With a welcoming hot spring at its heart, this small settlement between Neverwinter and Luskan has swiftly grown in popularity since its founding by retired adventurer Dirk Seldom barely a year ago.
With the construction of The Seldom Spring inn, a trading post, and a hunting lodge, it provides the essential services required by most travellers far from home. Indeed, some caravans have halved their journey by trading at Seldom Spring, instead of their original destination, and business is booming.
Growth seems inevitable, but for now the settlement remains small and vibrant.
Game Synopsis
This is a collection of adventures that takes place in the Forgotten Realms, with the intention of taking a party from level 1 to level 12. The adventures are a part of the Seldom Spring series by Barry Dore on DMsGuild. Since they are available to anybody, I would request that you do not apply to this game if you have played any of them before, or intend to play them yourself. I have found through my time on these forums that many public PbP games die out due to them being long campaigns with an endless scope. This game will consist of 8 small adventures, where anybody is free to leave and be replaced between them - with hopes that the game won't break down from lack of interest. This means that I'll keep a list of reserve players from the applicants who'll be invited to play if any of the main cast drop out.
This will be a PbP game, during which I will aim to post at least one main reply that moves the story or combat forward every day Monday to Friday with minor posts for RP or answering questions when I am able. I am looking for those of you who will interact with each other as much as you do with the DM, those of you willing to get sucked into the game and flesh out characters through inter-party dialogue. The adventures aren't teeming with roleplaying opportunities (I will be adding some of my own), so most of the RPing needs to come from you guys. I am not looking for the following: single-sentence posters, edgelords, rule-lawyers or players who attempt to dictate the actions of others.
Players of all experience levels are accepted, but please at least read the basic rules.
Ideally, I would have time zones be similar. I am GMT, and would prefer anybody within 6 hours of my time. Because of the delay between main posts, I cannot encourage players to roleplay between posts enough.
Rules
Starting at level 1. Create a character of level 2.
27 Point Buy (max. score of 15) for abilities.
One thing that is very important to me is that players proof-read their replies before posting. Bad spelling and awful grammar break immersion in my opinion.
If you fail to reply to the thread, your action will be decided for you in the most passive way possible, in the main post of the following day. Please check the thread at least daily.
If you fail to reply without informing me for 3 days, you’ll be removed. If you inform me, you can take all of the time you need with good reason.
Please feel free to inbox me any questions regarding rules.
During in-character dialogue, please select a font, style or colour to differentiate between talking out of character or describing actions, and enclose dialogue in quotation marks (“Hello.”). If you include tooltips for D&D Beyond content, you will be my favourite player. If you play on mobile, don't worry about the font - but please make sure it's distinct from other text by having dialogue on a separate line enclosed in quotation marks.
When making a roll, use a separate line and use a bold font in a similar format to the example shown. If you believe it necessary, or if it isn’t already explicit, include the damage type as part of the attack.
Guiding Bolt (Radiant): Attack: 25 Damage: 33 (on a hit, the next attack vs target has advantage)
Out of character text should be prefaced with [OoC] and included on the last line of your reply, if you think it necessary to clear up your intent.
We’re using milestone experience.
I’ll roll initiative for everybody at the start of combat, editing my post to show the order. This is to decrease the day or so it takes for each person to roll initiative, bogging down combat horrendously.
Loot will be split equally and shared out. Items will go to those who present the best argument for it (voted upon by others by ‘upvoting’ the argument). In the case of a draw, it’ll come down to the dice gods.
Finally, if you are new to PbP games, please consider what you are getting into. They are long, slow games, where a single combat can take a whole week or more. If you are impatient, please reconsider.
Applications
Please reply to the thread with the following information:
Character name.
Class and race (all classes and races are allowed except for UA, Ravnica and Eberron).
Description/personality, limited to two paragraphs (remember that RP will come mainly from inter-party dialogue - so this part is important).
You may include a backstory (if you choose not to, it won't affect your application), but please keep it concise. For whatever reason you deem fit, you've found yourself in Seldom Spring looking for work as an adventurer.
Your experience as a player.
Your time zone.
I will be deciding on the players on Friday 3rd May, with an RP thread being set up over the weekend for characters to get to know each other. The first adventure begins Monday 6th May.
Description/Personality: Thrann loves to hunt and explore. He hunts with a code, in that he only hunts beasts that are bigger than him. He'll only resort to hunting small game in case of an emergency or if a dire situation necessitates it. He's a Neutral Good aligned character, and he definitely has the go-with-the-flow ideology. He likes to live in the moment and not dwell on his future or the past. In his downtime, he enjoys a pint of mead or ale. He's honestly not too picky as long as he can get a hint of inebriation.
