All current business concluded, you all make your way to the Broad Boar tavern, opening the door to find a far more calm atmosphere. Soldiers sit at tables, drinking various beverages and talking. While there is still a certain chatter and bursts of laughter, the place is nowhere near as raucous as what you are accustomed to.
Othokent hesitates at the door, seeming -- as much as a Lizardfolk can seem anything -- uncertain about crossing over. It isn't until Snake Eater takes her customary coiling about his frame that he follows after the others. But he is on edge the entire time, constantly checking to see if any of the soldiers idling appear ready to go for a weapon. "Scaled Teacher sometimes come here. Othokent follows, even in worrisome place like these."Having said that, he pushes aside his worry to see if the so-called "Scaled Teacher" he mentions is present at all. And if so, he eagerly beelines towards the white scaled dragonborn.

Tolroc will grab a table and order drinks for the party and start listening to the conversation in the tavern listening out for employment opportunities as caravan guards.
Alton looks around for either information on how to become a caravan guard or he tries to find whoever most looks like they are in charge, his hand on his dagger the whole time, uneasy among so many authorities. Perception: 8
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Elnrog will glance around the room, seeing if he can spot any soldiers he is familiar with, in particular form his old unit. He makes sure his dagger with his unit markings is visible on his person.
Alton: You’re so offput by the prescence of authority that you are unable to locate anyone associated with the caravans.
Elnrog: You find several familiar figures, including Jorgan, the commander of your old unit. He seems to be in the middle of a deep conversation with woman you don’t know.
Tolroc: The general din of the tavern blocks your attempts to listen in to conversation. To get information, you will likely have to join a discussion.
Othokent: You don’t seem to see the dragonborn of your past here in the tavern.
Tolroc will grab his mug and say to the others, "I'll mingle and see what I can find out." He'll then walk about the room and try to read the various groups of soldiers gathered. If he says anyone he knows, he'll approach them. If there are any groups that seem more open, he'll strike up a conversation and join them to see what he can learn. He'll flit around, using his natural charm to talk to the various people in the tavern and avoid those that seem like they don't want to be bothered.
Othokent merely nods, still too caught in searching for his own quarry. After even a second look reveals nothing, the lizardfolk became less animated. Instinctively, Othokent follows after Elnrog should he decide talk with his old unit unless shoo'd away. And if allowed to will stand or sit in some nearby chair/booth as to avoid being a distraction. Though the giant and clear deep interest in any conversation may just as well cause it, nevertheless.

Elnrog will attempt catch the eye of Jorgan. Waiting to approach once he is acknowledged.
"Hail Jorgan, and well met." {insert reminiscing and small talk here} "Do you know of any caravan's in needing guards heading out of town? Have you heard of the bandit problem?"
When you catch his attention, the bulky man spins around. “Elnrog! My friend, it has been far too long!” You talk with him for nearly a full twenty minutes before coming to your point. “Caravaning? I heard that’s not a very lucrative trade, these days. Perhaps they could use a man or two like you. Tell you what. I’ve got a couple of buddies I can hook you up with. HEY ARDON! I FOUND YOU SOME EXTRA SECURITY!” Another man walks over, this one slimmer, with slightly slimmed out pupils and somewhat clammy skin. ”Oh, excellent. Perhaps you’d be willing to talk about price?”
Both Othokent and Snake Eater stare at the new arrival closely, and even flick their tongues in the man's direction, trying to get a read on species; assuming he isn't human. "Our ears are open to you. Speak, Clammy one, on what would be fair enough."He glances to Elnrog, and tries to effect 'Did I do good?' look. Though the whole attempt is off-putting.
(@Hydra: Not sure what type of roll you'd need for this, if any, but here's at least a d20 to apply whatever mods: 5)

"Price we can discuss, ...... However, before we consider signing up, perhaps you can share with us some of the risk involved so that we are sure to be prepared. Namely I am curious as to the bandits we have heard about and their capabilities....Are they humanoids? Do they use magic?" Elnrog glances at the Lizard man....and tried to convey to him to keep silent. "Ah, Othokent, perhaps you can take 'Clammy One'" Elnrog will point at the snake "and go outside to hunt for rats."
Turning back to Ardon "Ah, they are an odd couple, but very effective, I promise you"

Othokent and Snake Eater turn to Ardon… and just blink at him. Then they look at each other... then back to Elnrog again and shake their heads negatively in unison. "No can do. Snake Eater already fed for most of month. Any more and become lethargic. Not so helpful. But this one appreciates armored one's concern."Othokent replies as Snake Eater bobs his head up and down in a nod at his side. He goes back to being quiet and watchful after, seeming at least to take Ardon's underlying request at heart.

@Elnrog that would be insight instead of perception, leaving you with a 20 instead.
Othokent: Ardon walks towards you, completely leaving Elnrog for the moment.

He strokes Snake Eater, and the snake hisses in a pleased manor. He handles your companion in a way you have seen few do. He speaks to you in your native draconic.
"The poor man. He doesn't understand our ways. I won't hold it against him, but you should tell him to treat your friend with more respect."
Elnrog: After speaking with Othokent for the briefest moment, he turns back to you, again speaking in common. "As far as I know, the raiders are mere thugs. Dangerous thugs, but tiny things all the same. I will allow you to hunt with me, and should my caravans leave Detris unharmed, I will pay you a fair share. Do we have a deal?"" With your roll, you feel as though he is telling you the truth.
Elnrog looks puzzled at the discussion between Othokent and Ardon.... Afterwards he reaches his hand out to Ardon, "Yes, that is fair. Let us know the when and where, and we shall join you."
"Pardon me..." Alton joins the conversation. "But I couldn't help but overhear your job offer to my friend here. Might I also offer my services?" He smiles charmingly at Ardon.
