Talien will then tie a rope around a decent sized rock or piece of brick (about 30-50lbs) from the rubble. When we exit he will pull it against the door from the other side while running the rope under the door, as to not allowing the rat to follow them directly. He will then cut his rope, effectively losing 5 feet.

Okay, it takes you a few minutes, but you think you’ve secured the door well enough.
Why dont we allow him to do that if he wants the rest of us can go back and work on that other door..
Do to my previous detect magic walk this other door had no known magical lock correct?
The only place you detected magic was the dragon door. Nothing else gave off magic vibes. Grom.. this might be a good time for a history check [DC 10] to see if you recall anything about the citadel that you may have learned while staying with the Hucrele‘s.

Argh. Lol. Guess you weren’t paying much attention Grom. But, you do remember hearing something about a cult and something called the cataclysm which caused the fortress to sink into the earth. You also remember that enchantments helped the structure survive its descent into the earth — which explains why most of the citadel remains intact.
The door opens with relative ease into an unlit musty rectangular hallway. The hallway is 40 feet long and 10 feet wide. There are cobweb covered scones on the grey stone walls, but other than that the hall is empty. At the far end of the hall there are 3 wooden doors (similar to the two unlocked doors you opened in the broken tower room i.e. hinges are on the opposite side of you and they have iron rings fashioned as handles). One door is set all the way back in the western wall. The other two doors are 30 feet down the hall. One is set in the northern wall and the other is set in the southern wall.
'Take them as they come' is my suggestion. That is unless we have a good reason not to try a given door. We just need to check them out before opening - listening, checking for traps. Let's not just barrel thru.
DM Note: To speed this process up a bit someone with high perception can listen and inspect the outside of each door for traps and locks. Whoever does this make 3 perception checks with advantage (assuming someone else is also listening). Door's DCs: Western [DC 10], Northern [DC 15], Southern [DC 15].
Okay... well.. I did that wrong. But, will use the 6, 9, and 18. So the three rolls were 10, 13, and 22 with the modifier.
[22] The Southern door is locked [a DC 20 Dex check with thieves tools can open it]. It is not trapped and noises eminent from the inside.
[13] The Northern door is unlocked. It does not appear to be trapped. Chatra puts his ear close to the door and doesn't hear anything from the inside.
[10] The Western door is unlocked. The door doesn't appear to trapped, so Chatra puts his ear right up to the door. He hears a very faint noise coming from somewhere on the other side. It sounds like it could be sniffling, or crying of some sort, but the noise is too faint to be sure.
I do not object but I do recommend we have a plan. Talien says to Rees's question, he then recommends an attack strategy, as listed below.
Talien will spread out some of his ball bearings on the floor directly in front of the door in a 3' area, leaving a little path on both sides of the door in case we have to pursue anyone/anything.
He will open the door and Alten will be ready with his melee weapon attack, both of them staying off to the sides of the door (not in the ball bearings) for the others to attack.
Arxius, Rees, Grom and Chatra will all stand back with ranged attacks ready (spell(s) ready/bows having arrows drawn and ready to fire.)
He then asks if anyone has questions or a better idea.
It's a fine plan. Everyone just remember to assess, not just start shooting at the first sign of movement. Defensive postures until we know what we're dealing with.
If nothing comes out fighting perhaps Arxius and I move in to take a look around some more.

With your defensive posture readied Talien opens the door...
From the threshold of the hallway you are currently in you can see 10 feet into the room. It is dimly lit, but scanning the room left to right (south to north) you see the corner of some large metallic structure, a wooden bench, and the corner of a fireplace that looks to be made of stones placed in a circle. A fire is smoldering providing the only source of light. The room smells like filth and smoke. The acrid smell slightly burns your nostrils and eyes. The sound you heard doesn't grow any louder, but it clearly sounds like sniveling and sobbing now. The source of the sadness sounds like it might be coming from behind the wooden bench, but you are not sure as you can not see beyond this point.
Arxius looks between Talien and Alten then promptly steps over the ball bearings into the room. She studies the room closely, her eyes lingering on the wooden bench. Dropping into a crouched position, she tries to look under it. Still wary of the rest of the room.
As you enter the room you see crudely executed symbols and glyphs, scribed in bright green dye, decorate the large and irregularly shaped crumbling chamber. The aforementioned metal structure is a metallic cage centered in the middle of the southern wall. The cage has a gaping hole and stands empty. The small wooden bench next to the cage is draped with green cloth, several small objects rest on it. Looking under the wooden bench you find a bedroom, the source of the whimpering comes from inside it. You can make out a humanoid shape, but it is covered in a blanket, so you are unsure who, or what it is.
Still crouched, Arxius moves forward in a very animal-like manner. She leans heavily on her knuckles and then walks forward step by step. "Hello?" she says quietly. Her eyes dart back to the hole in the cage before returning to the shape.
Talien will then tie a rope around a decent sized rock or piece of brick (about 30-50lbs) from the rubble. When we exit he will pull it against the door from the other side while running the rope under the door, as to not allowing the rat to follow them directly. "Great," Rees says dryly, looking around the new room. "More doors. Anyone have an idea about which way we should go?"