Backstory: Thrann hails from the Wildhammer clan. A clan that relishes freedom and travel. Much like most of his clan, Thrann has become a hunter/gatherer and seeks to explore the world so he can have many stories to share with his clanmates. He doesn't have any long-term goals in mind, but he definitely would love to settle down eventually as he gets older and bestow his wisdom and experience onto others in his clan, possibly his children if he ever becomes a father.
Your experience as a player: I've been playing D&D since last year. I've played in a Curse of Strahd campaign (and now DM'ing my own CoS campaign on PbP), and I'm currently playing in a Storm King's Thunder campaign and a Ravnica homebrew campaign. I have a friend who is starting a One Piece themed campaign and I plan on DM'ing a Waterdeep campaign eventually. I've had not much experience in PbP as a player. I joined a Tomb of Annihilation campaign on here but it was halted as the DM had to bail.
Your time zone: I'm EST, and I work an office job so I have internet access virtually all the time which grants me the ability to be an active poster.
Class/Race: Tabaxi Ranger. (Intent to dip [Very Minorly] into rogue, for personality/character flavor but will forego if not allowed.)
Description: Aisha is tiny, much like her Sister Rajiira - Barely making it to the five-foot mark. Her fur, rich and silky, would bear resemblance to a white tiger, with sinuous black stripes coursing from the center of her back, slipping like tendrils around her body and over her chest, belly, thighs, calves, arms, and face. She had an exotic allure.. for a feline. Her scaled armor had been dyed to match her fur, down to where the stripes would be if not covered, giving her the appearance of being tastefully-nude, as nothing could actually be seen. On her back, a bow that was almost as large as she was, just barely the right size for her frame to wield properly. Her eyes were sapphires among the snow of her visage, and ever the playful smirk danced upon her lips.
Personality wise, Aisha is flirty, observant, and cunning - using all of those to assist in her Cat-lord given need to peruse the pockets, or, lockchests of those who may have something worth taking, and learning from to bring back to her tribe. Despite her narcoleptic tendencies, she cares easily for those she peruses the company of for longer than intended.. holding her otherwise harder to control proclivities at bay.. atleast with them. Aisha always does her best to adapt to the situation as needed. Those who wish to find out more, will simply have to earn their way into her heart.
Breif BackgroundAisha, and her sister Rajiira, are both Tabaxi lost to time. During a great catastrophic event, her homeland, and her people were sent to Abeir-Toril, a nightmare realm, mirroring Faerun. Born as twins, a few years before their clan was, for one reason or another, returned to Faerun some hundreds of years later. Once again connected with their feline-deity, and blessed.. or cursed with wanderlust, and the thirst for knowledge, they both set out, heading their separate ways to better learn of Faerun's mysteries. All of which, has led her here...
Experience Steadily Growing experience, more than a year at this point. 800+ PBP posts, and some real life experience as well.
Timezone MST, but I check the forums regularly, even when at work, when time allows. Posting from there also when time allows. I'm as active as my current Campaigns let me be.
What I'm "Capable Of" below is my intro post to an old CP.
Azrael had been tending to the Shrine his order had built almost three years ago at the far eastern edge of town, in the north-ward, by The Cliffwatch just off of Saerdoon Street. Their Holy Building was little more than a large shack, with a pretty shrine to the Dragon-god, Bahamut sitting just off the walk-path. He had came to Waterdeep following a calling he had received through a vision several years after having become a true Acoltye of his sect. Here was where he had lived the last few years, waiting for his next sign. He was patient. His faith in his patron was absolute and unshakable, and so he waited, dutifully tending the grounds. In turn, he received shelter and a very modest living.
Three Years Later:
Azrael had just finished his priestly duties, the Shrine to Bahamut was kept impeccably clean, though his order had very little luck recruiting more to his cause and faith. A woman approached him, at first he thought she was there to ask of, or perhaps mock his beliefs. Instead, she met him curtly, curtsying stiffly before handing him a simple envelope with his name written on it.
Esteemed Mr. Azrael
It has been my duty to notice your hall is lacking, and that your order cannot seem to grow beyond the few you already posses.
I have an offer for you, if you will take it, that may help us both achieve our desired ends.
If you should decide you wish to partake, then I implore you to meet me at the Yawning Portal in Two-Days time, at the time indicated below.
