As Reese walks to the door to open it, a weird glow seemed to emanate just briefly before a click occurred. Reese paused for a second, then grab the handle and opened the door. As Alerion walked into the room he noticed that despite the age of the caves around him, this door was pristine as if it was just hung yesterday. "This was similar to the other door in the first room" he thought. Inside the next room, Alerion looked with an intense stare. Three stone statues about 6ft tall laid in front of him. One carried a staff in his hand, the other remained weaponless and the third a sword. "Interesting" he thought. Besides the statues, nothing seemed to be inside the room except for some cobwebs and a few spiders scurrying away from the door. "Spiders..." Reese thought "Why is it always spiders?"
Reese seems to ignore you as you brush past him and inspect the statues. You notice the markings are similar to the ones on the sarcophagi earlier. You notice that each of the three statues has a circular hole in the base about the size of a fist. These statues, similar to the door seem to not have aged as the first few rooms.
Reese responds and says "Yes, yes, I am just lost in thought. I think I have seen the markings on these statues before. Especially this one!" Reese motions to the one with a staff. He walks towards it and slowly touches the statue.
Reese replies "I am not sure. Wait a second." He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a circular object. He leans down and says seemingly to himself "Look the lines seem to match."
As Alerion approaches Reese voicing his concerns he can see Reese place the stone into the socket. The statue begins to vibrate as a green cracks begin to etch up the legs, into the body of the statue. The statue radiates with magical energies that spread into the world around it. When, before Alerion could even react there was an explosion and the world went black.
As Alerion comes to, he is greeted by a loud ringing in his ears. "What happened?" He thought. "Where am I?" another voice says. Alerion, looks around frantically for whoever said that, but only see the collapsed bodies of Reese and Cora.
As Alerion moves over to check Reese he see that he is bleeding out. He attempts to remove the the stone lodge in his stomach and bandage it but he is does not tie the bandage correctly and blood continues to drain onto the floor.
"OH NO! OH NO!" he thinks. I need to help Cora too.
Alerion rushes over to Cora and notices she is not breathing. He tries to blow into her mouth to help her breath, but his hands are too slippery to keep her nose closed correctly.
After attempting to bring both his comrades back to life, he realized why he went into the Archaeology instead of medicine.
As Alerion moves back over to the where the statue stood, he looks at the base and sees the runestone placed in there. "What happened?" he thought and then he looked closer and remembered. "No, no, that rune is upside down! Reese you idiot.'
Some strange curiosity causes me to attempt to fit the runestone the correct way into the statue holding nothing and (if nothing happens) the one holding a sword.
Then if nothing happens I would like to try to go through the Northwest door.

As Arlerion inserts the runestone into the statues. The busted one, nothing happens. The other two, the markings don't match up and as you insert the runestone in, nothing happens.
The northwest door is unlocked.

As you walk in the room, you see a giant centipede across the room at the northern wall. It reels up on its legs and begins to charge at you.
As I dodge aside in time to avoid the Centiped, surprise coursing through my body, I struggle to come up with a method of attack after the encounter with the kobald I failed so miserably earlier. Suddenly I hear a voice in my head again. "I can see you haven't done this before, let me show you." and my body suddenly is not my own. My hands and even my tongue move on my own in an explosive motion and Tendrils of Dark energy erupt from me and batter the centipede. Arms of Hadar

"Who is this voice" I think. (He thinks in addition to what is this power.)
I rush out of the ruins assuming there is no one I run into until I get outside.
As I run into Soddard and Martha outside, I rapidly attempt to effuse what happened to them.
"There was a Kobald, and Reese saved me, but in the next room there were these statues and Reese started acting weird and he put something in the statues and it exploded and when I woke up they were both bleeding out, and I tried to save them, but I coudln't do it!" Slowly descending into tears as I reach the end. Only after this catharsis do I take in the state of Soddard and Martha.
Soddard looks at Alerion and says "I feared the worse when I heard the explosion. I came looking for you but the roof had collapsed near the door that which you entered. We will have to go in and retrieve their bodies, but it is already getting night time. We will leave tomorrow morning. You lay down and we will take care of the rest. Sleep in my tent tonight. It will help me keep watch on us all."
Martha says nothing and just stares at you with a disappointing look.
Alerion still in tears, heads to Soddard's tent to prepare to rest. As he heads inside he hears a voice say to him "They know too much." Why are these voices haunting him now. After changing into some clothes, Alerion lays down and tries to get rest for the evening.
Sleep found Alerion quickly, but his rest was broken sometime after when he heard some unfamiliar voices from outside the tent. Staying as motionless as possible he listened closely. He could hear Soddard say "Yes, yes I know you are the Dark Riders, but I told you that Reese is dead and I have no idea what stone you are talking about." Martha chimes in and says "We have told you everything, now leave us alone. We would like to sleep and leave tomorrow morning." A deep voice of a man that Alerion had not heard before quickly followed "Leave? Now, now we can't have that. We appreciate your honesty. KILL THEM." Martha lets out a quick scream that is cut short quickly as a thump is heard from something hitting the ground. The sounds of footsteps and running is heard going away from the tent. The man yells "After him!" A large amount of footsteps is then heard going in the same direction.

"Reese did you see what that door did as well? You still feel alright?"
"After the state of disrepair the entrance was in, it is interesting that these are so pristine further in. I wonder who these might have been"
I go to investigate for inscriptions on the statue.

"Reese? Are you okay?" I wave my hand in front of his face?

Reese responds and says "Yes, yes, I am just lost in thought. I think I have seen the markings on these statues before. Especially this one!" Reese motions to the one with a staff. He walks towards it and slowly touches the statue.
"Really? Where do you remember them from?" I look at the statues and try to remember myself.
History 13
Reese replies "I am not sure. Wait a second." He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a circular object. He leans down and says seemingly to himself "Look the lines seem to match."
"Where did you even get that thing Reese? You sure you should just put it in there?"
As Alerion approaches Reese voicing his concerns he can see Reese place the stone into the socket. "Soddard I need help! Cora and Reese are in a bad way!" I go to look through their bags for healing potions to attempt to force down their throats.

I look towards the door and see it blocked. I grab the runestone.
Cora has one healing potion and a journal.
Reese has a journal.
