Description/Personality: Franklin is an old and kind soul. He’s lived his life through, full of love and happiness and is eager to find excitement while adventuring in his golden years. Hailing from a small halfling community, Franklin is celebrated for his elderly wisdom; however, in the larger world people may find his advice less useful. His grandfatherly drive to protect those that cannot protect themselves coupled with his adventurous ambition is what I’ve guided him out and onto the open road.
- Backstory: Franklin lived his life as a farmer in his quaint village until his children were old enough to make lives of their own. Many years ago, he found a strange blade buried in his guess. It called to him, but he had responsibilities. Now retired, he has finally answered the call of this magical weapon and seeks to make the final years of his life exciting.
- Experience as a Player: Years ago, I did freeform narrative PbP for nearly nine years and after that I started playing TTRPGs and have been at one table or another for seven years. I’ve mostly DMed, both Pathfinder and 5e, but I’ve played plenty in that time too. As I’ve gotten older, it’s harder to find time and I’m hoping the pacing of PbP will scratch that itch.
I'd say another 18 hours or so before I decide on applicants. Thank you to everybody who has applied so far, it's gonna be a hard choice to narrow down to 5 of you!
Hopefully we get a few more too. I'm not sure how I'll work out the reserves just yet.

"The most important step a person can take is always the next one." -Dalinar Kholin; Oathbringer
Hi everybody, we've had one of our players leave after finishing chapter 1, so we're looking to recruit another for the start of chapter 2.
The party have just finished putting a family to rest who were befallen by tragedy, and they have just accepted a job to escort a dwarf on a voyage to retrieve an heirloom.
The party is currently composed of:
Red - Asmodeus Tiefling Bard
Abner - Half-Elf Sorcerer (Draconic)
Therne - Ghostwise Halfling Druid (Moon)
Brozak - Red Dragonborn Paladin of Bahamut
Please read comment #1 before applying as it all still stands. Your character will most likely be introduced as a member of the crew of the ship they are soon to board or as a last minute hire for the adventure by the dwarf Ebokk Lockforge. If anybody wants to pick some other way to be introduced that fits into the framework of the story, PM me and we'll see what we can work out.
You're absolutely more than welcome to apply with a different character concept if you applied previously back at the start of May.
Character Name: Allaidh Moire Class & Race: Firbolg School of Necromancy Wizard Commissioned Art:
Personality: He's isn’t below manipulating people to get what he wants from them. His alignment is Neutral Evil (not murder-hobo-y, I hate that stuff). He comes from a society where sexuality is fluid and open. He isn’t above manipulating friends and foe alike to get what he wants. The only thing he desires in life is immortality and will do whatever it takes to obtain it. He has an obsession with spiders, and loves them. He almost seems to worship them as well.
More Description: Allaidh Moire is a Firbolg who stands about 8’1” feet tall and has white skin, with turquoise hair/fur. The hair on his head is styled into an undercut fade that is slicked back and reaches the base of his neck in length. He also has a mustache styled into a curled pencil mustache. His left eye has a ghostly white iris, and his right eye has a blood-red iris. He has a tall and slender build (similar to Caduceus from Critical Role). His left ear is adorned in a dangling ear-ring made of black iron rings, and a large dead, purple spider floating magically between the rings. His right ear has a bite taken out of the lobe. He also has a septum piercing of a large iron ring. He wears a see-through, full-bodied black lace gown with the lace taking on the appearance of spider-webs.
The finger-less gloves on his hands are also black lace with the spider-web design, and sort of hang down at the wrist like drooping cob-webs. His fingernails are painted lavender and come to sharp points.. He doesn’t wear anything below the chest region of the gown, instead showing off his ab muscles and two pierced nipples. Under the leg region of the gown he wears a pair of dark-gray silken shorts that end just below the knee in ribbons, showing off his slender, yet athletic legs.
His left leg is covered in tattoos of black spider-webs. On his feet he wears nothing, aside from an array of Gothic looking toe-rings on his left foot and with the toenails also painted lavender. Around his neck he wears a small pendant of a stained glass spider. He doesn’t use weapons, and instead arms himself with his arcane focus which is a wand made of a gnarled bit of wood covered in spider webs, with a petrified tarantula protruding and ensnared in the wood around the tip of the wand.
Backstory: Allaidh has come to Seldom Spring to gain some knowledge in his travels and quest for immortality, and and his matron deity Lolth told him that Seldom Spring would be an ideal destination for his quest.
My Experience: I've been playing, but mostly DMing for going on 4 years at this point. I'm obsessed with Dungeons & Dragons, and also run a Twitch Affiliate D&D channel called Mimics & Monstrosities.

Gash- Lvl14 Goblin Wizard - The High Court of the Aasimar Queen
Description: Yaro is a devoted follower of Valkur, though few would see him as outwardly religious. He is typically an even tempered tortle, though his rage occasionally builds up and spills over like a sudden storm battering the coast.