I look forward to our mutually beneficial transaction.
Fat Cat.
Azrael took little time in considering, this was the sign he had been waiting for all these years. He immediately set out for his preparations, stopping by the market to gather a few needed supplies, before heading back to his temple, packing everything meticulously in his bag, every necessity he could think of, he brought with him. He then pulled his holy symbol from his neck, laying it on the table, able to stand on it's own, served as both his Arcane Focus, and his Holy Symbol a portable shrine to Bahamut hanging from his neck. Setting out candles of incense, lighting them, getting to his knee's and he would pray: Thank you Bahamut, for your providence. Long have I patiently awaited this day, and as I knew you would, you have set the hand of my fate in motion. I will not fail you, and I promise I will do my best to emulate your greatness, so that others may see the truth of your justice. I pray only that your will be done in all things. Religious intensity 10
He awoke the next day, once again proselytizing himself, praying once more before heading out, after all, he had a long walk to his favorite Tavern in the city.
Present Time:
Azrael entered the Tavern. ducking slightly to avoid the door's top as he entered, quarterstaff in hand. Several of the regulars that knew him, gasping, throwing their hands up in mock guilt. Azrael raised both his arms, saying Fear not, I assure you all, I am not here to tell you that ale is the sinners path, lo, instead I am here to partake of it myself! This had been a common joke once everyone had gotten used to the massive Dragonborn whenever he would arrive in his Acolytes Attire. Leading to a few feigned relieved sighs, and a few guffaws and chuckles before everyone more or less went back about their business.
Azrael spotted the marked table easily, as he towered over most in the tavern, and made his way there, his sinuous tail dragging behind him below his robes. As he sat down on the much thicker bench that was made to accommodate his size, and weight, though he was not fat in any sense of the word. Those already gathered would see:
Azrael stood, what to most beings, is a hulking seven feet, eight inches, towering over most humanoids, and only dwarfed by some. His appearance is striking for an Acolyte. His body looking physically well-toned in spite of wearing the attire of a caster. His bold Blue-Sapphire scales stand out in a crowd faintly gleaming in the tavern light, and his frosted-sky-blue eyes are piercing and powerful, possessing the black slitted-pupils common among Dragonkin. His tail, dragging listfully behind him whenever he walked, never making a sound. His robes are eloquent and vibrant shades of Royal-Blue, flowing around him. The trim, a brilliant Gold-Thread, of which inlay in a whirlpool of four threads towards the center as if it were the eye of a storm, where they form a circle around what appears to be a Platinum Dragon, suspended in midair. The dragons' head would appear to be looking directly at whomever it was facing. Six leathered Angellic wings spreading out in the cardinal directions. Upon his neck, hanging from a simple, but strong chain, you would see his Holy-Symbol, Marking him as a Follower of Bahamut, encircling a vibrantly swirling Violet-Orb that was his Arcane-focus, ultimately fusing them both into a single entity. Most would feel a mixture of intimidation, and benevolence exuding from the aura of his presence. And there always seemed to be a charge in the air around him. Ultimately, you would sense from him absolute, steadfast conviction in his beliefs, and the raw confidence that comes with it.
After having adjusted himself to be comfortable, he would offer those gathered already a hearty greeting, his hand crossing over his chest as he closed his eyes and bowed to the assembled. Greetings all, we are all here on this auspicious day for what I assume to be a common cause, even if our reasons for being here are not the same! My name is Azrael Zifandiel, Acolyte of the Dragon god Bahamut, if that was not already obvious. He would rise from his bow, placing his hands on the table, and ordering the special from the Barmaid closest, waiting for them to arrive once the order was taken. Regardless, I hope you are all blessed today in the light of Bahamut, and I have prayed that we all find success, regardless of our reasons for being here. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintances.
Abner is a bit of an absent-minded child at heart – curious, fun-loving, kind-hearted, occasionally foolish, and easily distracted. He has dark hair and a full beard (unusual for a half-elf), a boyish grin, and faint brown scales. Abandoned by his mysterious human(?) father and orphaned by the loss of his sickly elven mother, Abner was raised an outcast in an elven community before retreating to the edge of civilization. He became a hermit, making a modest living mending items for rural human communities. But work has become thin, and Abner has become bored. He's wandered into Seldom Spring looking for pay, and maybe for something new.
My experience: I was a heavy AD&D player (DMing mostly) from maybe 1979-83. I took a 35 year break, and only dove into 5e in the past year or so. I've been participating in another PBP since January.
