"Why not both!?" Valen says looking to the others then begins to eye the selection a bit closer. "I haven't had a good cup of wine down here in... well, in too long." The noble points to one of the moderately price bottles. "I'll have a glass of the tempranillo you have there," he says reaching into his coin purse.
Kit shoots Valen a "really?" look and glances at Wallis. "Seeing if Kyve knows anything about what's going on," she says quietly. "There's been a murder, a fire at the home of the dead person's sweetheart, and a serious riot in the space of a day or so. Something's up, and Kyve is the best contact we have right now, at least while I have this face."
"Have a drink and hopefully learn a little more," Valen replies while waiting for his drink. He turns to Kits and gives her a little smile. "What is it? Are we in such a hurry that we can't have a drink? Those that died will still be dead and we've all managed to stay out of the jails - or worse - after the riots."
Kit raises an eyebrow. "By all means," she says dryly. "Impair yourself when we're headed into a potentially dangerous situation. Just don't expect me to be the one saving your ass."
The barman raises an eyebrow at Valen's order reaching for the bottle and pouring a glass, before commenting "Not a lot of folk order that, but it is very good, will that be all sir?"
He serves Brock as well not responding to his first remark about the chaos in town with the studied look of someone trying to mind his own business.
If nobody else orders he returns to cleaning up around the bar.

With his mead in hand, Brock would take a deep swig before heading up the stairs. Turning to Kit he would grin. "Not all of us weigh less than a hundred pounds soaking wet.. One drink isn't going to be a problem miss.. and besides.. It helps to keep me loose!" The muscular fighter would say as he downs the rest of the drink before reaching the top of the stairs. Once there he would set his mug down on the first empty table and look around the room for Kyve.
Wallis isn't sure if it is the tension or something specific but the man, makes her look twice, although he seems to be going about his business normally.
As Brock reaches the upper level he looks for Kyve, finding the man lounging on a large chair, feet up on the table in front of him, he is reading from a note of some description, and doesn't appear to have noticed Brock, several of the other people including the doorman do pay attention to the large man entering the area. One of the men, smiles and shakes his head commenting under his breath to another who chuckles in response.

Vhon - Level 2 Warlock - What shall become of the Drunken Sailor?
After setting down his drink, Brock would walk over to the giggling men. "How is it going? Someone have a funny story? I could use a laugh." Brock would say looking to the two men.
"We were admiring your ability to shrug off the implications of what you have done, killing a cleric who was accompanied by a group of watchmen, to the extent that you can enjoy a mug of mead while the Cracks prepares to burn, still maybe you're right - we should drink as much of the hard liquor as we can, less to burn later on." The challenge in his eyes is clear, he may be giving away about forty pounds and a few inches in height to Brock but he doesn't look like he is going to back down. Over his shoulder Brock sees Kyve look up, his face hard to read in the low light.
Kit sighs as Brock gets sidetracked again, and walks past the monk towards Kyve while the pit fighter engages in another macho-off (:P).
"Hey, Kyve, hear about the fire at the Hidden Treasure? Quite the ill-timed conflagration, don't you agree?" she says pleasantly, sitting down across from him and crossing her legs. "Now, normally I would never interrupt a man while he's in the middle of something, but I tend to forget my manners when the entire town is on the verge of catching fire-figuratively and possibly literally-and I don't know why."
"Hey now! I hear that cleric killed himself... I guess he felt bad about the way he was treating the citizens of the cracks" Brock would say with a grin, holding his calloused hands up innocently... a moment later the smile would fade from his face as he looked the man up and down. "I don't always go looking for fights.. but I never back down from them. I get the impression that you can understand that" The muscular monk would say with a wink. Brock would then take a moment contemplating how hard it would be to throw the man off the balcony and if he thought the man would survive before shrugging and walking over to Kit. He would stand behind her and hold his arms. Not trying to look intimidating.. at least not on purpose. Just listening.
