount. Using her Entertainer background, Harmony would like to perform at the Laughing Rhino tonight in exchange for free lodging and food for them all tonight.
Eh, it is fine Melody. Aisha is the least intelligent of her siblings. Rajiira, she is the smart one. But this one appreciates the vote of confidence. But Aisha came to terms with this long ago. And has made up for it in other ways.
Aisha will keep this hunt thing in mind, though it's not a priority. However, since its in the place they're already going to.... She may well try to kill two birds with one arrow if possible.. though she'll have to ask someone else to carry the trophy. She's just barely within her weight limit.
Aisha will attempt to sleep outside the inn, if possible, with her panther nearby. Avoiding 'costs' since she usually slept outside anyway.
Aisha nods at Abraxis, only for Mitsi and Oli to return but moments later. A wry chuckle escaping, but remaining silent, as to not be a hindrance to the people who were very likely to be her companions soon, as that was the only way she could see gettign back to her home.
Slippers of Spider Climbing Reason for seeking: Utility/Combat.

Death on the Water and Baldur's Gate Bodyguard

Jove puts his hand on Aisha's shoulder. "Don't be so hard on yourself. I'm sure your siblings are plenty dumb."

Abraxas, having reconsidered his budget and considered the urgency of saving this world, will pass on searching for magic items. He will buy two of the healing potions Mitsi mentioned.
Death on the Water and Baldur's Gate Bodyguard
Aisha will simply buy some Thieves tools, if time allows.
OOC - Need sleep badly. Sorry for poor post.

Aisha, Abraxas and Jove spend the day seeking information while Olive leaves the city to hunt.

OOC - Edited to reply to Melodies post.