Description: Much more comfortable with animals than with people, Therne is a bit abrupt and not exactly a master negotiator - things would be so much easier if people just always told the truth. And her village was extremely isolated, so she’s not familiar with non-halflings (so big!), but she’s taking it all in with a sort of dogged determinedness. Being less than 3 feet tall, she’s found that most of these big folk underestimate her no matter what she does, and she’s both learning to take advantage of it and finding new friends who sympathize, and who don’t look at her as strangely as some of the people at home did.
Backstory: Therne had long grown tired of feeling like an outsider in her tiny village, but it wasn’t until a charming, roguish outsider caught her by surprise that she even realized that leaving was an option, and she hasn’t looked back since, though that doesn’t mean she hasn’t had some regrets along the way.
Experience: I’ve played a little bit - I’m in one in-person campaign, and a discord one. I’ve played a PbP oneshot, so I have an idea of the speed and timeframe (all 5e). I’ve played a Druid before, but I didn’t really get to dig into the wildshape tanking options, which I’m hoping to do at least a little here, but I like druids because they can be a lot of things that a party needs as called for.
Description/Personality Nick is olive skinned, with dark brown hair and deep green eyes. He’s tall and lean, and has a large scar from his jaw to his collar bone. He wears darker, dull clothing, along with a green scarf he uses to cover up his scar.
Personality-wise, Nick is polite and quiet, but really opens up when he considers you a friend. When on missions/jobs, he likes to scout ahead to make sure his companions stay safe. He is a dependable guy who will go the distance for anyone close to him.
Backstory Nick grew up in his adoptive parents home in a small village where nothing ever happened. So when an officer in the army posted up a notice for joining, Nick was one of the first in line. He spent the next few decades as a scout and an infiltrator to find documents and maps in the enemy strongholds and camps. He left the army because he was tired of the orders, and wanted to do something that he considered more important than squabbles between two lords.
Experience I’ve played pbp before and I’m playing a few pbp games currently, and one real world every few weeks.
Description/Personality: Adri is extremely optimistic, making her quite annoying sometimes. She is extremely devoted to Selûne, goddess of the moon. She is pretty superstitious and thinks that Selûne is always trying to speak to her. She will stop and help anyone in need due to her lonely past, she doesn't want anyone to live like she did. She is quite prideful though. She believes that she is the best cleric of Selûne and anyone who says otherwise may get a few insults or crossbow bolts thrown in their direction. She is about 5'7" and well built. She hasn't been properly trained for fighting, but she is half orc after all so she is hearty. She has the prominent bottom teeth and pale green skin, making it impossible to try and pass as human. She has flowing black hair and piercing blue eyes.
Backstory: Adri's mother abandoned her when she was young and a priest of Selûne took her in and cared for her. The priest's name was Jahaal and he wasn't the most affectionate caregiver. He spent most of his time working and Adri spent most of her time reading about Selûne or history. Once she got older she decided to start adventuring around and when she returned to the temple, Jahaal had passed. She felt like she had betrayed him for leaving him alone in his final years, now she has devoted herself to Selûne and helping others.
Your experience as a player: I've only been playing for about 6 months now. I'm currently involved in a LMoP campaign on discord and I am in one other PbP game.
Timezone: EST and I am a college student working part time, so I do have a lot of downtime where I have my laptop available to reply on.
Description / Personality: Saaria inherited most of her physical features from her mother's side of the family, specifically her long brown hair, dark blue eyes, and light olive skin tone. Her natural poised stride makes her seem taller than expected when she walks into a room, only being 5'10. Despite being a noblewoman, she typically adorns herself in simple adventuring garments, with exceptions of wearing exquisite costumes to perform for those around her. Keen on making her family proud of their eldest daughter, Saaria sought out new adventures and managed to stumble across Seldom Spring.
Personality wise, Saaria holds herself as a generous and humble person. She treats her servants and those under them with dignity and respect, always wary of making sure she doesn't cross any explicit boundaries. Saaria holds herself and those around her to a high standard, however sometimes she gets carried away and causes a scene when someone challenges her morals or true personality. She's in essence sweet and sour candy.
Experience: I haven't done an incredible amount of time of actual game play (several months worth), however I mainly drew inspiration to get into actual campaigns from watching live streams and other videos whenever I had some spare time (several years worth). They helped me build a good foundation of what was going on in said videos and eventually, I decided to play in several mini campaigns only and a face to face one shot. These encounters were helpful in further solidifying some basic knowledge for campaigns and with that experience under my belt, I want to tackle more lengthy and immersive campaigns!