"Laugh it up big man, all the way until you watch them clearing bodies off the street because you don't know when to walk away, sure I don't like to back down either but there is a time and a place. We've lived our lives in this gutter, we know how it works, we also know that the place is like a tinderbox now, try and stay out of any more fights or a lot of people could end up getting hurt, and I guarantee one of them will be you." The man says as Brock walks past him, not stopping even though Brock appears not to be listening. There are a few murmers of agreement from several of the men but nobody makes any moves. Kyve holds up a hand in a signal that it is enough, before standing, sketching a bow to Kit and Brock rising back up with a smile in his eyes.
"He is right of course, you have a knack for causing trouble, I'd stick to the pits if I were you, some things don't get fixed by violence..." he trails off and looks at Kit "Then again, some things do, how are you Lila? I hope your new friends aren't getting you into more than you can handle. If you want to start over I can always find a place for you, just say the word." Kyve folds closed the note he had been reading, and tucks it away. "I didn't hear about the blaze, I caused it, obviously, let us move past the back and forth, the Cracks didn't benefit but I did." He pauses looking over at Wallis and Valen, pursing his lips as if making a decision. "I had to kill her, whether you realised it or not she murdered Glandon, I couldn't let it stand and I killed her, the fire was an accident, her father nearly managed to stop me but as we were fighting he knocked over an oil lamp and the whole place went up in moments, I managed to get a couple of the drunks out before they got killed too, only Segan and that little witch died."
Standing he moves to the balcony "I have been selfish and put myself before the people and the streets, the wrath of the Watch was predictable, although Brock may have made things worse in killing the holy man I know I set the ball in motion myself. I will carry that burden and try and make things right here in the Cracks but please do not make things harder than they need to be by starting more brawls in public, I beg you."
Brock would lift his thick hand and rub the back of his head. "Sure... I will say I did all the fighting.. and killing.. and I will take the blame" Brock would say glancing to Kit for a fraction of a second before locking eyes Kyve. "But they drew blood first.. killed one of my... one of OUR community... and for what? Because they can!? There are a whole hell of a lot more of us than there are members of the watch and respect goes both ways. I have lived here long enough to know we are at the bottom of the food chain down in the cracks but that doesn't mean we have to take their shit!" Brock would shout as the veins in his neck begin to bulge a bit. "if the watch helped us rather than oppress us, If the served us instead of serving their own greed.. than maybe we could all get along and this place could really thrive!" Brock wound say as tries to calm himself down, his back heaving up and down as he takes deep breaths. He would take a moment to rub his face with both hands before grabbing his hair and looking once again to Kyve. "I don't feel bad that that ass hole member of the watch is dead.. maybe I should... but I don't." Brock would say looking to the ground. "But I don't want to cause problems for people here in the cracks... we have enough problems as it is... I... Will try to keep myself in check."
Kit crosses her arms. "Brock, maybe a little less shouting sedition?" she suggests with a raised eyebrow before turning her attention to Kyve. "While I appreciate the offer, I do think I'll stick with them for a bit. No need to start over again quite yet." She smirks a bit as Kyve talks about causing the blaze, although she also tenses slightly, prepared to stop Wallis if the half-elf jumps at him. "Well, if you insist on abandoning the pleasantries I'll hardly object. I won't question how you learned Mirel killed Glandon, and at least now we know who caused the blaze and the immediate casualties." She stands, moving to the balcony as well, and turns to Kyve, making sure her mouth isn't visible to anyone below and letting her hair fall forward to hide her words from the others on the balcony, eyes turning to pure icy steel as she breathes to him softly enough that only he and perhaps Brock can hear her "And let me make one thing clear. Brock isn't the one who killed the cleric. I did. I did it without hesitation, knowing the ramifications, and I would do it again a thousand times if I needed to, without regret or guilt. I'm perfectly fine with Brock taking both the backlash and credit with the masses, but I want to make it clear to you exactly who you're dealing with and what I'm willing to do if needed." She moves back to a normal conversation position, her smile returning and eyes regaining their sparkle. "Public brawls, of course, make things harder for everyone. We'll certainly endeavor to avoid them where possible. Naturally, as contributors to this crisis, do let us know if there's anything we can do to help get things calm again."
