Othokent cants his head to the side at Alton. "Little one is quite skilled. Much watch closer, and learn ways in future."He comments on, then turns his attention back to the caravan "Neither Snake Eater or this one noticed anything stranger than this places normal. Yet. But will continue to observe, to embrace Sauriv." Othokent perks up at the voice, and for the first few moments looks around for Ardon.
"This one is unfamiliar with this sorcery, so warns to give warning ahead of time. As for Ardon, waste not time wandering over thing already passed."
"Heh. Thanks. It's just practice I guess. I..." Alton hesitates. "I spent a lot of my childhood hiding from... people. Anyway!" He says, seemingly shaking off a dark memory. "Hopefully Ardon arrives soon. I don't like waiting in one place for too long, it makes it easier to be ambushed."

(Kidding... moving on..)
"Mn. Little one treated as prey here then? Place is even more like home then this one thought. Very... interesting."Othokent admits in a matter of fact tone, and would spend the next hour of waiting seeming distracted by his own thoughts on the subject. Snake Eater, on the other hand, keeps almost as much of a close eye on the caravan as she did Alton. Though the hunger is clear in her eyes, she merely stayed closeby and unnervingly watchful until a familiar scent on the wind lures her to Adron's approaching direction.
Othokent too takes note, if albeit belatedly. "Waiting period is over then. Little one known as Alton, this one believes, should find hiding place on caravan now. Before too much becomes covered, may be needed surprise." Othokent suggests. Whether Alton agrees or not, the Lizardfolk doesn't linger long for an answer before making his way to over to greet Adrom with a nod in passing, only to pause, and look back to the man. "Forget this last. You have map of route, yes? Spare one. This one could use it. Easier to predict danger."

Prey. Well I guess that's one way to put it. Alton thinks to himself. He walks up to Adrom with Othokent. "Indeed, A copy of the map would be quite useful." He says when Othokent asks for one. "If it's alright by you good sir, I'm going to make myself hidden. I'll be with you, but I can best defend you and others from within the shadows."
Elnrog waits to see if any information is forthcoming on the route..."Aye, we should look for an spots where we can expect an ambush." "Perhaps you can also point out the most dangerous parts of the route." The later he will comments to Adrom.
Before Alton heads out Elnrog will have a word with him. "I have a spell I can use to talk with you secretly -it allows me to speak to you and for your to reply- no one else can hear. However I must know your general location and you must be within 120'. Perhaps you can tie a ribbon or string to a tree and we can message each other this way."
Elnrog will also explain his ability to other members of the party discretely as well, and his plan with Alton.
Finally, he will take a spot near the head of the caravan, possibly on the first wagon or walking along side it.
"My general location huh? Fine. Look for trees with an A carved into them. Quick messaging may be useful." Alton is reluctant to reveal where he will be but belives the benefits outweigh the risks in this case. He helps finish getting the caravan ready before fading into the shadows.
Alton: You find yourself a very nice hiding spot on the caravan, remaining there as you all set out.
Othokent: Ardon turns to you when you request a map. "I don't keep a physical copy. It's all in here. Easier to avoid the bandits if there's no chance the route will fall into their hands, yes?"
Elnrog: Yes, that is correct. Ardon seems to mount a horse when you all start out, but other than that, everyone seems to be walking.
All: Preparations having been made, the caravan sets out from the city. Almost immediately after you leave the walls, the terrain becomes marshy and humid, with bugs flying all around. You travel for nearly an hour before stopping to take a quick rest. While you do, Ardon approaches on his horse. "This next bit is bound to be the most dangerous. If any of you have any more preparations to make, I suggest that you make them now."
Tolroc will tell the other’s “I can do something that may help us spot the bandits easier. It will take me about ten minutes.”
He goes a few yards away from everyone and begins softy chanting. After ten minutes, there is a great flash of light and next to Tolroc is a dappled grey winged horse. (Casts Summon Greater Steed)
Tolroc pets the great steed and feeds it an an apple. It bends low and allows Tolroc to climb on its back.
Tolroc says, "Yes. His name is Bill and we have been friends for a few years. My thought is that we can fly above and scout for trouble ahead and report back to you all what we see. To conserve his strength, we'll wait to take off just before the caravan sets out again."
Othokent swiftly nodded in agreement to Ardon. "Yesss. Very wise. This one keep in mind for future excursions now. Not know why not use sooner for self." He admits, and soon after took up position towards the head of the caravan.
Later...
As the group entered the marsh, both Othokent and Snake Eater became much more active. Wherever the caravan looked as if it might veer into a hidden mudbank, or grow close to certain fauna, Othokent promptly motions or calls out a warning. Snake Eater in the meantime often forges ahead whenever possible, or off to the side; only to come back to pass Othokent a morsel, or having run off some other critter lurking in the brush along the path. All in all, neither humidity or bugs seem to bother them much.
When the time at last came to rest, the duo opt to stay on a small patrol towards the outskirts of the camp. However, the black-scaled lizardfolk answers any motions, and following a silent debate simply shook his head at Adron. "Without knowing way ahead, too difficult to scout way properly on ground. But will stay still slightly ahead as possible to warn of danger."He simply states, and would return to his circuit for a time.
And so he did, until the bird pony drew him back to the others; a hungry look clear in his otherwise placid visage. "Risky, this one thinks. But not disapprove. Should mind fog, however. May have to fly low or walk then to keep up then if become problem. Eat this Bill if fail to accomplish goal?"

"We will land and walk if there is fog in order to stay with the caravan. No, you may not eat Bill under any circumstance," Tolroc states emphatically. Bill looks over towards Othokent, flares his nostrils once and stomps the ground with one of his front hooves. He turns away as Tolroc mounts and they ride beside the caravan keeping on the outlook for ambushes.
Alton: You see nothing inherently dangerous or threatening in the immediate vicinity, and the fog hides everything else. You will remain on guard as the caravan progresses
"They seem to be waiting on Ardon, and they expect him to arrive shortly and be on the way. I wonder if perhaps we should have followed him."
If Elnrog is aware of either Alton or Othokent he will cast Message and inform them as above.

(If no one else is doing anything...)
You wait, as Ardon said, for nearly an hour. Eventually, the caravaner arrives, looking for you all while giving directions to his men

(I did not realize that we were in fog. Tolroc will still ride Bill, but they will walk instead of fly. I'll edit my earlier post.)
