The man wastes no time in departing, although his hand moved towards his dagger for a moment when Brock was harassing him. A breeze momentarily causes the oil lamps to flutter whilst the door is open but the air is pleasant, summer is just ending and the nights are still warm.

"Brock," Wallis exclaims at his rudeness which seems to have grown since they've parted. "Excuse me, sir," she says going after him. "I apologize for my friend," she added next smiling softly. "Are you looking for something in particular," she adds. 9
OOC: I don't know persuasion so I'll roll it for giggles!

"Nice," Wallis says as the man leaves before rounding on Brock. "Please," she pauses to calm her tone and expression, "let me do the talking," she adds next looking at her old muscle-bound friend with a frown. "It's very obvious you're still picking fights where there really aren't any to be found. If we're going to find someone you can punch your way to the answers," she adds next still wearing her frown.

"Look... I have been here for a while... a lot longer than you Wallis... and THAT guy doesn't belong here... " Brock would whisper-shout pointing his hand towards the man as he continues quickly down the street. "And now when he runs off and tells all his friends about his free magic show he just witnessed, don't be surprised when he comes back with thirty guards... I wouldn't be surprised if he was some kind of guard himself...hired to spy on folks in the Cracks..." He would say with a heavy sigh before rubbing his face with his hands. Then lowering his hands he would take a step towards the half-elf. "I don't pick fights for fun ya know.... Every fight I have ever been in has been to protect someone else... in one way or another... " He would trail off before pulling out his lute. "I Think we should follow that guy while we look for some Oilers" Brock would mention as he heads out down the road strumming a song on his lute.
"Yes, that's why you should have been polite in the very least to show him we aren't a bunch of thugs," Wallis hisses after Brock. "Put that thing away," she then says pointing to the instrument. "We're trying to find people not draw attention to ourselves," she adds looking annoyed.

"Fine...." Brock would mutter putting his lute on his back before turning and walking down the street. "I still think it would be easier to let them find us but we can do it your way" He would mutter under his breath with a grumble.
"Are you two quite done? If I wanted to listen to a couple bicker I would have had an evening back at my parent's dining room," Valen says continuing behind the pair. "I wouldnt worry too much about that one," he adds confidently. "I'm sure my talents are sure to draw some as attention. Talents some may be willing to pay for."
"Let's just find this kid" Brock would reply to with a grumble to Valen, the darkness helping to hide his blushing cheeks. Brock would head off walking north towards, trying to keep his eyes open for any threats.. or Oilers that may know where to find their prey.
The road ahead is still relatively busy, people moving around on their way home after work or out for the evening or working through the evening. The food vendors selling questionable meat products are still going strong and there is still a fair amount of noise. The light generally comes from building with shutters not closed yet but there are a few higher placed lamps to keep the people from stumbling around too badly. Nevertheless it is dark and only Wallis finds it easy to see, Valen and Brock find the shadows make it hard to see past about thirty feet (disadvantage on perception for longer distance related checks) Brock doesn't see anything out of the ordinary as they move off, the man they had words with in the tavern takes a sidestreet almost immediately, heading east away from the river which is about 100' over to the west running from North to South.
OOC I'm going to assume that you have with you any items you feel you need from your equipment, I meant to check this before but people living in a city don't generally walk around with all their possessions on their backs so let me know in the future if you head out whether you are taking your adventuring gear or not. Ta.
Valen's stomach grumbles as they pass down the street reminding him of his empty coin purse. Though sometimes of questionable provenance, the street vendors always find a way to make their food sell smell delicious. "There appears to be plenty of targets for any pickpockets that may be about," he says leaning into the others. "It's going to be hard to discern anything with this crowd and lack of light."

"Hence why I said we should investigate in the morning," Wallis replies her tone slightly petulant annoyed by Valen's insults! "I can see fine but humans I imagine aren't having much luck," she adds gesturing out into the darkness.

OOC: Watch me roll shite because I'm cocky AF lol!! I'd say Wallis having ZERO trust in city folk has all her gear with her maybe save a bedroll!
Brock would mumble under his breath... 'If ONLY there was a way we could make draw attention to ourselves and make us look like the juiciest targets... then the pickpockets would come to us..." He would say with an eye roll as he made sure to keep his hand held tightly to his lute and meager pouch of coin.

"I don't understand how you think you'll be able to catch a pickpocket like that? That's what they're trained to do no? I mean didn't Segan mention a hangout? Why not just go there," Wallis adds still looking around for anything/anyone that suspiciously stands out.
OOC: I throw in an investigation too 11 bahahahahaha

"Because if you can FIND a pick pocket... you can follow them to their hide out... or interrogate them to find the hide out... or get information!" Brock would reply. 'Finding a pick pocket is easier if you let them come to you!" He would say with a grin as he continues to watch the people around himself and keeps his hands held tight to his valuables.
"Assuming the Oilers are the only pickpockets working here," Wallis sighs then looks to Valen. "We're old friends if you must know," she then says to him. "Brock...well he's a good man to have in your corner in a fight but really," she then pauses looking back at Brock, "you're just looking to get your property stolen for all finding a pickpocket this way is going to do for you," she adds staying put in the street. "We need a plan other than 'hey let's see if they rob us'...no offense Brock," she adds arms crossed over her chest. "We should have discussed this in the tavern and not the street as well," she adds tone still annoyed.

Eyes well-suited to the gloom Wallis sees the streets far better than the others, as they reach a junction she notes one man go in who has been walking behind them nod to a man coming out of the alleyway and possibly make a hand gesture or point in their direction before carrying on, the man coming out of the alley sees the group but so far waits on the corner of the alley and the street making no move to come closer to the group or any sign that he intends to.

(OOC: Do these types of gangs tend to operate in their own areas, or is there any sort of turf war going on? History? 13 , minus 3 for just general Int check.
Other clarification please... "the Oilers, they run down by the Burning Castle and Tybalt's Market", this was telling us their "turf" not any sort of base of operations? What is the BUrning Castle? His little place above Carrick's.. is this another tavern/inn in the area?)
Valen knows the following - the Oilers are one of a couple of smallish pickpocketing gangs that operate in the Cracks, currently they seem relatively stable, there aren't any sizeable gang wars or similar, the gangs of note nearby are the Unders and the Brave Boys. The Oilers definitely "claim" the Market area from a territory point of view
Tybalt's Market is a fairly large market, situated against one of the most obvious routes down into the older settlement ruins, it is almost the only place in the Cracks where you will find City Watch posted continually, this is more for the protection of the locals than crime prevention, but it isn't a dangerous posting.
Burning Castle is a large Inn just to the side of the market - it is a rowdy and fun place, with a high likelihood of finding a game of chance, company for the evening, or a fight or all of the above as well as some of the least worst booze in the Cracks.
Carricks you think is a general store.
Imagine a square - you start in the bottom middle, at the Hidden Treasure - the left hand edge is a river, and another part of the Cracks beyond it. there are two bridges.
A street, which you are on runs up the centre - at the end there is a large market occupying 500mx300m and just to the left of the centre is the Burning Castle, very close to Carrick's.
To the right and all through the centre leading up to the market is a warren of curving narrow streets and alleyways, that lead off randomly.
"Shall we make our way down to the Burning Castle? If we cannot get a thief to lead us to their hideout we can at least check out what's-his-name's room at Carrick's?"
