Alten says nothing, having a 60 second staredown with Grom. When it becomes obvious that Grom isn't going to do anything but berate , Alten will expend a use of Divine Sense to focus on the Glaive
Nothing registers — celestial, fiend, nor undead — with your senses.
My plan was to be farther away from the group and the Glaive to prevent casual overhearing or eavesdropping in normal circumstances. Unless Fenris rules differently, I would say you have to make a conscious decision to come out and try to overhear. Did you get curious when Corkie came and got Grom then came back and took the Glavie?

(Do the rest of us hear them barking at each other?)
Based on SDCs specification above... If you followed Corkie then please make a perception check. I imagine if you did you’d be trying to listen from outside the room through the door.

If they're purposely going away from the group, Rees wouldn't have followed but will be curious when they get back :)

Cool, cool. You can make an insight, or perception check when they return. Your choice.
Alten, having exhausted his options, will return to the sleeping room to finish preparing for the new day unless Corkie or Grom say or do anything to keep this scene going.

"Fiction is the lie through which we tell the truth." A Camus
As you get up and start walking away you hear a soft mumbling coming from Grom..
If you turn around to look he is staring at you wide eyed and just in awe...
* Cough*Cough * Grom clears his throat.... "Alten hold on.. all things aside there is something going on with you... Age might not guarantee me wisdom.. But magic doesnt lie..."
Talien takes the axe a and begins to polish and clean it, he also begins to talk, not directly to you just in general. Better to have a clean and maintained weapon than one that might fail you in battle. When your life depends on it and you pull out a dirty rusted weapon, it will be more likely to fail you. Before returning the axe he traces a finger over the red gem inlaid into it.
When your finger runs across it being metal yourself a slight burst of arcane energy archs from the ruby to ur finger...
Talien is slightly surprised by this as last time this did not occur. His eyes turn green briefly and then back to blue, he hands the axe back to Grom and says, If you ever wish to sell this axe, I would like to buy it. It is very different from the weapons we have in my realm and I have not seen one like it here as of yet. Do you know who made it? Can they make one for me?
" There was once a Great dwarf mast forgesmith. i was very young and had done some work for his family i had just come into the realization that i was going to presue the arcane arts so i commissioned to take my Arcane focus and craft it into a axe head and then i spent years just channeling my magic into the blade. he spent years trying different metals and different combinations of things to get it to work properly. Sadly very very shortly after we completed this one he fell ill and was not able to make another or pass the knowledge of how and what the pattern/combination of metal was so his legacy lives on in this one blade... this is all i have to show for years and years of our work and effort."
It is a great weapon. If you ever sell it, keep me in mind. If you fall in battle is there someone to return this too, or could I keep it?
"Talien if i were to die and my soul was no longer bound to this body you may use my axe untill i return for it." as grom says this corkie walks up and whispers in groms ear
"exchuse me for a min talien i will return"
You arrive to see a scowling Alten.
Talien will busy himself cleaning random things of the groups he can lay his hands on, expescially Tricks equipment because he has not cleaned it yet.
(On your return) So if you die you will return? Are you a phoenix that I have heard about? So Phoenix's are not birds, they summon birds.
Grom will pack up with things and then make his way towards the door, if its not shut he will shut it and then look @corkie "Im not 100% sure what is going on with Alten yet, but he is under some type of spell... im not sure i have ever seen anything like this before but i have some books that talk of magic having the power to do things to people... We need to keep an eye on him"
What? Phoenix? What in the hells are you talking about. Why would you think I'm a phoenix?
Grom said I can have his axe if he does but only until he returns for it. Phoenix's rebirth after death. So Grom is a Phoenix. (soft as a whisper)He even has the bird Urgrim.
assuming you meant Grom being a phoenix not Alten.
OOC - sorry, thougth that was directed at Alten since you said "your" return and it followed my post. I thought Talien was asking Alten about being a phoenix. Doesn't really matter.
Edit - hell I didn't see Shaz's last post before seeing Talien's. Sorry folks, I screwed that up.

“Certainly... I don’t know him well.. But, I could tell something was up with him. Can you say what type of spell he might be under?”

Hmm, nothing.
Alten will then cast Detect Good and Evil on the Glaive

Looking towards Rees and Arxius, while eating.
What's the plan? We still going down that hole this morning?
