What lies beyond the Trackless Sea in the world of Toril has always perplexed the citizens of Neverwinter. Rumors have it that great undiscovered continents with untold wealth lie there, but many dismiss them as fireside tales. As with many rumors and tales, a grain of truth is always present. The continent of Austrilis lies in this perilous sea with a great many countries. One such country is the Country of Comstalia. King Lacerca currently rules the country from the tallest mountain in the center of the country, Unus Mons, in the city Rexstalia. Four lords rule below him over the four major cities: Lord Nesteris rules the port city of Norstalia, Lord Eura rules the city of Eastalia, Lord Salari rules the city of Soutstalia and Lord Waxston rules the city of Westalia. And thus are story begins with Alerion Fullbright as he explores the history a mysteries of the land Comstalia.
Alerion Fullbright is a man full of pride and confidence. Growing up with his Mom, Dad and eight year younger sister in Northalia, Alerion always knew he had a knack for the mysteries of the ancient world. He would always tell his family that “the world just speaks to me.. I feel like it is always trying to communicate its story.” As a budding young adult, Alerion decided to pursue his passion of the history of the world and attended the academy in Westalia. After years of hard, strenuous studying, Alerion emerged successful and even fancied himself onto one of the leading archaeological teams under professor Zalta exploring the mysteries of Unus Mons. The four other members accompanying Alerion in his exploration are Soddard (a human male in his 40s leading the expedition), Reese (a human male that graduated a year ahead of Alerion), Cora (a human female around the same age as Alerion and graduated with him. Alerion has feelings for her) and Martha (an old human female in her 50s that is an expert on the old runes that supposedly litter the cave). This team, after a long 2 day hike from Westalia, has rested well the night before and find themselves eating breakfast before they venture into the caves underneath Unus Mons.
Alerion is excitedly looks around an area for the 100th time, excited for any further details that might have been missed with which to glean further mysteries from the area. Speaking hastily and oblivious to the food. The group sits around a campfire though mostly Alerion is speaking while others eat, though Soddard was going to discuss the ruins, he has mostly given up and decided to eat for now.
"Think of what we could find! There were barely any books at the academy that even mentioned this area! We might be the fist ones here in hundreds of years! Cora, Reese isn't it so exciting!"
Cora looks at Alerion and says "You are always so excited about those sort of things! I swear you have enough passion for the group of us."
Reese pipes up and says "Maybe if you spent some more time working out instead of reading books you would have some real fun with some ladies. Haha"
Soddard rustles through his backpack and pulls out a parchment and says "Alright quiet down everyone. Just a reminder we are getting into some uncharted ruins here please try to avoid touching anything. We don't need to disturb anything before we record it."
"I mean how could I not, after those years at the academy we're finally doing something real and anything could be down there!"
Alerion has a grimacing smile after the remark from Reese.
"I do think I had plenty of fun with my books at the academy, I know quite well who err... what I'm interested in."
He blushes slightly and looks down for a moment running a hand through his hair. After Soddard speaks he brightens up again.
"We are graduated from the academy Soddard sir, we well know procedure. I'll find a way to contain myself. What brings us to this cave in the first place anyway? Surely now that we have arrived you can tell us some more details about what we are expecting to find here."
Soddard looks at Alerion and says "If I could tell you more than I would. Professor Zalta got word that this cave had some unknown markings in it. He expressed to me that he has never even seem them before and Zalta has been around the world and is one of the best experts we know. That is why it is important to not disturb anything so we can record it correctly. If I was going to make a guess though, I think it is just some archaic language of some mountain dwarves that never left their cave. So don't get your hopes up for anything truly exciting."
Alerion listens intently as Soddard explains before speaking, "Well whatever we find, can't beat being on a site! So, what is our plan of entry? Are we going to try to scope it out at all today, or are we going to worry about it tomorrow? I'd love to get started on some part of it, however menial. Just to get the ball rolling you understand."
Soddard looks at Alerion and says "We will scope it out today and depending on how big the cave is, we may have to wait til tomorrow to start the real dirty work."
OOC: let me know when you are ready to leave camp or you can continue talking to your comrades
Alerion, in an either sure excitement or in an attempt to impress Cora, effortlessly jolts up the hill to the caves entrance. Soddard breathing heavily throws a rope to Alerion and says "Tie this to a tree and help us out. Some of us aren't as young as we used to be."
After everyone makes it to the top, you notice the entrance to the cave. It is a small entrance no more than 4 feet by 4 feet. There is a pile of rocks in front of the entrance. This must of just recently happened.
OOC: I will have to post with a map soon for the cave.
Alerion ties the rope to a tree at the top with helps the other four members up the hill. As Reese passes by, he hears him mutter under his breath "Show off". After everyone makes it to the top, you notice the entrance to the cave. It is a small entrance no more than 4 feet by 4 feet. There is a pile of rocks in front of the entrance. This must of just recently opened. As Alerion approaches, he feels the unmistakable cold air of an underground cavern. This goes deep, he thought. He steps into the entrance and about 15 feet ahead of him, he sees an old, partially rotten wooden door.
OOC: You are entering a dark cave so either you need to carry a torch or ask someone else to carry the torch. Also since you don't have your powers yet, you will only be able to use your weapons for now.
I approach the wooden door while looking at the walls for anything interesting and make sure it seems fit to open and doesn't show any signs of being disturbed.
Alerion approaches the door and notices that the door handle is basically rotten out of the door. This door is very old, or at least very decomposed. He opens it to reveal a room. He puts the torch in the room to reveal a room about 15 by 25 feet. The walls are smooth, this was obviously carved out, but surprisingly nothing seems to be in the room. You see two doors in the room. One on the southern wall and one on the eastern wall.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"This door seems locked, Cora, I do remember you have a love of ancient locks, or if anyone has a knock spell prepared. It doesn't seem trapped in any way." This other door seems to be unlocked. If it seems safe enough, (use my roll for north) I'll open it and peek through.

"Well I won't speak for everyone, but I am certainly ready to go if my enthusiasm has bled into anyone else."
The five members grab their day packs and head up a steep side of a mountain face. Please roll an athletics check

I'll tie the rope in the mean time.

"It's pretty dark in here Soddard. Does it seem safe enough to light up a torch to you?"
"I'd love to light or lead the way, but you are the expedition leader sir."
Soddard lights a torch, hands it to Alerion and says "By all means, lead the way."
I approach the wooden door while looking at the walls for anything interesting and make sure it seems fit to open and doesn't show any signs of being disturbed.
If everything is koshur. I open it.
Alerion approaches the door and notices that the door handle is basically rotten out of the door. This door is very old, or at least very decomposed. He opens it to reveal a room. Investigates the doors in this room.

"Do we want to split up to get a better look around?"
As you investigate the southern door, you find out that it is locked and still looks pristine. The East door appears to be unlocked.
