There is a brief pause before you hear a cry from the sentry. ”Open the Gates!”For a second, you see nothing change. Suddenly, looming out of the mist and rain, two large doors come swinging towards you, stopping roughly 10 feet from where you stand. You can see the large gateway they covered, the interior burning with torchlight. ”Pass through, patrol!”
(Sorry folks, just finished my AP exams. Posts should be more regular until finals)
The doors swing shut behind you, shutting out the rain and the cold. You walk through the tunnel for nearly a minute, completely alone in the torchlight. In the distance you can see another set of doors , which you can roughly gauge to be the other side of the fortress. A set of four guards appears to be waiting for you, and the one on the far right speaks up with Watchman Pilos' voice. "Alright, Patrol. Up against the wall so we can search you."
They give you the standard search. They seem to be extra cautious on the half orcs, but not for an obnoxiously long time. ”You appear to be all clear, Patrol. Keep quiet about this. Protocol changed after weapons of Vorrin make were found on corpses of the savages, and the General wants to catch the traitors in the act, so these searches need to remain our little secret. Got it?”
Vorrin means “of Vord” (much like how Roman means “of Rome”). I couldn’t find a better way say it, “Vordic”, “Vordean” or “Vordin” didn’t sound quite right to me.
Pilos shakes his head. “I don’t have exact figures, but from what I’ve heard, there are far too many of our weapons in their hands to be scavanging. An outpost was assaulted by savages using only our weapons. That sort of thing doesn’t happen on accident.”
