Brock easily drags the mastiff into a grapple after punching it straight between the eyes.. Valen having already slashed at the creature before it got to Wallis (!), hits it again just before Brock grabs it. The creature is clearly hurting now.
As the grappled mastiff is further wounded the party can see it is hanging on by a thread. From the darker area outside the bright light they all hear a loud howl, which seems to Wallis to be some sort of call to others of its kind, nobody hears anything in reply..
It is Valen's turn now I've "gone" for C2.
If he is still alive by the time Brock and C1 get their turn the attempt to escape the grapple is 7

"Sounds like there's another out there!" Valen states hearing the howling come from the darkness. He turns back to the shadowy dog, grits his teeth and attempts to run it through with his longsword.
Brock would throw the dead mastiff to the ground before moving to the torch. The man would then reach down and scoop up the nearby torch before heading towards the sound of the howl..."Where are ya (Would I see the mastiff and if so would I be able to attack it after picking up the torch? Not sure what kind of action that is. I kind of feel dumb not knowing lol!)
Simon does indicate he can see something approximately in the H8/I8 area.
As Brock picks up the torch, having walked a little bit back, (used his free action to pick up the torch), returned towards the edge of the bright light the torchlight shines out on the area around H8/I8, as Brock steps forward the light reveals the shadowy form of an even larger mastiff which snarls as the light breaks it's invisibility. Because Brock has 40' movement he can make it to H8 and use an action to attack if he wishes as he still has his action.
Brock is still up for action and then back to Books for the start of the next round.

(OOC: Sorry for making you wait. Work has been nuts and I lose some of the updates in the chaos :D)
Seeing the figure, Brock would quickly run towards the mastiff "Found you!" he would shout as he pulled back his fist and unleashed a heavy handed punch towards the beast. 19
(Ignore that above lol!)
Attack: 18 Damage: 6
If the punch lands, he would attempt to spin behind the dog and place the handle of his torch under its jaws and grapple the creature!
OOC I'm not sure that Grappling equals the other characters getting advantage on the attacks, both hit so it stands but I read it as just removing the grappled combatant's ability to use an action, so all it can do is try to contest the grapple on it's turn.
Lila shoots a bolt that sinks deep into the mastiff's side and it yelps and wriggles trying to get free from Brock, Wallis uses the time to move up and stab at the creature with her short sword 17 for 6 damage. The blade also cuts in near the arrow and the mastiff continues to try and fight it's way free.
Attempting to escape from Brock's iron grip! 15 Roll to be contested by Brock, then Valen's turn either way, followed by Brock.
(Grappled doesn't grant advantage but restrained does... Also people that are grappled can still attack I THINK... if reading the rules as written. I want to take the grappler feat at lvl 4 so that I can get advantage on attacks against targets I grapple and have to option to try to restrain them so others get advantage)
Grappled
A grappled creature's speed becomes 0, and it can't benefit from any bonus to its speed.
The condition ends if the grappler is incapacitated (see the condition).
The condition also ends if an effect removes the grappled creature from the reach of the grappler or grappling effect, such as when a creature is hurled away by the thunderwave spell.
Restrained
A restrained creature's speed becomes 0, and it can't benefit from any bonus to its speed.
Attack rolls against the creature have advantage, and the creature's attack rolls have disadvantage.
The creature has disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws.
(OOC: I knew I shouldn't have told you that but figured that if I was hoping to grapple and then pummel dudes with advantage you might want to know that they could fight back...)

Very dead, you can't see the other one but the call seemed to come from just outside the bright light of the torches, to the left of the party.
Brock is up and initiative is still ongoing.