Personality wise Stump isn’t too concerned with much, he just wants to know he did a good job and was helpful. Not too much into the particulars and details, but has a strong sense of right and wrong and isn’t afraid to voice his concerns in an allbeit blunt manner.
background: Stump was found as a lone child in the forest by a Druid encampment out on a scavenging hunt. With no family appearing to be present after some time, they offered the giant child to stay with them. Making his home on the inside of an old and hollow stump inside the camp. That’s how he got his name. As he became of age he decided to set out on a journey mandated by the tribe to gain wisdom and strength; in order to eventually become a leader to his adopted home. This part of his pilgrimage has lead him to Seldom Spring.
Been doing PBP for the past year or so. DMing one game myself.
I have a number of characters I could play, but one that I think would be fun would be:
Name: Otheym Fedaykin
Race/Class: Aarakocra Monk
Personality/Backstory: Otheym is old for an Aarkocra (24 years), and has had a full life raising chics and defending the roost. For his retirement he's chosen to leave the safety of the mountains and travel, to see the world. This makes him very curious about all social customs and behaviors, as most are very different from anything he's seen or experienced before. He's generally happy to be surprised by what he sees others doing, which comes so natural to them. He's also become rather enamored with beer/mead/wine, as there was none where he came from (and he'll go Drunken Monk at lvl 3).
My experience: I'm DMing SKT here with friends IRL, but want to keep playing when not planning, so have joined a few campaigns here on ddb, though as you know, many fall apart :(
My time zone: GMT +8
I think you've got a good way of looking at PbP, and hope the campaign works out well~
"Ally" if that is her real name, seems to have a secret or two. She is always quick to scan a room for familiar faces and look the other way. She chatters on a bit in conversation and can sometimes contradict herself. She has bright red hair is curly to the point of frizzles.
Ally is on the run from a far kingdom and trying to escape from the shadow of her family's crimes. She finds herself in Seldom Spring looking for work as an adventurer.
Experience goes back to AD&D. DMing a PbP and in a couple of others. I appreciate the intention of consistent posts and RP.
Just a point to note, don't worry about duplicate classes or anything like that. I'm honestly judging people more on how they write and their post history. I'm aware that 90% of people would be happy to make another character if I asked them to be involved. Also, don't be dissuaded from applying if there are a lot of posts, as I'll be reading every application.

"The most important step a person can take is always the next one." -Dalinar Kholin; Oathbringer
Description/personality: Madaway is laid back....very laid back, an unkind person might call him lazy and if he were to be honest its not far from the truth. He likes people, all sorts of people...some in smaller doses than others but he'll go out of his way to help anyone who needs it. Not overly prone to violence he's unfortunately had to defend himself a little more often than he'd like the last few years.
Backstory: Manaway was a strange lad, never really interested in working at his parents lumber yard and spent most of his youth roaming the woodlands and assisting the rather elderly tender of the Sacred Pool near his village. He learnt some stuff from both parents and cleric...mostly by osmosis rather than actual study. He grew up, was a lacklustre sawman and really didn't feel like taking over looking after the Pool...though he promised the goddess he'd do so if he ever retired which was growing closer day by day.
At 35, he decided to strike out on his own...well that was too much effort but he did offer to escort a load of lumber to Longsaddle....lumber, not a common target of bandits or stone giants or stone giant bandits. In short order everyone else was dead and he was staring up at a very large club, he wasn't sure if it was the goddess or just blind desperation but he saw a gash on the giants foot and leaned forward and healed it. And thats how he ended up spending six years preaching the word of Eldath ( what he could remember anyway) to the Granite Gang in The Crags....and then the wyverns came.....and now he's in Seldom Spring looking for work as an adventurer....well any work really.....
Your experience as a player: 35 years of Gming and playing rpgs, currently run 4 PbPs only started playing D&D last year with 5e.
Your time zone: I manage to post at least once a day without fail to my other PbPs so I don't forsee an issue there.