He has spent most of his life by the sea, and is no stranger to danger, nor adventure. The gifts which his deity has bestowed upon him make him particularly sought after by ship's captains (and the occasional smuggler) as both a healer and good-luck charm. The rumors rapidly spread through the docks of the tortle for whom it seemed good weather followed where ever he travelled. Yaro did nothing to dissuade these rumors, and kept himself gainfully employed by these captains.
Background: Recently, Yaro has been having recurring dreams the seem to be messages from his deity. The visions are vague, but have been increasing in frequency over the past weeks. He has been looking for some clues as to what these visions could mean.
My experience as a player: I've been playing 5e for about 5 years, only ever through PbP (2 young kids limits extended free-time), so I'm very used to the format. Several of these games really gained a lot of traction and ended up lasting quite a few months. I enjoy the additional time to think and process situations that this particular format affords. I can easily post a few times a day.
I'll need a name of a boat or ship they'll travel on for my back story, if I am allowed to adventure with them
Trenat Kinferrel
1st level rogue 1st level Sorcerer
I live in Florida
I used to pbp at the Core Greyhawk 3e till life got in the way
now I am retired and have plenty of time.
Tren worked on the {vessel } for a few years now cleaning the deck even scraped a few barnicals in his time of service.
He awakes to the sound of the sea rushing past the hull, his body covered in sheets used to bury men at sea
he shivers remembering falling overboard, darkness taking him as the cool ocean water filled his lungs!
Not knowing what has happened to him he panicked throwing the sheets
off startling the person who was saying his last rites
"I thought and everyone else thought you were dead"
Tren replies "Aye I feel that way but I'm sill kicking. What happened?"
"One of the booms caught ya, we rescued you and tried to bring you back
but you weren't breathing and your skin, your skin was cold to the touch"
the man shivers "At least we thought you were dead and we were going to send you off properly"
Tren nods "Well, I thank you and the captn for that but I think I want to get back to work." hopping off the cot he was on, he notes the inside of the ship is better lit than usual as he heads back up to the upperdecks gaining some astonished stares along the way. Later on he retired early rubbing his head finally feeling the bump on his head noting the crew quarters were brighter than usual but in a strange sort of way. shaking his head "That bloody boom must of hit me harder than I thought!" As the night progressed he passes out from his exhaustion His brown curly shoulder length hair tanned face with a goatee hitting the make shift pillow the six foot frame of his body hanging over the sides of the cot as usual. Then it rushes back to him in a dream the shadowy form of a dragon invades his mind its eyes staring at him "I am Parathayks and I grant my boon to you" his eyes glow and Trens heart slows his skin turns cold. then it leaves as soon as it entered shaking its head Tren could of sworn he heard "Why did I fall inlove with a mortal?" then Tren wakes
Name: Zagrot Class/Race: Orcish barbarian Description/personality: While not the longest rope on deck, Zagrot is relatively quiet and easy to get along with. The gray-skinned, tuskless orc (he filed his tusks down years ago to help blend into non-orc society) simply wants to make an honest living wherever he can, and try to forget the fact that he was tossed away by his clan like so much chaff in the wind.
Un-orcish common sense has guided Zagrot well in the civilized world, allowing him to lay low, read the social currents around him, and live a simple but stable life amongst the fairer races. Though very slow to anger, Zagrot does has an explosive temper. But many of his past employers have found this trait to be a boon; the orc is a furious rival against anybody who threatens his livelihood, his hard-acquired peace of mind, or what few friends he's found since he's ventured into city life.
Because he's spent so much time alone, Zagrot highly values anyone who calls him friend, and is fiercely loyal. He would sacrifice his own life to protect someone who showed him any degree of kindness--though he does tend to shy away from his own race.
Backstory: He's reluctant to share details of his past, but if Zagrot gets drunk enough in the company of friends, he'll tell of his clan's Great Winnowing, in which he was selected for exile when food shortages ravaged his orcish villages. Zagrot spent years fending for himself in the wilds before he finally ventured into the realm of humans out of sheer loneliness. Since then he's scrabbled a living together, roving from town to town, working brute-force labor jobs for next-to-nothing wages.
Intro to Party: Having Zagrot as part of the ship's crew is perfect. The orc got a start in the party's current harbor town (Seldom Spring?) as a dockworker, and ended up finding a "promotion" on an outgoing ship as an Ordinary Seaman. It's possible he's even the watchman, given his uncanny Wisdom for an orc. His greatest employment asset, however, is his race; even the most stalwart of pirates and raiders might think twice before assailing a ship with a full-blooded orc as a crewman.
