The old man finally wrangles the dog and continues on his way nodding to Grom apologetically.
Seeing Grom has exited the Ol' Boar Carlisle dumps out his pipe, walks over, and with an air inquires, "Has your group decided yet? I grow tired of waiting."
We have, we will be gathering supplies and making final preparations tonight and then at first light tomorrow we will set out for the Citidal!
Carlisle smiles broadly, "Excellent choice. Excellent choice indeed, I am glad to hear it. I must leave here on business shortly, but will take care of your room and board with Garon, before setting off. I look forward to seeing you again... preferably with wand in hand."
Thank you again, and i do say again please excuse the band of characters we are. Carlisle, before we part how do we get ahold of you once we have the wand?

While the others go about their business finalizing the party's plans, Rees finishes her meal and tucks away any scraps of food that seem worth keeping into a small pouch at her hip.
Grom makes his way to the Store, he would like to inquire about buying some items: 1x Smoking Pipe Smoking Tobacco or anything else they might smoke out of it.... Some Paper or Parchment
then i would make small talk with Kerowyn. Only if the Store is empty i would ask her if she knows Carlisle, and/or anything about him. and see if i can get her to talk about what relic she sent her son/daughter after.

The store is empty when you arrive save for Kerowyn who is busily scrawling notes in her ledger. As you enter she looks up and greets you with a big smile, "Why, it's Grom! Welcome dear! Are you here to get some supplies for your venture into the Sunless Citadel? I have a fresh order of Dun Hills pipeweed -- 10 gold an ounce, a few new corncob pipes - 1 gold each, and parchment 1 gold for 10 sheets or paper 1 gold for 5 sheets. How much would you have from me?"
"Carlisle... hmmm... can't say I have ever heard of a Carlisle around here before. As for my grandchildren they were always mischievous and when a paladin of Pelor named Sir Braford and a ranger named Karakas came through Oakhurst about a month past inquiring about the Sunless Citadel they volunteered to show them the way there. They must have volunteered to show them inside as well unbeknownst to me! And I haven't seen them since.. poor dears, I hope they are okay! I don't recall them, or the strangers (the paladin and ranger) saying anything about a relic though, I hope they're not involved in some wicked sorcerer's scheme!" she says worriedly.

ooc: No shame whatsoever, just grabbing leftovers and saving them for later (I didn't throw her meal order in before because I wasn't around, but she would have made one, so even if no one else left anything she's tucking her own leftovers into her pouch)

Garon sees Rees doing this and comes over to speak with her. He is carrying a little sack.
"Umm.. excuse me miss.. but, it looks like you could use these.. please take them they are on the house."
When you open the sack you find three steak and kidney pies all wrapped up neatly in paper and ready for travel.

Let me get 1 ounce of the Dun Hills and a fresh new pipe for the road ahead. thank you kindly. Kerowyn , me and some new fellows i met down at the INN are setting forth in morning for the Citadel to see if we can find your grandchildren and hopefully return them to you! also i ask about this "Carlisle" because he posted a Note looking for help and these fellows i recuited to help me we are going into the Citadel to retrieve a Wand of some magical sort for him. and i have not seen him around town in my time here and he seemed kinda off to me.
Since I went out with Gorm, Alten looks around the area while Gorm talks with our new employer. Do I see any obvious church/chapel/temple?
Did we get an answer as to direction and distance to the temple? Do we need to secure mounts and/or cart or is it close enough to walk? If we didn't get an answer, then I would ask Bozak
In terms of prep, I only need to pick up a couple of day's worth of rations and oil, presumably at the general store. If I don't see any obvious sign of religious institutions, then I would inquire about it at the store.
I ultimately am seeking out a source of holy water and to talk with the local religious representative to see what info s/he might have on the Citadel, the missing children, and on Bozak.
"An ounce of Dun Hills and 1 pipe it is...11 gold dear... I'll throw in 10 sheets of paper for free to on account of our history. I'm glad you found some folks to help you. The Sunless Citadel is no place to go alone as you well know. I'll ask the heads of the other noble families in town and see if anyone has heard of or has seen this Carlisle before.. and I'll be sure to keep a lookout for him myself. I hope that helps you Grom."
"Thank you, As always my lady the pleasure is all mine" Grom will turn and leave the store. find a bench bull out his book, pack a pipe and just read and puff unless the party needs him for anything. ungrim lands on the back of the bench near grom and he pets him down the back and they just relax.