Description/personality: Landrae has a strong character, she is quick witted, flirty, and sometimes scathing in her rebukes. Her favoured weapon is her wit, and will play on words to catch the unwitting in a linguistic trap or to concur with a jest at their expense. It is a rare sound indeed for her to say something with one word when a sonnet would fail to convey the full import of a simple acknowledgement or refusal. Always keen to meet people she is a social butterfly, flitting between the wealth of nobility and the toils of the common folk. She is flamboyant and believes that if something is worth doing, it is worth doing with flair, and will impress the importance of that upon her comrades. Within the party she will be the fire that inspires them and the fool that rains merriment whilst chained to a dungeon wall. Physically, she is a grey haired, average height, lithe and attractive half-elf. Her fashion sense is not for the faint of heart, when she has the luxury to indulge herself.
Backstory: Landrae had an incident with the nobility in a place she'd rather not name, and an unfortunate run in with a particularly vindictive bit of memory magic. Her travels have now brought her to Seldom Spring where she seeks to start her own tale of adventure, lest her minstrel's ways dwindle and leave her in obscurity. *Note* - Landrae was retired from anothercampaign, as I took over the DM's role. Her backstory was fleshed out as part of that, but can be tweaked or amended to suit a new campaign.
Your experience as a player: I played D&D 2nd Ed, then took a long hiatus and have returned to PbP play on DDB over the last 6 months or so. I am a fan of characterization, and try to give each of my characters a life of their own, however short-lived that might be. I think I have joined about 8 or nine campaigns of which most died out prematurely. I'm now trying my hand behind the screen too, but still like to roll dice and not know if that chest is a mimic.
Description/personality: Berrian is obsessed with all things nature but is not very knowledgable of social situations. He will say what he thinks with no regard for how others might feel. Always wanting to talk to people, but probably not the person you would want to be talking to people, Berrian is keen to impress with his knowledge of nature that most people will find irrelevant, or on things he notices that often don't matter (like how someone is wearing two left shoes). He (mostly) will instantly trust people unless they are obviously lying. As for his appearance, he has very elven features, the pointed ears, slender body etc, however, the difference comes with the colouration and the hair. Ordinarily, you would find him with a pale yellow skin tone and his hair full of buds and blossom, however, depending on his mood, you would sometimes find him with blue skin and dead twigs for hair after a sad day, or browner skin and orange leaves for hair after a contented day, and sometimes even red skin and hair almost like rays of sun after a day filled with aggression.
Backstory: Berrian grew up in the feywild but after plucking a flower that he hadn't seen before to examine it further managed to annoy an archfey as it was their prize flower. To escape this archfey's wrath, Berrian fled the feywild and used his knowledge of nature to help treat wounds in Seldom Spring, as well as protect from attacks when it was needed.
Your experience as a player: Played a bit of 3.5 and then got into 5e about 5 years ago. I have been in 4 different real-life games (and currently DM one) and have got involved with a lot of PbP games (including the one that PolarBearSoup above took over).
Your time zone: GMT (Well technically BST currently)
PERSONALITY: Skittish and shy, Valentine is a good person at heart but suffers from lack of self-confidence. Being 19, he is often naïve and handles social interactions awkwardly at times. Valentine has very pale skin and short black hair with smokey grey eyes. He wears a fine, if a bit dull, clothes that have definitely seen better days upon his lanky frame. Valentine doesn't like to be in the limelight for too long and doesn't mind not getting recognition for his actions, especially if it means his background is investigated.
BACKSTORY: Valentine grew up in a noble family that had a lot of political influence and was entered into a fiendish contract from birth, a tradition passed down for generations. He grew up with the pact and learned how to handle it well enough. But something didn't sit right with him. It might have been the fact that his parents often used magic to enchant people to do their bidding and sway people in their favour. It might have been the fact that once the cellar was on fire and the deep infernal chanting drifting up the stairs that gave him nightmares for... for too long. Something didn't sit right with him. So, on his 18th birthday, he escaped, and vowed to right the wrongs of his corrupt family. (Will definitely expand upon this!)
EXPERIENCE: I've had quite a bit of experience with D&D 5e (about 3 years) and with pbp games (about 1 year), I've even DMed one!
TIMEZONE: AEST (UTC +10) Australian Eastern Standard Time. G'day? So I might not be awake while a lot of you guys are :(
Personality: Brozak is confident in his abilities, perhaps a bit too confident. He has faith in his God Bahamut, but knows that others have faith in different deities, and that is alright as well. He doesn't trust strangers very much, but once he gets to know you and trust you, his loyalty is everlasting. Brozak Knows that sometimes, hard decisions must be made, and that the needs of the many should always outweigh the needs of the few, but if possible, we should protect the few.