Experience: I've been playing PnP RPGs for the past 25 years, starting with TMNT & Other Strangeness and Rifts (both Palladium games), then moving on to AD&D (yes, the first very edition), dipping my toes into Shadowrun and Savage Worlds a few times, then finally discovering 5e about a year ago. Most of my experience--aside from that in 5e--is from the Game Master side of things. I've also been part of a wonderfully run PbP campaign based in MtG's Innistrad which started in October of 2018. (Follow the link in my signature for a sample of my RP/writing style; It's all posted by our DM, Sal, but anything about Joseph the hunter is mine, copied from our Discord) I'm also an avid writer, and I'm absolutely anal-retentive about grammar, believability, and story details. :-)
Time Zone: Mountain Standard Time (Montana.) I'm able to post anywhere from 7-9am to 10pm-2am MST.
Description/personality: Ember is obsessed with knowledge of 'important' things but is not very knowledgable of social situations. He will say what he thinks with no regard for how others might feel. He really likes fire, but only when used responsibly, arson is not allowed. He is not too keen on water (so on a ship will be away from the edge at all times) As for his appearance, he is fairly tall, with red skin, coal black eyes and hair that almost seems to be made of fire. He carries little on him, but enough to get by.
Backstory: Ember was left on the streets as a young child. His mother had 3 children including him, and his father had left. She couldn't afford for all the kids and looking different, Flame was the one who was abandoned. Not that he knows any of that. He knows he was on the streets, and that he scavenged and one day found a wizards spell book. He studied it and managed to comprehend the very basics when the wizard found him. Impressed with the progress, the wizard took him on as an apprentice and he went from there. Being tied to the elemental plane of fire, evocation magic, especially fire based, came easily to him. After many years of training, and of knowledge seeking, he came across Ebokk Lockforge who let him know that there would be a great reward and knowledge to be found if he faced his fear of water and went on a trip on the Clan's Hope.
Your experience as a player: Played a bit of 3.5 and then got into 5e about 5 years ago. I have been in 4 different real-life games (and currently DM one) and have got involved with a lot of PbP games including 2 that I DM (one homebrew and one SKT)
Description/personality: Zili is a very friendly and open person, seeing life as something to be enjoined and experienced rather then hidden away or deceptive. He is first to fight and first to dance (poorly), he has a odd way of seeing the world but only makes him love it all the more. In combat he is brutal to the point of cruelty, but once the fighting ends he is smiling and joking with others as if nothing changed his mood to begin with.
Backstory: Born in a hidden monastery, trained in the martial arts to channel his natural aggression and bloodlust. Zili was always meant to be a killer, his personality didn't matter, his race wasn't important, only the mission was important. He would kill and enjoy the act, he would be a weapon. So thought many, but the monastery was found and burned. The Teachers and management killed and students were stayed imprisoned. Only few escaped, there training natural but now no grand purpose. They were soldiers and killers without a army, lost and alone to seek out a new life in a new world.
Your experience as a player: Played Dnd since 3.5 and DM for groups occasionally and play as player occasionally.
Class and Race : Rogue (eyes on Swashbuckler) Bugbear
Description and personality : She's a grizzled 52 year old deck-hand who is convinced she was born to be queen of the high seas. She is, however, getting a little impatient waiting for it to happen. Not as clever as she thinks she is. Prone to spending wistful silences staring out to sea. Risk-averse, but curious and a little impulsive which can lead to analysis-paralysis. When she encounters a problem, it's probably a dragonborn's fault.
Backstory : If her life up to now was interesting, she wouldn't still be Level 2 at her age, would she? There is a forsaken love and a lost child a long way back in her past, an unfortunate time spent as a galley slave and a few regrets that might have bought her freedom at a price she's sorry she paid, but her thoughts are of the future, her eyes are on the horizon. She's not going back.
Experience as a player - very late to the game, started on OSRs in late 2017, playing 5e since early 2018, always as PbP - I don't think there's been a time since the start where I didn't have a campaign or two on the go, except for one week which lead to my next sentence: Have DMed once, again forum-based PbP. It was.... interesting :D It left me with a love for the emergent properties of random tables, which is nice but sometimes it makes you a 52 year old Bugbear rogue with a disguise kit. I mean what is she going to disguise herself as??? If you want to find out, you know who to pick :D
(Full disclosure - I'm on Mobile exclusively in the evenings, which means occasionally I may have to sacrifice formatting and immaculate hyperlinking in order to get a post up, due to Beyond's infuriating text editor. Once it's up, I will endeavour to add in necessary formatting for appearances sake. Also, I put the u in endeavour, spellcheck be damned! Also, I will link a character sheet later, but I'm at my limit so I have to pick which baby to kill.) Correction : that would require me to buy the race and background. I'll hold off, keep the credit card on standby and hope it doesn't prejudice my application
Time Zone : UTC+1, which is what you call UK time if you're not in the UK now that Brexit is on the table.
Thank you all for the applications. A PM has gone out now, so recruitment is closed. If anybody drops out in subsequent chapters I'll come back and re-open as needed.