At the General Store...
"Oh, a knight how lovely.. you know the last paladin that came here wasn't as handsome as you," Keroywn giggles as she prepares the items you requests. "Here we are two days Rations (1 day) and one flask of Oil (flask). That will be 10 gold and 1 silver piece if you please. As for the religious places there is a shrine near the entrance to town. It is maintained by Dem “Corkie” Nackle, a female gnome priestess of Pelor."
After paying Keroywn and thanking her you head to the shrine.
At the Shrine...
You walk back toward the Smithy, turn right, and follow the narrow road across a small bridge. The shrine is small as this is a small town with little money compared to the temples found in cities across Faerun, but it is still beautiful in its own right. You walk inside and see the symbol of Pelor on the back wall. The sun is shining through the room and making the well kept interior sparkle in the afternoon sun. Corkie greets you..
"Hello my brother.. what is your name? And how may I help you? It is holy water and information you seek? I am afraid I have not heard of this Carlisle fellow, alas I spend most of my time here in the shrine and tending to the locals. I also try to stay out of the town gossip... although the farmers have been mentioning strange happenings on the outskirts of town lately. May I suggest a donation of 25 gold pieces to the shrine for the holy water?"
DM Notes: The shrine is marked as "Chapel" on the map in the Public DM notes. Yes, you did learn something about the location of the Sunless Citadel. See this comment from Carlisle. The map for that is also in the Public DM notes, it looks like it is a half day's ride at most. I don't think the party can afford horses at the moment, but they aren't necessary to get to the citadel. The missing brother and sister are not children. @ShaZadam may still have a little more info from his background to share with the party regarding that...
"Oh, a knight how lovely.. you know the last paladin that came here wasn't as handsome as you,"
And the last shopkeeper I dealt with could not hold a candle to you.
Keroywn giggles as she prepares the items you requests. "Here we are two days [Tooltip Not Found] and one flask of [Tooltip Not Found]. That will be 10 gold and 1 silver piece if you please.
My appolgies for any impertenance madame but over 10 gold for 2 day's rations and a flask of oil? That seems very expensive. I've traveled down from Lusken and a day's rations have never cost me more than 5 silver. A flask of oil is typically but a single silver. I'm certain these are of the highest quality. However, I'm but a poor servant of Torm. I cannot afford your wares if the price you quoted is accurate.
I have a gold piece in my hand to pay her what I expected the goods to cost.

Good afternoon Priestess (or whatever title is appropriate for a servant of Pelor). I'm Alten, a humble servant of Torm.

So it is safe to say this Carlisle is not a local? Oh well. And no idea on what we might face in this Citadel on our rescue mission for Lady Hucrele's children?
I wanted to be prepared for any undead and was hoping the church might be able to donate a vial of holy water. I cannot donate the amout you request at this time. As you probably know, Brothers of Torm tithe heavily. I can offer but 5 gold now. Could I perhaps repay your church upon our successful return from my profits before my cutomary tithe? Or perhaps I can offer some service to you or your church, either now or in the future?

She takes the one gold piece, smiles at you, and gives you a wink that makes you think she has a thing for paladins.

To Kerowyn: Nay lady. I cannot take advantage of a simple mistake. I pull out the additional silver piece and put it on the counter.

At the General Store...
”Why thank you for forgiving an old woman her transgressions my dear. Good luck to you!”
At the Shrine of Pelor...
Corkie shifts her robes a little uncomfortably before replying, “Well... there is one thing a paladin like yourself might do for us...”
“A perfect, ruby-red apple ripens on the Gulthias Tree at the summer solstice. The midsummer fruit grants vigor, health, and life. It heals those who suffer from any disease or other ailment and I could use it to aid the sick and poor here in Oakhurst. For the past twelve years the goblin tribe infesting the Sunless Citadel has been selling a single piece of this magical fruit to the highest bidder in town (the fruit sells for around 50 gp, which is all the townsfolk can bring themselves to pay a goblin). I have tried to plant the seeds at the center of each fruit the shrine of Pelor received, hoping to engender an enchanted apple tree, but when the seeds germinate in their proper season, they produce a twiggy mass of twisted sapling stems. Not too long after the saplings reach 2 feet in height, they are stolen — every time! The townsfolk and I assume the goblins send out thieves to ensure their monopoly of enchanted fruit. If you can get use one of these fruits without the goblins knowing we have it we may be able to grow a tree for ourselves! The shrine would be able to aid people in Oakhurst and likely become a pilgrimage place in which case we will be able to help others as well!”
“If you can accomplish this noble paladin then we would be in your debt forever. Of course if you agree I will supply you with the holy water you requested and whatever else you might think you need... though mind you.. time is of the essence.. it is almost midsummer!”
DM Note: It is the 1st of Summertide today.. you have about two weeks til the solstice.