Backstory: As a child, his clan was attacked. Brozak doesn't know by what. His family was killed, but he was taken in by a kindly priest of Bahamut. Brozak owes his life to that priest, and honors him by serving Bahamut as a paladin. He wants nothing more than to grow in strength in order to honor his god. He knew that the priesthood wasn't for him, so when he was of age, he began to train with the sword, while continuing his religious studies. He wants to spread the faith in Bahamut, to all races, while protecting those that cannot protect themselves.
Experience: I have DMed 5E for my home group and my school gaming club, but I play more in my home group. This will be my first play by post. School is winding down so I won't have any issues being able to post. I have really been looking forward to trying one of these so I may post too much.
Time Zone: GMT -6 CDT I'm in Texas y'all.

Brozak - Red Dragonborn Paladin, lvl 2, Never Winter, Seldom Spring
Description/personality : Ivory has a head of long silvery white locks that falls about half way down her back. It’s usually tied up with a variety of braiding styles depending on how she feels. She is of slender build, has icy blue eyes and a pale but healthy skin tone. She tends to be quite subtle in her body language but her facial expressions are still not yet as well controlled as her actions. Upon initially meeting Ivory, she would seem to be a little standoffish and rather watchful, not one to say much but very attentive to her surroundings. She would be polite and friendly to those who are friendly to her but wouldn’t hesitate to fight those who wish her harm. She also prefers actions over words, judging others in the same way. Due to being raised away from major civilisations and only recently starting her travels, Ivory is still getting used to interacting with all the different races and people as well as sights and events that are completely new to her, some times seeming to lack common sense in social situations (but will attempt to utilise her charm, or her daggers, to get by). Although it takes a while for her to warm up to people, once she gets to know them Ivory will be good natured, rather helpful and makes a trustworthy ally.
Backstory : Ivory was found, adopted and raised by a Druid circle when she was left alone in the mountains as a baby. Compared to the Druid practices she was taught as she grew up, she found herself to have a natural talent in archery after being introduced to it by a passing ranger. Since then, she would often train by herself in the woods and hunt down any animals or monsters that caused trouble in the area, gradually taking up a self appointed protective role in the circle. Even though she was liked and even doted on by the head elder of the Druid circle who raised her as his own, many others felt doubtful regarding her lack of compassion and respect for the nature as she would let loose arrows without hesitation as she hunted. Shortly after the elder’s passing, the circle made an excuse to send her away, encouraging her to explore the world as she always wanted to. Although strongly attached to the land she was born and raised in, Ivory felt that it was time for her to seek out her own adventure and joined a caravan that passed through the woods as their security, traveling onwards with them towards their destination — Seldom Spring.
Experience : I’m very much a newbie to DnD, being introduced to Critical Role earlier this year and falling in love with this style of gaming mixed with role playing. I’d like to think I know most of the theories (and am very willing to learn otherwise) but have yet to experience playing in an actual story. However I have played CoC before with friends which has a similar system and do have pretty extensive role playing experience for many years with OCs so I am aware of all the etiquettes associated with it.
Class and race: Kenku Monk (planning on Way of Long Death)
Description/personality/backstory: Chirper stands at roughly 5 feet when he stands straight, but his hunched posture leaves him nearly a foot shorter than normal. His ragged feathers and bony body are even more accented than the usual Kenku, with the flesh and feathers beginning to rot away. He looks almost as if he is a walking corpse, and the offsetting mimicry of the Kenku only strengthens this image. This rotting image has driven Chirper to study mortality and death, in hopes of avoiding suffering the same fate.
Cast out from society, Chirper has lived as a vagabond and an urchin, attempting to steal and survive his way across the world. This shows in his actions. A compulsive thief and sneak, Chirper attempts to steal things not for the value, but just because he can. He enjoys the challenge, and will attempt to find that challenge wherever he can. Yet, despite this, Chirper is not necessarily a bad man. He goes whichever way the wind takes him, and the winds have driven him to Seldom Spring, looking for opportunity
Experience as a player: I’ve been playing here on PBP for 8 months or so, and face-to-face for another year beyond that, all in 5th Edition
Description/Personality/Backstory: As a child, Raggs Malxis was a toady to the neighborhood bullies in Neverwinter. Because of course the Tiefling was the bad guy, everyone expected it. And of course if I joined them, they wouldn't bully me quite so much. But I grew increasingly ashamed. They don't not bully me, just less. Eventually there came a breaking point, and I turned on them. I went off to Bard college to escape the gangs and my family and the disrespect all Tieflings suffer.
I had always used humor to deflect people's mistrust of Tieflings or direct mockery elsewhere. At college I found Bards more accepting than most, and came to think of performance in a more positive light. I developed the idea that other people's freedom was worth fighting for too. I took the virtue name "Redemption" as I set out to do good in the world. I've somehow landed in Seldom Springs.
Red uses humor and wordplay and song lyrics in his speech. He uses self-depreciation often, which edges into bitter sarcasm when it comes to topics of his heritage and oppression. He varies the way he addresses people based on education, profession, social status, etc - because language matters. He is generally kinder to his friends than himself, but when he is feeling shame or anger his worst insults come out.
Experience: I played a lot of AD&D and other RPGs and wargames back in the 80's. I got re-interested when my kids picked it up, especially helping my youngest work out his character for a live game. I have been reading and thinking a lot since then. I was in a PbP (with Wak, application above as Ally Kazam the Gnome Wizard) but the DM ghosted on us.
I am on US east coast time (5 hrs difference). I work from home and can easily post several times a day.
Seldom Spring
Create a character of level 2.Applications
Please reply to the thread with the following information:
I will be deciding on the players on Friday 3rd May, with an RP thread being set up over the weekend for characters to get to know each other. The first adventure begins Monday 6th May.
"The most important step a person can take is always the next one." - Dalinar Kholin; Oathbringer
DM: Waterdeep: Dragon Heist
Personality wise, Aisha is flirty, observant, and cunning - using all of those to assist in her Cat-lord given need to peruse the pockets, or, lockchests of those who may have something worth taking, and learning from to bring back to her tribe. Despite her narcoleptic tendencies, she cares easily for those she peruses the company of for longer than intended.. holding her otherwise harder to control proclivities at bay.. atleast with them. Aisha always does her best to adapt to the situation as needed. Those who wish to find out more, will simply have to earn their way into her heart.
Occassional Dungeon Master.
Abner
Half-Elf Sorcerer

Character Nick Vult
https://ddb.ac/characters/11025159/r3BXSW
Class/race Wood Elf Rogue
Timezone CST or GMT-5
Personality wise, Saaria holds herself as a generous and humble person. She treats her servants and those under them with dignity and respect, always wary of making sure she doesn't cross any explicit boundaries. Saaria holds herself and those around her to a high standard, however sometimes she gets carried away and causes a scene when someone challenges her morals or true personality. She's in essence sweet and sour candy.

I have a number of characters I could play, but one that I think would be fun would be:
PbP 🎲: Tyekanik; Moneo Noree; Korba Muris; & occasional DM:
Just a point to note, don't worry about duplicate classes or anything like that. I'm honestly judging people more on how they write and their post history. I'm aware that 90% of people would be happy to make another character if I asked them to be involved. Also, don't be dissuaded from applying if there are a lot of posts, as I'll be reading every application.
"The most important step a person can take is always the next one." - Dalinar Kholin; Oathbringer
Landrae has a strong character, she is quick witted, flirty, and sometimes scathing in her rebukes.
Landrae had an incident with the nobility in a place she'd rather not name, and an unfortunate run in with a particularly vindictive bit of memory magic. Her travels have now brought her to Seldom Spring where she seeks to start her own tale of adventure, lest her minstrel's ways dwindle and leave her in obscurity.
*Note* - Landrae was retired from another campaign, as I took over the DM's role. Her backstory was fleshed out as part of that, but can be tweaked or amended to suit a new campaign.
I played D&D 2nd Ed, then took a long hiatus and have returned to PbP play on DDB over the last 6 months or so. I am a fan of characterization, and try to give each of my characters a life of their own, however short-lived that might be. I think I have joined about 8 or nine campaigns of which most died out prematurely. I'm now trying my hand behind the screen too, but still like to roll dice and not know if that chest is a mimic.
Bring out your inner chatacter class...
After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)
NAME: Valentine Wynston
CLASS/RACE: Human Warlock of the fiend
G'day? So I might not be awake while a lot of you guys are :(
Name: Brozak
Race and Class: Red Dragonborn Paladin of Bahamut
Character name : Ivory Silverfern
Class and race : Half Elf Ranger
Description/personality : Ivory has a head of long silvery white locks that falls about half way down her back. It’s usually tied up with a variety of braiding styles depending on how she feels. She is of slender build, has icy blue eyes and a pale but healthy skin tone. She tends to be quite subtle in her body language but her facial expressions are still not yet as well controlled as her actions.
